"Fox on the Run" was the first 45 I ever bought!
And it's still a kick-*** tune!

I'm not real familiar with 'em except for 'Desolation Boulevard' LP
and a couple singles ("Action", "Love is Like Oxygen"), but a good
rock'n'roll band. I hear a lot of them in Poison (I think I already
said that in the Poison note).

I too liked Sweet, at least a couple of theirs. I thought Desolation
Blvd was a really good album. Didn't Krokus do a cover of Ballroom
Blitz off this album? I didn't care for some of the subsequent
stuff, most notably the album that had 'Love is like Oxygen' (which
made me want to give up both...).

God, it must have been a long time ago that Love Is Like Oxygen
and Fox On The Run came out. I remember sitting at Papa Gino's
with my parents playing those songs on the little jukeboxes.

About how long ago was that?

Yeah, I remember "Love Is Like Oxygen"... it used to be
one of my favorite tunes... I'll have to check it out again
and see if it withstands the test of time... few songs do.

When I was in Knoxville my little brother dragged out a
tape I had given him ten years ago... STARZ - Colesium Rock...
it still sounded the same, only different. You could say
it did not withstand the test of time.

That must have been about 73-74 when Desolation Blvd was popular
and the other one (can't say the word) was about 77-78.

Geez, Greg, dredge up some OLD ones...STARZ! I remember them.
I think I might still have one of their tapes at home. Have to
dig it out and give it a listen.

The Sweet were great but hardly what your average modern day 17-year
    old HM-Thrash-Death-Hardcore-Mosh fan would fancy.
They were pure bubblegum in the beginning(WigWam Bam, Little Willie
etc.). Then later they tried to get some street cred by playing
more HM-sounding music. They faded when punk and new wave hit in
-77. My kid brother saw them in -75 i Stockholm and they were
im his words 'pathethic'. Encored with The Whos 'My generation'
and the roadies handed them some cheapo guitars to smash...Wimps!
Appearently the singer, Brian Conelly, is now fronting a band
called Sweet and touring the Brittish cabraret cirquit. He is
according to rumour, an aged, flabby, alcoholic living on past
    memories.
When your at the top there is only one way to go...down!

AH THE SWEET one of my favorite old bands.

I've read somewhere that they are reforming with Brian
Connelly and Steve Priest with none other than Ritchie Blackmore
playing on some of the songs. I'm not sure about Drummer Mick Tucker
    and guitarist Andy Scott.

If someone could get me a copy of Identity Crisis
I would be forever greatful. I've been trying to get a copy for
    years now.

I'll be waiting to hear how this new album is...

I say them play at the Orpheum at their peak with
Eric Carmen as a back up. Everyone expected this Poppy band but instead
this hard rock tight sounding band emerged. I loved it.

They were definitely a great band that just hit at
the wrong time between Disco and Punk.

FYI---The latest word is that Brian Connelly and Steve Priest
are supposedly trying to release an album with Ritchie Blackmore
contributing under the name the Sweet. The other two members Andy
Scott and Mick Tucker claim they have the rights to the name and
are supposedly releasing a Live album soon.

I Say---Why don't they just come back together?

-1, That's an interesting point because Sweet's multi harmonies
were one of their greatest assets. Brian Connelly was actually the
Lead Singer. Love is Like Oxygen, Action etc... But steve Priest
use to sing alot of different lines himself like the higher vocal
passages and shared songs like Ballroom Blitz (The crazy lines)
The man at the back etc... From A cut above the rest and on, Priest
and Scott shared lead vocals when Connelly departed. Ronnie James
Dio wanted to replace Connelly but Priest and Scott had great voices
so they decided to split the lead vocals with occasionally Tucker
taking one and his voice is pretty decent.

So if Connelly and Priest hook up I'd say they would surely
have the vocals. But Andy Scott was a main influence in their music
with songs like Set Me Free, and others so musically with Tucker on drums
musically the songs would have that Sweet sound.

The easiest thing to do would just be to hook up and reform
Sweet with all four but they may be just wishful thinking...

Am I correct in thinking that "No Strings Attached" was released

    reply .10,

I think that you are referring to Strung up...

This was a two record set. Record one contained some of their
greatest studio hits at that time. Action, Ballroom Blitz, an extended
version of I wanna Be Committed, Blockbuster and the sixteens. Also some
B sides Burn on the Flame and Miss Demeanor were included.

Album two was Live and contained a great live performance of B
sides and early heavier hits from their american album The Sweet. Live
versions of Hellraiser, Done somebody wrong and others. The song that
stands out the most was Someone Else Will this was a Who type rocker
with the lyrics if you don't F**k us then some one else will. The
    recording soundwise was awesome...
