The album is called "A bit of what you fancy" and is awsome!!!!
This band ranks in my fav top 5 at the moment. They aren't really
metal, more like old rock (lots of piano and slide guitar).
Strongly recomended !

Piano and slide guitar? Sounds kinda like Blackfoot, or
at least someone from that genre, no?

Yep I've got the album, highly reccommended.
I'd agree with Tone, sorta Rockin Rod Stewart with slide Guitars. Good rocking
stuff with a bit of blues thrown in.
Have you heard anything over there yet ?

Umm.. FWIW, the actual name of the band is "The London
Quireboys" and I almost started a topic on them but I
remembered someone mentioning them.
Anyway, I caught the video for "It's 7 o'clock" (?) and
thought it was great! The lead singer looks a bit like
Tracii Guns (?) and IMO, they sound like they've got a
bit of Rod Stewart influence.
Better add this one to the list. (8

They don't even have the word 'the' in front of their name (or a space in it)
as far as the album goes (I have it here in front of me) they are called:
Quireboys.
(they used to be called the Queerboys, but that was thought a bit too dodgy)
Obviously in the US they are known as the London Quireboys (I don't know why).
What is on this demo ? 7 O'Clock
Hey You
Sex Party
Mayfair ?

| The promo I have in my hot little hands right now is by "The
London Quireboys". (Yes, Quireboys is written as one word on the
tape cover.)
There are 5 men on the cover sitting in a large open area of
what appears to be a church. Stained glass windows in the
background.
The 4 songs on this tape from Capitol Records are;
7 O Clock
I Don't Love You Anymore
Whippin' Boy
Hey You.
Seems to be that there is just one band.

"7:00" sounds alot like older Rod Stewart stuff, both in
vocals and overall sound of the music.
If you like that stuff, you'll like these guys.

| Exactly! I thought it was Faces when I first hear it.
I listened to the 4 song demo and wasn't terribly impressed with
it. It really sounded too much like Rod Stewart for me. Not a
tape that I'd go out and buy.

This morning I finally put the song with the name. YUCK!!!! No
talent!! ( Maybe that's a little strong ) But, I'm just getting sick
of bands that have no originality, they sound like they were just
thrown together in a week. - JMHO - Kim

RE: Pete
While I can't say that they're entire album is great (the
demo Vicki let me have is merely ok) I don't think they're
THAT bad.
Then again, I like the Rod Stewart "influence" they have.

The London Quireboys at Axis..Wednesday June 6,1990
There's nothing fancy abou the London Quireboys.
Despite being booked on a usual Axis heavy metal night, the Quireboys are
simply just a solid rock 'n' roll band, the mold of the Faces and the Rolling
Stones.
At Axis, the British sextet whipped through a tight 70-minute set. Though
the initial focus was on singer Spike - whose gruff, expressive voice is
reminiscent of Rod Stewart - ultimately he was another instrument in the
Quireboys' earthy mix.
Grounded firmly by the powerful rhythm section of drummer Rudy Richman and
bassist Nigel Moog, guitarists Guy Bailey and Guy Griffin provided just the
right twangy, chunky, no-frills, fretwork while Chris Johnstone added
rollicking honky-tonk Keyboards.
Live, the band surpassed its fine debut album in rough 'n' tumble grit.
"Sweet Mary Ann". "There She Goes Again", and "Hey You" gained a harder
edge while "I Don't Love You Anymore" took on extra urgency and "Roses
& Rings" extra sweetness (whether its similarity to "Maggie May" is
affectionate or annoying is still uncertain).
As with the album, the only flaw of the evening was the amateurishly juvenile
"Sex Party".

| Took me a while to pick this one up but now that it is in CBS/Columbia

sounds SO Rod Stewartish (who I like) is that producer is Jim Cregan
who was the guitarist for Rod on Foot Loose and Fancy Free, and other
albums.....
