925.0. "Ransom - Stig's band" by FRETZ::HEISER (Goodbye Larry, you were the best!) Mon Feb 08 1993 14:01
Our own Paul Castiglione (Stig) recently sent me a demo tape of his
Christian rock band. I think there's some really good stuff on it that
some of you may enjoy as well.

Two of the 5 songs are recorded with Paul's band Ransom (BTW - Did you
guys know there is a band out of L.A. named Ransom? They have a female
lead singer and I believe they are on the Intense label). Stig also
has 3 of his own songs on there.

Musically speaking, I liked them all. The rhythm guitar on "The Anchor"
started to get a little repetitive, but other than that I thought they
were a great effort. There are some pretty cool solos on this tape!
Some tunes were definitely HM, some had a HR-Rock slant, showing good
diversity. The lead singer I liked too, good range. The lyrics
weren't compromising or watered-down and that was refreshing to me. Too
many bands are doing that today to appeal to the mainstream.

It was also a breath of fresh air to hear that I'm not the only one in
HM recording this type of music.

    good job,
    Mike
