740.0. "Monroe, Michael" by BUFFER::GOLDSMITH (Zippoman) Wed Nov 15 1989 12:38

With the excitement of the Michael Monroe show coming up, I thought it
would be the appropriate time to enter a note for one of the original
    glam rockers.

I read Rolling Stone's review of the album, and though I don't listen
to their opinions during my own personal choices, they said that his
    new album was great.

Does anyone have the album? If so, how is it? Any shades of Hanoi
Rocks from the past? How do you expect the show to be?

People have mentioned Krazler as the opener. I know some dude who
works(ed) at Wurlitzer Music in Framingham whose name was Krazz. It
wouldn't be the same guy would it?

    Have at it!

I got the album, it kicks butt.

Got some great tunes on it, I haven't heard any of his other
stuff with h.rocks, so I can't really compare it, but this stuff
sounds like Guns N' Roses meets Aerosmith. Damn good.

Hanoi Rocks were the biz! Vince Neil should have been shot for what he
    did to Razzle.

    I got the CD!

First thing that comes to mind is that this dude kicks A$$ on the
harmonica! He really wails. It's cool, because it's not your normal
tired old guitar solos album. Seriously, I can't wait to see them
tonight cause they are gonna rock.

So far, the tunes I'm into after 2 listens:
Not Fakin It; Death, Jail, or Rock n' Roll; and the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th
tunes. I don't remember the names.

There's one other band playing with them. Destruction or Devestation
or something like that I think. I heard it on the radio. They're
    supposed to be good, though.

    See ya at the show!

740.14How do I get this d*mn wristband off?!?ASDS::NIXONIt was something like shrapnelSat Nov 18 1989 09:2220
Absolutely a killer show last night!!!! Thank you Terry!

I can't give a good report on what songs were played from his
new album as I haven't picked it up yet. I'm off to get it in a
while. What I can tell you is that if you like down 'n dirty rock
you will love Michael Monroe!! God, I love that Marshall sound!!

They also took us for a walk down memory lane with some Hanoi
Rocks tunes. Absolutely fantastic! Monroe was never still on
stage. Racing from one side to another, playing harmonica and sax
and talking to the audience his energy was everywhere.

What'd you think Steve? Maybe you can fill in the names of the
songs that he did since I don't know them. What'd you think of the
slogan he's using?? "Rock like f**k" I was hysterical when I saw
that on the pic he had autographed for Terry and then on the back
     of teeshirts!!

Hot Kitty (with her own personally autographed pic of the new
     		   album!!!)
740.15What wristband? :-)BUFFER::GOLDSMITHZippomanMon Nov 20 1989 09:3534
Huh? What was that you said? What? Are you talking to me?

Yes, Vick, I thought he played a good show. He's definetly got the
energy... I was kind of tired of the "Rock like f**k" thing...it's
kind of like "untamed radio" it gets to you after a few too many times.
He was funny, though. He kept cracking jokes that no one got and then
laughed for a couple of minutes.

Anyway, about the music, I thought it was really good. They were
really having a good time and the songs were all played well and LOUD!
He jammed on the harmonica and sax...didn't know the man could play!
He wins for the best glam dude, though. You won't see Mike Tramp doing
    that kind of stuff!!

He didn't do all the songs from his album... Dead, Jail, or R n' R...
Not Fakin' It... While You Were Looking at Me... Man With No Eyes...
and a few others I don't remember. I was too busy having people get me
Bud talls... :-) He did a few Hanoi Rocks tunes and closed out the
show with a rocking Little Richard medley. Very good show. I give it
    a thumbs up!

I saw the Unattached, who opened. The were good. Kind of dorky
singer, but a good sounding band. They did a song for Alice Cooper's
    Trash album.

As a little side note...the funny thing about the show was that they
were playing Motley Crue's Shout at the Devil album in between the
sets! Very ironic...(for those of you that don't know...Hanoi Rocks'
drummer (?) Razzle was killed by Vince Neil in a drunk driving
    accident).

Good show. Too cold to hang out, though.
