| Bob Mercier is friends of these dudes, and from what he tells me,
the band is fronted by Guitarist Casey Lindstrom. Casey has been
a mainstay in the Boston music scene for over 2 decades now. I
remember in the late 70s when he flirted compositionally with members
of THE RINGS (Mike Baker & Co.). Then Casey appeared in the popular
band NEW MODELS for a stint. Soon afterwards came SHAKE THE FAITH.
Both NM and STF were sort of hard rock-based funky metal...real
groove oriented. Casey's latest effort, Love it to Death, sort of
abandons the theme's of his earlier efforts. LITD comes across like
a hodgepodge of cliches...the singer sounds exactly like a gene
splice of Jon Bon Jovi and Sebastian Bach. Casey now sounds like a
George Lynch clone! 8^( Bob gave me a copy of their most recent
demo, which contained the following songs:
Mary No Mercy
Crack House
Kick Me Up
Cat Like You
Break The News
End of My Rope
Mary No Mercy is an *ok* song, but not one *I'd* pcik to kick the demo
off. The drums sound overtly siblant on this track! 8^( The hook
is weak, and this singer has a tendancy to get very WHINEY at times!
8^(
Crack House was a good effort which turned into a horrid tune!! The
only redeeming factor in this song is the "A section" guitar riff,
which is ultra cool. The lyrics are so bad, they're embarrassing,
and the chorus is forgettable. This song also features one of those
"Extreme" style bridge sections ... you know, the kind of bridge
sections that really don't fit with the rest of the song?
Kick Me Up -- This song is unfortunately interchangeable with End of
My Rope, but is not as good as EOMR song wise. Sort of a forgettable
song overall.
Cat Like You -- I really like the riffs in this song, but the lyrics
are (once again) sort of lame "Can't do dope with a cat like you"...
please!
Break The News -- Good rhythm riff, but I didn't think the extended
solo in the beginning was any value added. A better tune than most
on this tape.
End of my Rope -- probably my fav tune on the tape...the best band
effort imho.
