134.0. "River Dogs" by IOSG::PERKINS (There's that f*cking bazooka again!) Fri Dec 15 1989 06:46

The River Dogs have just began work on their debut album
for CBS. It will be produced by Michael Frondelli in LA.
The band features ex-DIO/WhiteSnake guitarist Viv Campbell.

I read somewhere that they were supposed to be doing some gigs and
they were billed by one venue as :-

"The River Dogs, featuring ex-Whitesnake guitarist Vivian Campbell".

Anyways, the band went skit and refused to do the show. I guess
they want to be booked on the bands own merits, rather than ride
on Viv's back (and quite right too methinks).

How are these guys? I see Vivian Campbell all over the guitar mags but
    I've never heard him play.

Viv Campbell played with Dio a few years ago on at least
"The Last In Line", and maybe "Holy Diver".

The Dio albums Vivian played on are :-

    Holy Diver
    Last In Line
    Sacred Heart

He was also bought in to replace John Sykes with Whitesnake, but he
didn't get to record with them, he just toured.

Vivian also worked with a band called Trinity, just ater he left
Whitesnake and I believe he recorded one album with them (I think).

Talking of Dio, did y'all know that the first guitarist to join Dio
BEFORE Vivan Campbell was none other than Jake E Lee ?

Correction...Jake never "joined" Dio...Jake was helping Ronnie out for
a while with auditions (looking for drummers), but he never was actually
    IN the band.
