777.0. "White Trash" by USOPS::GALLANT (Chiquita Cherry) Sat Aug 10 1991 11:26

    	Has anyone heard this new (?) band called White Trash?? I heard
    	their song (Apple Pie) on AAF a few days ago and couldn't believe
    	how much it sounded like Been Caught Stealing (?) by Jane's
    	Addiction...

    	Any news????

      I heard them back a while ago on AAF too. Ya, you're right! they do
    sound like Jane's Addiction. I liked them but they didn't play it
    much. I wonder why they brought it back....

               Pretty cool.

        I like the singer's voice!!!
               The guitar is boring though...

    Edgar Winters band used to be called White Trash. Anyone from the
    original group in here or is someone else using the name now??

    Judging from the video I'd say they all looked pretty young, so I don't
    think anyone from Edgars band is in this one. I guess they can call
    themselves White Trash, because Edgar's band called themselves "Edgar
    Winters White Trash".

    That's like Skid Row naming their band after Gary Moore played in a
    band by the same name for YEARS over in the UK!!!
777.6bubblegum and apple pieAD::FLATTERYMon Aug 12 1991 15:405
    ....oh so this is the band that does the song "apple pie"...now i know
    who to avoid like the plague if this is any indication of their other
    stuff.......this song makes me ill......it's right up there with the
    other one that makes me wanna throw up, "God gave rock and roll"..by
    kiss??.......major icckkkk....../k
777.7EEEWWWWWWW!!!!AD::FLATTERYMon Aug 12 1991 16:117
    ...well we can't agree on everything now, can we.??..that would be SO
    boring.....i like "GGRR" about as much as i'd like an icepick drilled
    through my left eye......visual enough for you??...not to mention that
    every time i happen to turn AAF on that stupid song is on...or apple
    pie...its a wonder that my poor cassette deck ever gets a chance to
    breathe!.............../k

    As an FYI, it used to be Edgar Winter AND White Trash. Saw them live
    once.

    Yeah, the soundtrack one that they have that video of. The video's
    okay as long as I didn't have to listen to the song while watching it!
    I forget the name of the song...

777.11trash indeed...AD::FLATTERYFri Aug 16 1991 12:0510
    ..saw the video on this yesterday and i finally figured out what
    bothered me so much about the song...it's not the tune, it's the
    words.."walked through the ghetto just the other day"....yeah
    right...out strollin' were they??....and not to mention the infinitely
    forgettable chorus of "you're gonna taste like apple pie"...PUH-LEASE!!!..
    .now i know alot of tunes have ridiculous lyrics but at lease those bands
    have the good sense to make them difficult to hear.....i did try to give
    it another listen....my opinion,??..still bubblegum.....and doesn't sound
    a thing to me like "been caught stealin"....i love that tune...it has
    drive!...../k
777.12Can't please all of the people all of the time!METALX::SWANSONMakeEvrythngLouderThanEvrythngElseFri Aug 16 1991 14:3613
    I think it's "Walkin' through the ghetto on a Sunday afternoon..."

    and as far as other bands making lyrics difficult to hear... I for the
    life of me can't figure out what they say before "you're gonna taste
    like apple pie" to me, *that's* difficult to hear! Sounds kinda like
    "takes weeks to die" or something like that. Anyway, I like the song,
    and I like the video. No poseurs here. And the song sounds very
    original to me. Not some bogus re-hash of other pop songs

     The chorus goes:

        My,my,my...You taste it..you die....e..i....
                    Your gonna taste like apple pie

                 This songs o.k. but the solo is crap!

          I knew because they play it on the radio here.
    Also because I *LOVE* the chorus, it has a cool melody.

     I still don't think it makes much sense but alot of cool tunes don't.

         I think my roommate is going to buy it,so If he does
    I'll give ya the run down.

    I guess these guys are having some trouble......I'm not surprised since
    the suck. The band's demise is being rumored at the moment.

777.21great stuff!!DPE::STARROut Of The Cradle, Endlessly Rocking!Wed Oct 07 1992 18:4944
I picked up this album on a whim from the $.99 bin at Disc Diggers. I had
never heard of them before......

... but I gotta tell you, I *love* this album!!! First off, this is really
not a HM album at all, and it's unfortunate that they picked the one hard
rock tune on here as the single. For the most part, the band is much more
funk-oriented - sorta like LA-metal meets Tower of Power.

"Apple Pie" is ok, but the album doesn't really find a groove until the
third song "Take My Soul", which totally ROOLZ! Awesome song!!! The rest
of the album settles into a nice R&B-flavored rock with a touch of HM edge
to it (mostly in the vocals area). Good stuff all around!

(Also, a great mix on the album by Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiero!)

They are managed by Q-Prime, the same people who manage Queensryche,
Metallica, etc.

Band Members:
Dave "D-Bone" Alvin - Vocals, Harp
Ethan Collins - guitar
Mike Caldarella - Drums

The Badass Brass Section - Chris Arbisi (alto sax), Terry Thomas (tenor and
                           baritone sax), and Brendan Stiles (trumpet)
