194.0. "Mastedon" by PNO::HEISER (ultimate, underlyin', no denyin' motivation) Fri Sep 28 1990 15:25

Another band worth checking out. Band members are:

    John Elefante (ex-Kansas)
    Dino Elefante
    Dave Amato (ex-Ted Nugent)
    James Dean Longacre
    Tom Bowes

Their debut release (on Pakaderm label) was "It's a Jungle Out There!".
They've just followed that up with another jewel, "Lofcaudio".

The Elefante brothers have been songwriting for/producing many of
Christian rocks biggest groups. The artistic frustration this must
cause has helped create two great releases worthy of mainstream
    attention.

I bought the debut, "It's a Jungle Out There", yesterday. Some great
stuff on here! All songs were written by John & Dino Elefante, except
for "Shine On", which was written by Bob Hartman of Petra. Since the
Elefante brothers are usually busy producing other artists' work, they
were able to call on a lot of help to get their material out quickly.
    The variety is great too!

The Players (a lot of familiar faces):

Drums - David Raven, Phil Rowland, John Elefante
Bass - Dino Elefante, John Pierce, John Patitucci, Jimmy Johnson
Guitar - Dino Elefante (Rhythm), Dave "Pittsy" Amato (Lead), guest
spots by Oz Fox (Stryper) and Steff Burnbaum.
    Keys - John Elefante
    Lead Vocals:
John Elefante - This is the Day, Islands in the Sky, Get Up
Dave Amato - Glorybound, Right Hand, Love That Will Survive
Perry Lee - Love Inhalation, Innocent Girl (never heard
him before but has a great HM voice!)
Dave Robbins - It's A Jungle Out There (sounds like Dio)
Dave Pack - Shine On (also sang on Livgren's first solo LP)

Endorsements go to: Marshall amps (killer sounds!), Kramer guitars, Bob
Bradshaw systems, Korg keys, TC Electronics processors, Dean Markley
    strings, and Pearl drums.

I've picked about 6 songs from here to put on my Christian HM sampler.
At this rate, I may need a CD length tape ;-)

194.3thumbs up for Lofcaudio!PNO::HEISERwhen the reign comes downTue Dec 18 1990 12:1019
After my purchases last week, I came up with 4 coupons to get my free
tape. I liked the first Mastedon tape so much, that I went and bought
their new one without listening to it.

This tape is also great! It doesn't have the edge that the first one
does, but there are still lots of great songs on here.

Vocals: Dave Amato, Tom Bowes, John Elefante, James Dean Longacre
Backing vocals: John Elefante, Dave Amato, Bob Carlisle (from Allies)
Guitars: Tony Palacios (plays Ibanez guitars), Dino Elefante, Dave
             Amato, Michael Thompson, Steph Burns
    Bass: John Pierce, Dino Elefante
Keyboards: John Elefante, John Andrew Schreiner
Drums: David Raven, Phil Rowland, Mac Jack

to the usual legal entanglement, thanks!!!"
