ACK si right......I hate the damn Monkey references!
WTF is up with that stuff lately?
Plus the band named themselves after a Motley song....

704.3Go buy it!COMET::FRISBYALittle DoveWed Jul 08 1992 09:2912
After having massive reservations about this group I broke down and
bought it about two weeks ago.

It didn't really hit me at first but I kept listening.
I'm glad I kept listening because this WHOLE album smokes!
The singer has got a real good rough edged voice and the songs are
strong! The damn tape hasn't left my car radio for the whole time and I
like it that way. These guys really have something here and I can't
wait to see the at Bangles on July 28th!!!!!!

704.4Best $6 I've spent this week!CGVAX2::GRENIERMon Jul 20 1992 17:4021
I bought this CD at the strong urging of someone in here. 8^)

    First impression: Smoking!

Second impression: Even better the 2nd time around!

I'd describe them as a mix of GnR, and harder Motley and Skid Row.
Singer has a rough edged voice, like Blackie Lawless, Axl, or the
singers from Kix and Cinderella, but not like he's gargling with
glass. I love the guitar tone, real raw and hardedged, but with
a touch of smoothness. Can't describe it.
Fave song is the first one, 'Hang on Lucy'. It grabs you and
    doesn't let go!

But don't expect a Seattle sound, or a Metallica/Megadeth sound.

    A definate thumbs up!

To people that haven't heard this band before, they can't really be
compared to GNR, Skid Row or anything. I find them much 'lighter' (as
opposed to heavier) than GNR, more along a warrent type band..

I give it fair, too light for my taste, I haven't listened to it much
since I got it 3 weeks ago..

The lead guitarist is a GEORGE LYNCH clone (yes, another one!!). The
singer sounds like your a-typical rock singer ala Firehouse, Beau
    Nasty, etc.

Some of the songs I *really* like...some of them are *ok*, and some
sound too much like previous songs, and are kind of bad. I couldn't
tell if this was a one or a two guitar band from the tape. I guess
it's two, but more often than not it sounds like only one.

A more complete review when I get into it more...

Wildside opened the Dream Theatre show last night at Axis -- while
the band played well, sounded good, and put on a good live
representation of their debut album, "Under the Influence", the
crowd was TOTALLY not into this band!! What made matters worse
is singer Drew Hannah started getting pissed and taunting the audience
"Are we boring you people??" "Do you really want us to play another
    song??"

Please, grow up and get a life, Drew. If you can't take the heat,
get the hell out of the kitchen.

    One last comment, Wildside has one of the L O U D E S T stage mixes I
have hear in a long while -- stadium OR club!! The sound was clear and
    defined, just Really Facking Loud.
704.19METALX::SWANSONspace benderThu Oct 08 1992 11:0310
I didn't think Wildside was *that* loud.... Lots of people had
earplugs though I noticed. My ears weren't ringing when I got out.

Lots of singers try to get more of a reaction out of the crowd... I
thought it was pretty normal since the crowd wasn't yelling all that
much. I thought it was funny when he asked someone in the front row
"Am I boring you? Can I get you an aspirin or something?" Ha! I
wish I saw the person he was talking to!

Welcome to today's edition of 50 Questions!!!
    ;')

    >Didn't the guitarist look older than dirt and looked like he had a
    >load to unload in his pants?

He did look pretty aged. Sort of like if Slash moved to Seattle. He
looked NOTHING like the album photo!!

    >Did you think the sissy boy guitarist had fake hair?

Not sure, but he was quite the Bignancyblouse if you ask me!

    >Did you ever see the drummer? I didn't....

He had on some stupid hat, combined with the hair, didn't make for much
    to look at.

    >Did they do "Looks like Love" or "Monkey see Monkey Do"?

Their set was pretty short, as previously mentioned, they were pissed,
and stormed off stage in a hissy after what seemed like only a few
songs. Here is what I remember:

    Clock Strikes (opener)
    Looks Like Love
    Lad in Sin
    Hang on Lucy
    Break My Heart
...and a new one call Crash Diet.

Their set was pretty rocked out ... no ballads anywhere to be found.

    >Did K go?

    Yes.

704.23METALX::SWANSONspace benderThu Oct 08 1992 13:3029
    re Friz:

    My version....

    >Didn't the guitarist look older than dirt and looked like he had a
    >load to unload in his pants?

I only saw him from the waist up so I can't say anything about the load
in his pants. I didn't think he looked 'older than dirt'. Looked
older than the other guys in the band. Looked kind of like early Frank
Zappa with thinning 'Slash hair'. He fackin RIPPED, so I can't really
    put the guy down.

    >Did you think the sissy boy guitarist had fake hair?

Uhhhhhh, actually I thought the other guitarist looked like Whitpose!
(Sorry Jim! I'm not the one who called him a sissy boy and a nancy
    blouse!)

    >Did you ever see the drummer? I didn't....
     What Buck said....

Buck, Clock Strikes wasn't the opener. I guess you did get there after
they started. They did 1 or 2 songs before that one. The singer had a
hat on just like the drummer for the first song. Had shades on too....
made him look like a Beastie Boys type.

It really too bad the "crowd" didn't like Wildside....They really are
quite a cool band to listen to. I thought the singer had a bad
attitude when he came here also.

BUT it's the singer job to get the crowd into it, not get pissy.

	UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!

I have never seen anything like it..... A signed band, that
got quite a bit of airplay and people seemed to like, playing
a club with $7 tickets....All ages... and guess what....?

There weren't more than 100 people there!!!! I was in the
last row, which was the fourth row center!!!

They put on a great show, lots of old stuff, and 3 or 4 new
tunes. Killing Machine and 6 feet under were two of them....

The opening band Blindman's Bluff was pretty good too....

A great show but where were the people????
