378.0. "Front, The" by VCSESU::COOK (We have other uses for you darling...) Fri Mar 16 1990 09:03

Well, I might as well start it. The Front backed up Alice Cooper
the other night. Their song "Fire" has been getting some airplay.
He said at the show that they've been up and down the east coast
    3 times.

They didn't hit me as a typical pop metal band, some of their
stuff had some great changes in it that really threw me off.

I also thought the drummer was excellent.

I saw The Front at Axis about a month or two ago. I thought these guys
were pretty good considering I only knew one song they did. I thought
the singer had great stage presence. Does anyone have their tape?
And, if so could you give me a review? I was thinking of picking this
    one up. - Kim

I also was impressed by The Front live. The show at the Orpheum is everything
I would want in an opening band - good, clean sound; good songs; an energetic
stage show; and even a good cover tune ("Sunshine of Your Love").

I'll have to pick up the album and check it out.....

I highly recomend their album - I picked up the cassette in
Strawberries. Definetely a "rocker" album. Play it LOUD!

p.s.- better get in on this group soon - from how good they are
(IMO) they won't last, some producer's bound to f*ck them
           up! ;^)

re: Pete

I'm trying to remember what was said. I *think* it was something like "We
started this tour in Houston", and then went on to say how much they liked
the crowd here, etc.

Not sure, but I think that's right...

I wish the radio stations would play something other than
"Fire" so I could get an idea of the other stuff they do.

I'll double that. In fact, I thought "Fire" was one of the weakest songs in
their set. However, it does sound pretty good on the radio. Although I haven't
heard the album yet, I imagine that if you like the recent Cult output, you'll
also be happy with the Front's album.

I heard another song by them last night, but I don't rem-
    	ember what it was.

I do know that I liked it though ... I might have to get
    	this album.
