405.0. "Re-animator" by KETJE::VLASIU () Thu Feb 07 1991 06:24

    This topic is for the british band named Re-animator.
    I've read some good critics about and, because of a good occasion, I
    bought on CD their second album "Condemned to eternity" which includes
    as a bonus their first EP "Deny reality". It was a good surprise. Like
    Slammer, Re-animator is influenced by Metallica and plays very well.
    It's a mixture of good quality thrash and mostly speed metal. There are
    few songs of about 6-7 minutes and they really create a fine Metallica
    mood (even for the vocals). But Metallica still has those wicked guitar
    solos which in this case are fine but less impressive.
    I understood that their new album is more power metal oriented and
    received good critics also. In any case they deserve a listening and
    thus, the CD recommended.

    "Laughing" is their new album and I think it's less good than the
    previous works. They abandonned their effective Metallica style in
    favor of some power metal and funk mixture. But they are not as
    inventive as Scatterbrain and the new album fails to hook me. All their
    talent which was evident before is now made quite invisible. I'll try
    to listen again the album but I'm really not too impressed. The best
    songs are still those which recall the earlier albums.
