| | Paris Burning???
                    Never heard of em'?

                 No...Only kidding!
     Buck.....Amusing.

The band was named after a Porno movie(before *I* was in the
    band).
We just completed a four song demo that was sent to Tesla's
tour manager. It came out quite good for the time and resources aloted.
We've been together for about 7 months now.
Paris Burning has really been around for about 2 years but *I* wasn't
with them so it didn't count.8)!
There drummer before was fired for tempo and lack of talant problems.
Our singer came from Lousianna just to sing for us and is doing
     an AWESOME job!
           We have about 15 orginals.....
Were kinda of a cross between old DOKKEN and Skid Row with
    a little Warrant influence.
I know what your thinking----Oh Great! Another poser band! WRONG!!

I think were quite a good rock & roll band with a cool look.

          The band members:

                 JONAS-Vocals,Lyrics
                  KYLE-Guitars..The 20 space rack guy...The backbone for
    the music)
                 JAMII-Guitars(The *FEEL* player)
                 KEVIN-Bass...(POSE for short)The dad of the band)Lyrics.
                 ALLEN-Drums...... (Lyrics)

I'll keep everybody up on the progress of the band.
    BTW- Our next gig......

October 12th at the Annex(Ground Zero)
Were opening the show with a hour and half set for Foolish
    Pride.

SEKA, a Boston-based band, was named after a female porn star. Their
name works, Goddess F-dot and I think Paris Burning doesn't quite
work. It just sounds funny, syllabolically speaking.

*My* suggestion. You've got all these cool names...Kyle, Jonas, Jamii
(with the quasi-Tracii Guns spelling!)...then you have KEVIN and ALLEN.
BUZZZZZ Don't work! I think you should stick with "Kev" and "Friz"
for stage names...they sound much more Rock N Roll.

| | Friz,

My comments were meant as constructive criticism...hope they were taken
    that way.

    RE: players names...

It does make sense. If you have 3 people with unique names/spellings,
the idea should be universal, otherwise, the latter 2 seem a tad
de'place', and I think would focus more attention on the other 3 dudes
    in the band.

    RE: band name

It's cool, but with any rock band name, I run it through two tests --

Does it fit well in the "Hey man, you gonna check out the * gig tonight?"

This is an example where a band like "C + C Music Factory" fails miserably!
It's all in how the rhythm of the band name flows in everyday
conversation. Like "Madonna"...one word, one syllable...easy to say,
easy to recognize in Magazine text, etc. Which leads me to test #2:

You're driving/riding/walking down the road, you pass by a flyer/poster
on a post/wall/billboard/etc. Does the band name grab you? Did you
SEE it (important!)? Did you remember it?? Would you see it flipping
through a magazine, like the Beat (which has small print type)??

This is where bands like BANG, and LA GUNS, and AC/DC, and POISON, etc.
all score points as they're short, easy to spot, easy to read (wether
it be on a T shirt, poster, mag ad, etc.).

These are things I think you should be thinking of. Public exposure
and mass appeal is what the business is all about. These
considerations need to be thought about...

| | >I doubt most people are as analytical as you, buck...

Not consciously, April, but those are VALID points...

Lets take, for instance, Duy's DM t-shirts. I have YET to run across
ONE of those bands that had a LOGO that I COULD READ!!! I am not
blind, but the script was so overblown, it made it almost
unintelligable! Surely I'm not going to remember what band Duy was
advertising that day if I can't read the band name, right?? I mean,
    we're not psychic.

Also, I don't know how much marketing background you have, but
basically the American buying public are LAZY. They want life served
to them o na silver platter. They don't want to have to straint their
brain on obscure band names, band logos, etc. Thus, the people doing
the marketing have to gear their product towards the masses. This is
how it is done, NOT the other way around.

Any band trying to break on the scene who has some strange name (lets
usefor example GOTHIC GURU's OF GOLGOTHA) should get a clue that they
won't go very far until they start marketing themselves to the masses.

You see, people have shortened it!! Lie Return to Zero, already dubbed
RTZ in the Boston area. It will get to a point where someone will
think RTZ is the name of the band, and have a total disassociation with
    Return to Zero!

    >	"Hey man, you gonna check out the Guns and Roses gig tonight?"
    >	....sounds absolutely lousy to me but they're doing okay for

It does sound awful, which is why most people use GnR (to type, say,
etc.). In their case, the name, as awkward as it is linguistically,
is RIGHT ON marketing-wise for their image. How many names could
fully encompass and do justice to a band of street punks who play this
out-of-tune, neurotic rock n roll? In that light, Guns and Roses fits
    like a glove!!

As opposed to C&C Music Factory...it's just a name that really doesn't
supoprt their image at all. They could have been called DANZE for all
we know/care, and the msuic still would have sold.

your logo to make it a bit more identifiable. Right now, it looks like
any other band that is using that Post-Yngwie Malmsteen type of
gothic-style fonts. Which isn't *bad*, but look at a band like Wilson
Phillips...They have that distictive Captiol "WP", slightly off center
from each other, and in different colors, with lower case lettering for
the rest of the letters. Not that you overtly think about it being
different or unique, but you KNOW it's Wilson Phillips every time you
see that dumb little "WP" in a magazine or something...

Actually, I think if you have a really cool cover, cause that urges
a lot of people to buy an album without hearing the music.

But anyway, I could care less if Metallica is called ANAL EXPLOSIONS,
if they played the music they play, then I would still buy the album.

    >the Nazis invaded France. I like Mystic Powers too, and Mystery City.

Speaking of Mystery City...when I saw Jim and his friend at Can-O-Pea
with their band jackets on, from A distance I thought they BOTH had
POISON jackets on!!! Cuz Mystery City is written in this nuclear-green
script style writing, like the POISON logo!!! Just one more incident

True, but what about those people who don't even know about your music?
How will you get them to listen to it in the first place?? I know *I*
wouldn't waste my $15.00 for a CD on a band called "Geeks from the
North". Also, think about the promotion side of it. An A&R person
walks into his office on Monday am...he has a hangover from Rep parties
all weekend long, and is short on sleep. He walks into to find 50
tapes sitting on his desk. Now, the bands with the cool tape packaging
(Name, logo, image, shrinkwrap, etc.) will probably be the bands whos
tapes are not IMMEDIATELY thrown into the trash bucket!

Why ask why? (try Bud Dry!) 8^)

Seriously ... Annicrusis and Deicide are on indy lables, who care less
and give more artistic freedom to their clients. As far as C&C goes,
who knows? It was probably the project of some hot shot producer who
sold the whole ball of wax (record recorded, image, sound, etc) to a
record company for X amount of money (like New Kids).

Buck, who has personally been through, and has seen friends bands go
through the "we don't like your band name...change it ASAP, or get
lost" response from record comapnies. When they are the people with
the contract and the monies, you listen to them, or you walk. In the
case of Jamaican Vacation (which I thought was a cool name), every
record company we talked with (about 9) ALL said "it conjures the
mental image of 7 black men playing reggae, not 4 white guys playing
punk music with a loose reggae-based influence!"

| | > I KNOW the soundman blew bad

Listen man, I can't say enough bad things about that sound bozo! Does
he hate you guys or something? He gave you absolutely the WORST mix I
have *EVER* heard in my life! It was completely pathetic. It sounded
like bone dry lead vocals lost in a mush of noise.

The first three or four songs were completely lost. It got better as
you played on, but I couldn't hear any cymbols or kicks at all and
couldn't hear a single guitar solo the entire set.

Even with the sound at it's best toward the end of the set, about all
you could hear was lead vocals, rhythm guitars, and snare. If it were
my band, not only would I have NOT paid the sound man, I probably would
have choked the sh*t out of him! ESPECIALLY considering that he gave
the other two bands a fairly decent mix...

>but how was:
> 1.The band?

Who could tell? I could hardly HEAR them! It looked like they were
playing it up pretty well, but it was real hard to say for sure. I
braved the teenie-boppers for a couple of songs and went up front with
Jesse, the sound was better up there because you could hear the guitars
from the stage volume rather then just through the mains.

> 2.The songs?

I heard a couple that I'm sure I would really like with a good mix.
    Interesting choice of covers too.

> 3.Stage presence?

Pretty good overall, but frankly you guys looked really cramped on that
stage. That doesn't make sense either, because it's a moderately large
stage too. I personally think that your stage presence would improve
if you brought less equipment or set it up in a way that it didn't
interfere with the room you had to move around in. I noticed
especially that Kevin was pinned in the back the whole show and he kept
trying to get out a little and would get all over Jonas when he did.

> 4.The price of drinks? 8)

Not great, but ok. I was bummed that they didn't have any licquor,
    just beer.

Overall: Well... VERY disappointing!! I really wanted to hear you guys
with a decent mix to hear what the songs sounded like. The mix I heard
from BACKSTAGE the last time I saw you was better!

| | I arrive at the Annex nice and early to shoot the shit with Friz and bs
around until the show starts. Well the firsted band is still at Taco
Bell or somewhere, so Friz introduces me to some members of his band
and a couple from the last band. Well the first band shows up around
6:30, so me, Bob and Bob's SO head to O'Furries to drink cheap beers.
had 1 beer and a pitcher of beer so I was ready for Friz's show. We get
back to the Annex and it looks like a high school pep assembly. Great.
I go to the cage and get a beer, drink it, then go and get rid of some.
well I yell at gh so we go brave the boppers. I get a spot right next
to the speaker and the show begins. Obviously these guys have a good
following cuz it sounded like a frick'in beatles concert with all the
LGTBs(tm) screaming their fool haids off. I'm with the everyone who
said the sound man shoulda bin kilted. I was able to hear Friz and he
did good. The guitar player practically was stepping on me so I heard
him ok. Except for the acoustic parts. The bass was good(what little I
heard), the singing was loud at times and low at others. Yeh, I'd
definately kill the sound guy. But I had a great time inspite of the
mix. About midway thru I noticed this chick seemed to be losing her
shirt so I went to point that out to gh but he was gone 8^(. Oh well.
not much to speak of anyway.
The stage seemed a tad small for you guys, and the left (from
Friz's point of view) seemed real crowded. The music was good though
the mix wasn't. The only real bummer if the night was the POISON
COVER!!! Naw, just kidding. I gotta see you guys again, cuz I liked
what I heard despite all you guys had to overcome. I thought it was

Yeah, I liked that too. The exodus got worse after you left, Jess! By
the time the next band started only about half the people that had been
there were still around. I noticed a lot of people leaving during that
next bands first few songs too (after which I left too). People seemed
to be milling around, going in and out and stuff during their songs
too, not real intent on the band like they had been with Paris Burning.

It's a good sign for you guys, Friz!

As it worked out, the next band (Foolish Pride) had replaced the guitar
player that had been with them so long and it changed their sound quite
a bit. I didn't like them nearly as much as the last time I saw them
and I left after about 4 or 5 songs (I think, but who could really tell
because they all seemed to sound alike). I would have been embarrassed
if you'd stuck around around to see them based on my recommendation and
then had them sound like that. I was disappointed because I really
    liked them the last time.

    Life in the fast lane...

| |
It is time for the ultimate review!!!!! I wasen't going to go on
account of the most STUPIDIST band (foolish Pride) was going to be
there...but I couldn't miss watching Friz thrash around like a mad
man on his drum cage! (his NEW drum cage)
they opened with Snakeskin...(cool song...very cool) Then blistered
out two more songs including the talk box one... The girls go crazy
on that one it's like they think that since he likes to stick things in
    his mouth that........
They did their newest song, which went over real well,B!tch!n'
song dude! (but do they EVER write a bad song!! I think NOT) The
new one went in between thier 2 accoustic songs (I LOVE those!)
The last accoustic tune, which is Tears(abv.) is the absolutely
my all time fave from P.B.!!!!!! Then they RIPPED into a fast and
heavy version of "Look What the Cat Dragged in" but WAY better then
    Poison!!! 8^)
Then they soared into an orgasmic frenzy with the next three
heaviest of their songs!!!!!!!!! "I Just Wanna Make Love to You"
Brang the AWESOME set to a much unwanted end!!!!

Even though the sound man blew I still had a good time....
Paris burning deserves a little more credit than just b!tch!n'
about how the sound man srcewed em'

      What about their musical abilities???????

| | Just an update:

As you all might know Paris Burning is in the process of replacing two
members. Personal and musical differences and drug use were the
prime reason for the boot to these two.
Jonas and Jamii are out. The rest of us are auditioning players and
being abit more selective. (I never knew how many dorks think they can
sing)! All of the song will stay because those two never wrote
anything. I also celbrated my first year with this group.......
Some people said it counldn't be done.

The rumors flying around town about the band make me believe that
alot people have good chances of working for a tabloid.
The rumors are:(BTW-None of these are true)
    Jonas and Jamii are cokeheads.......
Kevin is moving to Arizona to join a band......
Kyle is moving to California to try out for Poison........
    Allen is getting married.............

How come Kyle gets the good one?

I'll keep ya updated for any new members or good rumors....

Hey, I gotta question. You guys do a song called "Snakeskin Lover" or

wears snakeskin clothing, having sex with snakes, or what?

| | My review of the Paris Burning demo.

You guys suck! Give it up man!
    8) Just kidding Friz!!!! My feelings are the exact opposite actually.

You guys sound sorta like L.A. Guns IMO! (that is meant to be a
    compliment)
The guitarist has some way cool riffs, and the (ex-)singer was
remarkable. Not to mention that gnarly drummer. ;)

Overall, I was highly impressed. If I lived in Colorado, I'd probably be
    your #1 fan, no kiddin'!

    Okay:

    1. Dancin' Alone

This one's my favorite. It's crunchier than grape nuts. 8) I like
the cool riffs and the rhythm. 8) It's completely original. I can
almost hear the sweat pouring off that poor over-worked drummer!!!
What massive talent this guy must have. I hear the potential and it
    	makes me quiver. 8)

    2.	Everything I Do

Aside from the fact that Brian Adams' lyrics sound remarkably the
same (you should sue that dude for ripping you off! ;), this song is
also very original. It's a sweet little ditty that makes ya go
"Awwwwww". 8) I like it, but not as much as Dancin'.

    3.	Tears

All I can really say about this song is that it kinda hits home. The
guitar work is powerful, yet soft. I like this tune almost as much
as Everything. I really like the acoustics on it, especially the
ending. I wish I could understand the lyrics more though. It's a
beautiful song. Masterpiece. Okay, I like it more than Everything.

    4. Jealous

What a treat! Another crunchy one. I can hear the L.A. Guns
influence in this song more than the other three. The solo is sweet!
I was listening to it at lunch and I was actually singin' along.
It's too short though... Also maybe a little too repetitive...but
    	hey, repetitive is cool! ;)

    			The End.

My Paris Burning Demo review:
Dancin' Alone:
--------------
My favorite song! I love the riff, and the guitars sound fackin' awesome.
The drums are played great. Nothing I don't like about the song. Even
the guys voice is good.
Everything I Do:
----------------
better than Bryan Adams song! I like the intro, but the only thing is
the overlay of the acoustic (or non-distorted) guitar under the distortion.
Basically the song to me sounds like Kyle-a-mania, but it's still a good tune.
Tears:
------
the singer's voice stands out a little more hear than the rest of the
songs... another Kyle-a-fest though... I liked this solo better than
the rest.
Jealous:
-------
The drums would be roolin' if not for the high-hat which I didn't
like the sound of that much. The vocals are pretty good. The guitars
are another good aspect. My second favorite tune behind
	Dancin' Alone.
Vocals:
-------
I liked the sound of his voice, just wasn't to fond of his technique.
Guitars:
--------
Rythms on DA are great. The solo's are great even though some seem
to be dragged out a bit. What's with Kyle and the VERY high E
	every now and then?
Bass:
----
My biggest problem. Where is the bass? Might be the quality, but
I don't remember hearing the bass once.
Drums:
------
Whattta geek. He stinks! heh heh heh ... jus' kiddin'.... I like
his style, and he can double bass pretty good. I dislike the
sound of the high hat, but that's probably not his fault.
If he twirls his sticks, he shouldn't, cuz that takes away from
the playing ability. He's still a great drummer even though
	he plays geeky music... ;')

| | I just got my copy of the PARIS BURNING demo in the mail today. Only
listened to each song once so far (on my way back to work from my mail
box), but below are my first impressions:

    Favorite songs, in order:

    Dancin' Alone
    Jealous
    Tears
    Everything I Do

    MISC COMMENTS:

    - The beat (tempos) are pretty solid throughout...a little shakey on EID
but still, next time you record, record the drums to a click track.
I think it will help beef up the psycological impact of the grooves
set up, esp. in songs like Dancin' Alone and Jealous. You know, like
Tommy Lee...that kind of feel (grooving, but in perfect time). Tommy
Lee's drumming would not sound as awesome if it wasn't so in time
      (think about it).

    - Basically, I think the recording is pretty poor. Yeah, I know, 4tk,
but the Beatles recorded on 4 tks, too.

    - Wot, no background vocals?? Esp. for pop metal, you guys need to
work out some backing vocal arrangements, in a big way. This genre
      screams for them!!

    - Lead singer's voice can get a tad 'whiney' at times (ala Mike Tramp).
In a better studio (24 tk), I would do a few tricks to beef up his
sound and make it less annoying (well, maybe grating is a better word)

    - Rhythm guitar is too loud during lead guitar solos!! Also, I didn't
like the lead players choice of notes in EID...very a-tonal/constant
structure like lines...I would have preferred a more diatonic approach
      for this song!

    - I didn't like the clean sound on the guitars. If and when you
re-record in a better studio, please work on this (acoustic and
processed electric mixed would work well in this genre -- see
Steelheart and Beau Nasty for comparisons)

    - I didn't like the verse melody in Everything.. at all. The Led
Zepplinesque pentatonic blues melody just didn't float here!! I'd work
on this section. Also, I didn't like the bass/drum groove on the intro
of Tears. Too basic. I think a poly-rhythmic counter rhythm to what
the guitars are playing would help set a better groove overall. Also,
in the chorus, I would also not follow exactly what the guitars are
playing rhytmically (as well as harmonically for the bass guitar) Like
when the guitars go to that "D" chord, It would be nice if the bass
took the 3rd of the chord.

Everything I do would also do well with a bridge section in it.

    - I didn't like some of the endings...Tears could have had a better,
less cliche-ish ending (I was thinking something along the lines of
Carrie by Europe...where the singer sings that line a-capella as the
      instruments drone).

    SUMMARY:

    * Re-record in a better studio (16 or 24 tk...preferably the latter,
to do justice to this genre)

    * Get a producer!! There are some good ideas here, but a Producer
would really help pull them together in a professional format.
The biggest problem I have with these songs are the arrangements.
They're just too A-B-A-B. New arrangements with background vocals
would make for some damn decent songs!

| | I got my Paris Burning demo the other day, and was hella impressed
    with what I heard.
The first song "Dancing Alone" started out the demo with kill energy.
The combination of screamin' guitars, jammin' drums, and kill vocals,
got me all hyped out and signing along. This one really got me going.
The second song "Everything I Do" slowed down from the first, but
still really rocked. It had nice sensitivity to the lyrics thats really
refreshing. I dug this one a lot too.
The third song "Tears" is a very pretty song, but ballsy enough not
to sound sappy. and again, another thumbs up!
The fourth song "Jealous" is hella bad. This one was my favorite.
It really rocked all over the place. Another excellent energy filled
jam that gets you bouncing of the walls.

All in all, if ya hadn't noticed, I really like this band. I think
they are very talented bunch of musicians. I hope that someday
California will get to experience the sensation of Paris Burning.

       IMO: Ear Candy!

I got Friz's tape yesterday, so here's da review! I know me and Friz
argue alot and he hates my guts, but here's a totally non-biased
    review.

The sound quality was way off, what did you record on?

The first song really rocks! I like the singers voice, and I like
the timing change in the song, good work Friz! The guitars are cool
but cause of the sound quality I couldn't hear the bass well.

The other two songs are good too, but not my cup off tea.

Unlik Buck, I didn't see any timing problem. I followed along keeping
time and didn't see any problems.

I'd like to hear you guys g into a 16 track studio. It would do you
justice! This is the kind of music I actually love to play because
it's not so demanding, you can have fun with it (and show off to it 8-))
and it's easier to work with than going a million miles an hour like we
    do. 8-)

There you go Pete, misconstrueing my comments again. I didn't say the
PB tape had "timing problems" ... what I said was, the bass and drums
would groove MUCH better to a click track, ala Tommy Lee. And that is
a true statement...go home, take out Dr. Feelgood, put it on, and grab
a metronome...you will find the groove to be RIGHT ON...that is becuase
they recorded it to a click track. I was saying to get the same kind
of groove, which I think would compliment the songs, you have to record
    to a click track.

Well for some time now I've been promising Friz a review, so here
    goes:
First song, DANCIN' ALONE. Great opening song, lots of energy in the
song and some intresing tempo changes. I like the singer's voice on
their demo, even tho I understand he's no longer with the band. The
lead breaks I think are really hot, and definately cuts through and
sounds great. I do think that areas of the tempo changes could be ac-
cented a bit more to stand out.
EVERYTHING I DO. This is my favorite on the demo. Reminds me heavily
of older UFO influence. The song has a great groove to it and some
nice guitar licks. I also feel this is the strongest song on the tape.
I have no negitive comments on this cut, I wouldn't change a thing.
Great song and really shows alot of thought was given to write
    this one.
TEARS. This one is a ballad and my second favorite on the demo. This
song is also well done, and has very meaningful lyrics that I'm sure
most people can relate to. Its well structured and could easily be a
hit for almost anyone that plays it, if you know what I mean.
JEALOUS. This is the final song on the demo and my least favorite
(sorry Friz). The song has a good groove and all, but I just can't
seem to get into this one. Nothing really stands out as far as being
bad or anything, just doesn't move me 8^).

So to sum things up, I think that Paris Burning has huge potental.
I think their original songs are very strong and show that the band
does have talent. The recording does not do justice to the material
on this tape. With a good recording it would improve the songs 100%.
I hope to catch this band live sometime, Best of luck Friz, keep it
up, I hope to hear more from Paris Burning. Definately two thumbs up
    for the demo!!
                     mike

| 794.28 | My review too - while I'm at it | KDX200::COOPER | Step UP to the RACK ! | Wed May 13 1992 16:18 | 49 |
| | General:
Good tape - I think the songs are catchy and I think Kyles
guit-work is rippin'. Tell him I said to be careful with his
whammy so he doesn't rip it out by the roots. Again, over all
I think the tape is pretty happenin'. However, next time you
do some recording use a click-track (I think Buck had mentioned
this). I heard some timing flaws in Everything I Do.
You also might try using a open air mike for acoustic guitar
tracks - acoustic ickups take out the "flavor factor" of a fine
acoustic. What was Kyle playing ? A Takamine ??
Also - I think your ex-singer did pretty well - a little monotone
perhaps... and get him a "pop screen" - I heard a lot of "p's"
You guys gotta help your singer out. Perhaps a no-instruments
rehearsal to get some harmonies together ?? I think cool harmonies
will REALLY turn some heads.
Dood - I hate that we got a 27th generation copies. My copy
had some wierd hum and hiss on it.
Anyway:
Dancin' Alone
This tune is hip too - my second choice. This toon is BEGGIN' for some
harmonies. Help 'im out ! Cool breaks.
Everything I Do
Everything I Do is your number one tune (IMHO, naturally).
Tears
Friz - you need compression on your drums - I was bummin'
cuz the drums sounded really cool, then they'd disappear from the mix,
the show up again then peak and pop a little then go away... A good
compressor would smooth that out quite a bit.
Jealous
I gotta agree with Mike on this one - I felt like I was missing the hook
or something. Vocals were distorting a little, but I really liked the
delay thing at the end...
Overall - Good tunes dood - go to a studio and record 'em so we can
hear whats goin' on !!

Well - actually, what I had in mind was sub-mixing vocals to
one track, another track for guitars, one bass, and one for
drums (also sub-mixed). This allows for live recording -
the only way to use a four track (IMHO). Recording LIVE

| | Update:
The band was going good for about two weeks but then the new members
started showing their REAL colors. The singer was more interested in
getting laid than ever showing up for practice. We didn't even have to
tell him he was out of the band...That's how much he was showing up.
Pretty sad but I've see it happen so many times it doesn't phase me
    anymore.
The guitarist was suppose to be some shredder god but couldn't grasp
the concept of chords to well. He was having a real hard time learning
our material. He made it easy for us and moved to Florida before we
could tell him he just wasn't working out.
Then we went back to square one trying not to let this upset our flow
of the band. We went back and started songwriting which is becoming
alot more comfortable as we continue. It seems that we can't keep up
with all the new ideas but that's better than sitting around forceing
    the ideas.
As it turns out now...We're working with a 17 year old that just moved
here from Kentucky. He's 6'7" which is kind of weird but I think it's
cool. So far he's learned most of the set and fits real well with the
attitudes in the band. He's played us some of his original material
and I think it's going to be a great mix with our stuff already.
Now I'm even more behind on lyrics...8) The problem I have with lyrics
is good topics. I want to be original as possible and have interesting
things to say. I think I'm getting better...
All in all if this band could ever get a deticated singer I think we
could really have something here but until then we'll just write for
    our first three albums. 8)
Right now we're going through a nationwide newsletter to hopefully find
    a singer.

I completely disagree, Mike. His genre of music *requires* that he use
cliches, in fact, the more the better. The problem is coming up with
enough cliches to make entire songs.

If he writes songs with massive cliches, then he's guaranteed success.

...and not just lyrical cliches either, if they use musical cliches
    then they'll be doubly successful!

Did you happen to here the new "Foolish Pride" Album/EP on the

your big time competition!!! The station did an interview and played

Sure, they can now, 'cause now they think they have nothing to lose.
They've also been a little freer with their format in the last month or
two then they were in the past. I seriously doubt they'd be doing that
if nothing had changed with the station ownership. They'd be back to
the same ole 15 minute "local spotlight" at 11:45pm on Sunday nights
where they'd play two songs by DENVER bands...which, now that I think
of it, is more then KILO ever did, so I guess you are still right. KILO
has never supported local music, and I think that sucks.

many years ago and was really quite good. Through the years they have

The band came off like idiots IMHO! They were all uncoordinated and
unprofessional. The were interrupting each other, all talking at the
same time, couldn't keep a consistant distance from the mike in the
studio, so their voices were either in your face or barely audible.
Couldn't answer even the most simple questions. They should have just
sent one or two guys down there who could speak at the proper time and
sound like they had a brain in their heads.

On the other hand, I liked the song of their's that got played a lot.
A shame...I almost turned them off before they played it because they
    were acting like such morons.

I think that if they're going to try and hit the "intelligent,
progressive metal" audience which they seem to be targeting, then
they'd better get their image together and act like professionals.

On Monday night the band was telling the new member about record
companies and stuff pertaining to that since he doesn't know too much
    about it.
Then we started songwriting because we has some cool ideas to work
on. All of a sudden Pose bashes this really cool song that I like alot
and wants to start over with it. I was of course pissed off
beyond belief and he knew it.
They seemed to believe that it didn't have enough melody....
The song had something to say and I thought what it lacked in melody
in gained in a cool idea and attitude.
Then we got into substance vs. selling records.
What are some of your thoughts?
Substance or cool melodies that sell records?

moving to the TWIN CITIES in order to find a house for the band
and then they will be joining us soon after.
The point is this town sucks for original music and we are not willing
to die here, Secondly...We need a great singer. The local talant sucks
in the singer department and no talanted singer in his right mind would

Paris is Burning is a film, more or less, about the ORIGIN of "Vogue"
dancing -- as exhibited by the drag queens and cross-dressers of the
gay world in disco's. Yes, this is where Allen and the boys got the
