110.3 | Punishment for decadence | KETJE::VLASIU | | Thu Sep 20 1990 06:35 | 12 |
| "Punishment for decadence" is Coroner's 2nd album and follows in the
style of "R.I.P" with the same fast and heavy punching. All the songs
are fine and well produced. Excellent guitar/bass/drum work and deep
heavy vocals. They close the album with a cover of Jimmy Hendrix's
"Purple Haze" which fits fine with the rest.
About Jimmy, on 18th of September there were 20 years since he died.
May he rest in peace.
Now, back to Coroner, they recall sometime Motrhead but with a much
more clear sound and also variated.

| Re. .4
Thanx Motorbreath, I like both of the albums with a slight subjective preference
for "R.I.P" which is the first I heard. "R.I.P" is also in mid-price (sure the
music counts first ... but if I can pay less it's even better). So, I think, go
for "R.I.P". But, the offer in .5 for a swap is also very interesting ..
"Punishment.." is very well done but my very favourite songs are on "R.I.P".
Check for "Born through hate", "Fried alive" or "When angels die".
In any case if you like (which I think you'll do) "R.I.P" you'll go also for
"Punishment.." and later, like me now, for "No more color" (I wait to receive
it these days).
Enjoy,
Sorin

110.7 | No more colors | KETJE::VLASIU | Organizing snail-fights | Mon Oct 01 1990 07:14 | 8 |
| "No more color" is Coroner's last to date and follows in the same high
standard as "R.I.P" and "Punishment for decadence". It is *very*
violent and energetic form the begining to the end. It's short (about
34 mins.) but I think it's so dense that the length doesn't matter. It
takes you away from the beginning and lets you breathless at the end.
Well recommended but not for the anyone.

| sorin, motorbreath,
spike from scotland here on nick's account. good to see some
coroner fans i thought i was the only one. The "NO MORE COLOUR" video
live from Berlin is a must for any CORONER fan. "No need to be human"
"Masked jackal" have to go down as some of the best. For three guys
they make a lot of noise. Did you guys know that Coroner used to be the
road crew for another rather big HM band . If you can't find out who
the band was I'll update you at a later date . Catch the N.M.C VID if
you get the chance and keep moshin'.

| The new album, "Mental vortex" seems to be also very fine. Heavy punching riffs
and an excellent cover of Beatles' "I want you (she's so heavy)".

| I don`t know if it`s possible now,but try and get a hold of their
first demo tape. It really is excellent, and i remember being very
disappointed with R.I.P. (1st album) as compared to the demo. (The
demo has songs which don`t appear on their albums).
