The CD I won in the drawing at the Moose Lodge was White Zombie's.

| As far as Psychedelic metal goes, the group Trouble's latest album is
kinda psychedelic and definately metal! The album's called Manic
Frustration, and I'm surprised nobody else in here has picked it up, or
commented on it. Sounds just like a cross between old Zeppelin and
Black Sabbath! 50/50 right down the middle!

9:1 I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy
marvellous works.
9:2 I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou
most High.
9:3 When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy
presence.
9:4 For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne
judging right.
9:5 Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast
put out their name for ever and ever.
9:6 O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast
destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them.
9:7 But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for
judgment.
9:8 And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment
to the people in uprightness.
9:9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of
trouble.
9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD,
hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
9:11 Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the
people his doings.
9:12 When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth
not the cry of the humble.
9:13 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them
that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:
9:14 That I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of
Zion: I will rejoice in thy salvation.
9:15 The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which
they hid is their own foot taken.
9:16 The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is
snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.
9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget
God.
9:18 For the needy shall not alway be forgotten: the expectation of the poor
shall not perish for ever.
9:19 Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy
sight.
9:20 Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but
men. Selah.

| I just picked it up, and I'm listening as I write (courtesy of home
office program).
On the first song at least, vocals seem the same, which I consider
ed a weak point in their previuos release. I liked the music very much,
but the vocals kind of seemed the same after 3-4 songs.
On this new CD, the 1st song has a definitely different tempo, more
catchy than heavy metal.
I'm no musician and hence can't really tell the difference in
drummers, so if you are asking about that, better ask someone else.
If these guys picked just a bit more speed, I think they would be
awesome, but that's just my opinion...

After finishing up this one I can say this CD is about 1/3 of what
the Sexorcisto CD. Definitely not heavy Metal to me..
I was expecting this guys would have turned nastier, heavier, etc
etc with all the press the CD received, but this is kind of a funky CD.
Like I said before, vocals are pretty much the same, but if at least
the songs would have been heavier.
Oh, well, they are not Pantera...
I also picked up a CD from a band called PRO-PAIN, and what a diffe
rence vocals make. The songs are not as heavy as other bands, but the
singing makes the whole difference!

>> the Sexorcisto CD. Definitely not heavy Metal to me..
well, i must disagree with you... after snagging this cd thursday
night it never left my cd player all weekend during an easter trip
to western ny. i think that the music *is* heavier, the bass lines
from sean really pound, and coupled with the new drummer the rhythms
could knock down a house. a few of the tunes are intensely sped up
over anything on la sexorcisto... the first song on the disc being
a prime example. (sorry for not naming any song names, but i don't
have the case in front of me). and finally on this album the vocals
*do* change from song to song. you can still tell it's rob's voice
but he is definitely using some fx on a vox box on a handful of the
tunes... so much so that i had to give a song on Z-ROCK a second
listen last weekend when i first heard the first single. the only
fault that i find with the new album is that i have a feeling that
some of the drumming may be machined... some songs are kinda techno
but in a shredding kinda of way. probably something to do with the
transition to a new drummer.
i liked la sexorcisto a lot... but compared to this new one, i feel
that sexorcisto was very consistent... with songs sounding too much
the same. but after listening to the new one, i feel comfortable
with looking at sexorcisto, musically, as a stepping stone.
keep in mind this is all my own opinion. your mileage may vary...

I wasn't too impressed with Filter but when Zombie hit the stage all
HELL broke loose the pit was pretty brutal but all in all it was a
blast. Zombie sounded excellent and the stage show was wild(from what
I seen inbetween moshing and crowd surfing...Hang ten dude). During
the middle of the show they left the stage and on the big screenin back
they showed some of the media sh*t that they have been getting about
how evil they are and all that crap. Then cruicfied clowns dropped
down from above and they hit the stage again. Definatly a good moshing
show. When I left the show a little bloody and alot bruised ( Black eye
and a bruise on my back about the size of a boot I felt great. Great
show Great Pit. A Definate must see for any hard core thrasher.

like to see them on this tour when they come to Big D. The media part
sounds pretty entertaining anyway...
How did they sound? I've heard people tell me they sound like sh*t
live, but I thought they sounded killer. But back then I was such a
huge fan that they could do no wrong, so my opinion is most definitely
biased. Did they play any old stuff, or mostly new or what??
Minus the blood and bruises, I could have a pretty good time. ;)

great. But then again I am a huge fan so I might be a little biased.
There was a lot of neutral spots on they floor were the people who
weren't into moshing could see the show w/o blood and bruises.
Honestly, anybody who likes Zombie would have a good time at the show,
Me however I love to MOSH so I get into that aspect. I did have
friends who stayed in their seats through out the show and they enjoyed
it and say a lot more of the stage show then I did and they said it was
quite entertaining. There were a lot of fireworks explosions etc. etc.
to revise : White Zombie is a definate show for any fan or even
anybody who likes thier music. They got it all.

| I have a question. When did it become usual and customary for people
to beat the sh*t out of each other in mosh pits? Used to, you just
pushed and shoved, no hitting or kicking was allowed!!! Now you see
people swinging and jumping all over each other....WTF? In my opinion,
this ain't moshing, it's fighting which are two completely different
things.
|
931.45 | Toxic Waltz! | BSS::TROLINDER | | Mon Mar 04 1996 16:31 | 19 |
| I agree the stupid a**holes that go into pits to fight are ruining the
fun of it. Although I have seen these people get turned on and really
get thier as*es kicked by the rest of the crowd. You can't go into a
pit to fight, pits are for moshing and getting into the music. And to
reply to the other commet the music has to be good otherwise I can't
get into the groove of the pit. It's like a dance to me if the music
isn't your style or to your liking you can't get into the groove. Know
what I mean? I mosh to have fun, release some stress and to get into
the music not to fight. If the music sux I can't enjoy myself. It's
there to have fun and thats it. True you might come out a little beat
up but if there was no one really fighting it's just part of the
hazzards. There are pit rules and if you follow them everyone in the
pit will have a good time.

I forgot about that song ... thanks!!
That's even better than "Born Again" by Billy Preston and
Sereeta [I know that's spelled wrong, but ask me if I care
8^)].

at last I got to see WhiteZombie on monday and was impressed.I liked
them a lot.The tickets I got ended up being about 30 feet from the
stage and was on the right....so I got an excellant view of the bass
player(green hair and all)The sound wasn't that great but I enjoyed
myself! 8)
the between bands entertainment was bizarre to the say the
least....plus the tattood, pierced freak were in full turn out!

So Ian, are you saying Sean is cute?! I thought she looked cute on
MTV's halloween bash awhile back when WZ/Primus/others were there. She
had on red short shorts, red top, devils horns , etc....she looked
rather nice! ;-)

| I got to hear a little of that new "Super-sexy" stuff last night at the
local watering hole....and I thought it was cool $#!+!!! The DJ
should have played more but ended up putting the Crow : City of Angels
soundtrack on...that was pretty cool to...especially "Hole's" new tune!
