The band clearly sounds like Dokken with minor changes.They
use the patented guitar licks and vocals....I bought this tape from
Strawberries under the 'new artists program'..trial play...They will
give you credit if your not satisfied.

Mike,
They were really good!! Their music is progressive, which
I like. The drummer was the best in the band IMHO. He was really hot
$hit, and kept doing these incredible rolls with his double basses.
I had a chance to talk with their new singer (Eric) for quite a while
after our show and he was really nice and informative. Over all it
went well and no problems with attitudes or egos. S

| Well I picked this one up yesterday too. While I don't like it as much
as Mastedon's (due to my tastes I guess), it is still an excellent
debut!
Terry "The Animal" Russell is endorsed by Sabian and Rimshot.
Guitarists Jamie Cramer and Andy Robbins are both endorsed by Ampeg,
Westone, and Alvarez.
I thought their blend of acoustics and electrics from hell were
interesting. I don't recall hearing anything similar before. My
favorites are "Stranger", "Tear Down the Walls", "When the Reign Comes
Down", "Lies", and "We are Young, We Are Strong" on the metal side.
"See No Evil" is also an interesting song. Anyone see the video yet?
"The Pain Inside of Me" is a pretty good metal ballad too!
When I get my sampler mailed out, you guys will know what I'm talking
about ;-)

| Eric Wayne, who many of us thought for sure would step in as the
permanent replacement for Holy Soldier's vocal position (vacated by
Steven Patrick last summer), has decided to stay in his own band -
Seattle's Red Reign. The band tenatively plans to hit the studio
this month. One possibility is recording with Steven Patrick and then
looking for another touring replacement. David Zaffiro will probably
be the producer for this album as well.
In other band news, guitarist Jamie Cramer got married recently. The
ceremony was in Wyoming, where Michelle grew up. Not far behind is
drummer Terry Russell, who will be getting hitched in June.

probably go pick up their tape as these songs are really starting to

blues/funk styled band. Jamie Cramer will perform all the guitar

Cutting has selected a drummer and bassist and is currently looking for
a vocalist. It's interesting that his ads sport a Scottsdale address.
The band's new album should be out within a couple months. It'll be
tough to beat their debut so it should be interesting. They've won
quite a few awards for their debut album.

27.34 | Anyone listen to these guys (besides Mike?) | GOES11::G_HOUSE | Germ Killer, Plaque Slayer | Sun May 24 1992 12:03 | 16 |
| Hmm... no mention of Holy Soldier's second album, Last Train?
I picked up both of their CDs awhile back and they've gotten quite a
bit of play around my house (at least in my limited "play time"). The
first album definately grows on you and has a lot of energy. Last
Train, while it has it's moments, it not to my tastes as much. They
kind of backed off the "high energy" stuff and do more bluesy sounding
things. Like I say, it's good, but not my favorite.
I hope they manage to work through all the personal changes and the
fact that this second album probably didn't do as well as the first (I
heard almost nothing about it) and stick it out to put out more
material.

| Well, I relistened to "Last Train" this weekend with a fresh mind (not
having listened to a lot of other music before putting it on) and it
wasn't as bad as I'd thought before. It's definately got some good
songs on it. It think what it is that bothers me is the order of the
songs on the CD, since there are a few toward the end that seem to drag
a little.
In any case, I've decided that it's a good album and definately worth
having, even though I still prefer the first one.

27.37 | "Holy Soldier GREAT LIVE!! | SALEM::STIG | | Wed Sep 09 1992 15:36 | 6 |
| I personally think that they should get into more of a raw sound. I
think David Zaffiro over-produces the over-all sound just a
bit...although I love Zaffiro's guitar work especially with Bloodgood.

27.39 | | SALEM::STIG | | Thu Sep 10 1992 10:38 | 6 |
| I think what is happening is that David Zaffiro is Producing the way he
wants it. Have you heard David's solo stuff? It's the same production
and sound. And some of it lacks ENERGY!! I also like there first album
and I saw them live! They use samplers for the backup vocals like
Stryper does. A bit too much for me. I personally like that RAW sound
better. But, other than that they sound great live with a show.

27.41 | "A little head-banger" | SALEM::STIG | | Thu Sep 10 1992 14:32 | 3 |

|
27.43 | Rex-Rulz | SALEM::STIG | | Tue Sep 15 1992 08:21 | 7 |
| The lyrics are simple and strate to the point. The type of lyrics that
I write. The singer is a good front man---he gets the crowd going. The
sound live is a bit empty cause the guitarists speed style is just to
much for style of the music they play. But there are some songs that
fit into his style. Rex Carroll rulz on guitar!! I personally think he
should try another style with maybe another band. He needs more of a
"Racer X" type band/style.
