527.0. "Heathen" by KETJE::VLASIU () Mon Mar 25 1991 09:06

    This topic is for the band named Heathen (I think an US band). I just
    heard quickly a part of their new "Victims of deception" album.
    It sounds excellent, being some kind of progressive speed metal, a bit
    like Forbidden. Really impressed at first listening.
    Does anyone know more ?

527.2Victims of deceptionKETJE::VLASIUMon Apr 08 1991 04:1110
    I got as a gift "Victims of deception" which is the latest album from
    Heathen. It is very heavy including 10 songs which are generally quite
    long (more than 64 mins. total play time). It's speed metal whith heavy
    riffing and vocals recalling a little Vicious Rumors. They include also
    a cover of Rainbow's "Kill the king". The overall impression is good.
    There is Metallica influence also. An interesting album but less fine
    than Forbidden's or Toxik's (yes, their music sounds also a little bit
    like Toxik but less inventive).

527.3Band compositionKETJE::VLASIUMon Apr 08 1991 04:5911
And here is the actual band composition (they are from the Bay Area I think):

Doug Piercy		- guitars
Darren Minter		- drums
David White-Godfrey	- vocals
Lee Altus		- guitars

The bass on "Victims of deception" is played by Marc Biedermann.
The guitar solos are very fine.

527.4KIRKTN::IGOLDIEwhats that funky smell?Sat Jul 27 1991 07:319
    I caught one of their singles on the tv the other day,quite impressive.
    I can't remember the name of the song but it showed the guitarist
    building his own guitar.Good riffs,fine solos and good vocals,almost
    quite harmonious(if there is such a word).I'll try to get the title abd
    get back on it.

Re. Staynz

If you like Metallica's AJFA, you'll probably like this one. It's mostly quite
mid tempo and very long. Finally I haven't enjoyed it too much, but this is a
problem of taste.
