| Didn't Steve Jones have an album out last year???
I remember hearing a cut from it a few times, I thought it was cool!
BTW he also did a lot of writing with Iggy Pop on Ig's last album
BLAH BLAH BLAH (which is great, BTW).

Yeah, he released an album about 3 years ago, with most of the tuens
co-written by Andy Taylor (ex-Duran Duran). The album was OK, but I was a
little disappointed that it didn't rock more than it did. I think it was
entitled "No Mercy".

His new album had an early August release date supposedly, but I haven't
been able to find it in the stores. He's released one single from it, and its
pretty good...Good enough for me to go buy the album!
If anyone here finds it, lemme know where?

638.5 | It was really heavy | CASEE::LALLI | Didier - BCE Valbonne - ext. 828.5423 | Wed Aug 23 1989 04:27 | 8 |
| I've heard a tune last night on the radio and it sounds very heavy to me.
Nothing much left from the Pistols then. I found the voice not very good, but
the guitar work was better than I expected. I like the Sex Pistols, but the
guitar always seemed pretty simple (but strong) to me.
Look like ex-punk rockers now bang their heads.

Re: a few back
Steve Jones worked with Iggy on Instinct, not Blah Blah Blah. He
played guitar on the album, though Andy McCoy replaced him on tour.

au contraire mon frere (I love that Butterfinger commercial)
I beg to differ.
Steve Jones co-wrote three songs with Iggy on BLAH BLAH BLAH
(Fire Girl, Cry for Love, and Winners and Losers) and also played
lead guitar on Cry for Love.
David Bowie was a key contributor to the Igster on the album
as well.

OK, I was wrong. Jones did help out on Blah Blah Blah, as well as
Instinct. What do you do for an encore? 8^)

638.10 | It's out! | BUFFER::GOLDSMITH | I'm a Sun King baby! | Fri Aug 25 1989 13:55 | 10 |
| I've seen the album at Strawberries, but decided not to get it yet.
It's out, though.
Andy Taylor worked w/Steve on his album, and Steve worked with Andy on
his album, Thunder, which had 2 really good tunes, and 8 really bad
tunes. Anyway, Steve can really play guitar. If his old stuff was
cool, maybe I'll have to get this one. And with Ian and Axl on one
tune, it's got to be cool.

Well, I finally found the CD at Strawberries in Auburn MA.
It's called "Fire and Gasoline", and has some rockin' stuff
on it.
I don't know any of the Sex Pistols' stuff, so I can't comp-
are ... but I do like this.
The best is "Freedom Fighter" - it's been on the HBB before.
He also does a cover of "Suffriagette City" ... but I'll save
that for another topic.

| I finally bought this CD a few days ago...
It's not as good as I was hoping for. Not anywhere NEAR...
They do a Sex Pistols tune... I Did U No Wrong (with Axl and Ian)
He does a song called Leave Your Shoes On, which goes to the effect of
I picked up a girl, got her, and then kicked her out. An admirable
feat, but nonetheless not a great tune.
On the CD, they do Bowie's "Suffrogate City", which isn't that good.
Get this, he says "aaaaaahhhHHHHH...Wham, bam, thank you Sam" I can't
help but laugh until I cry when I hear that. It's so funny you can't
even get mad at him.
The MTV single "Freedom Rider" might just be the best tune on the
album, but it doesn't go any farther than that.
Oh, well, nice try, Steve.

I hope they work on the vocals.
Coincidentally, I happen to be "tolerating" the vocals
on the new album right now.
