625.0. "Yes" by FDCV10::GARCIA (Close to the Edge...) Mon Aug 07 1989 09:44

Just wanted to comment on the 'Yes' show last night at Grape Woods.
It was an awesome piece of work! and wrapping up with Starship Trooper
was the ultimate.... BTW - Hats off to Bruce Levin, I see why Gabriel
    is doing so well.

Boy where was my head on monday?!? aftermath of sitting in the front
row near the speakers I guess... First off I should have posted
this in the MUSIC conference. Secondly, It was Tony, not 'Bruce' Levin
that was on Bass! Sorry folks...

Former YES keyboard wiz, Rick Wakeman, has just released his first
Christian album, In The Beginning. The album contains original
compositions and readings from scripture by his actress/wife Nina
    Carter.

He attends Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, CA. (along with many other
notable artists such as Larry Carlton).

clear of Metal Forces and Kerrang!! Nothing's sacred!

Well Howe about that then! What are they calling themselves this time
    around 'Well Maybe'!

Used to like their stuff, but that was then and this is now!

I only buy Metal Hammer for its Metal Encyclopedia and I'll stop after
(they already made few fatal errors by forgetting to include Coroner
and Slayer !!! not to mention other bands). Your news are very precious
for my CD searching. My favourite HM critic (after you, surely),
Ian Kenyon writes for Which CD (now in Hi Fi News).
    :-)

    Re. GAZ

90125 was quite fine but I don't know if Yes can bring new things now.
Surely they remain very good musicians, but is this sufficient ? Let's
    wait.

....I think it's cuz they ran out of money!!!!!!!

Maybe Trevor Rabin will get in a rockin' band.

And I wanna see if Steve Howe remains the most consistently
inconsistent guitarist. He's done some great stuff in the past,
he's done some stinkers as well. I, for one, thought Rabin breathed
a lot of freshness into Yes on 90125. I'll listen anyway, if it's
bad I'll just say no to Yes.

Rick (Rich?) Wakeman's last 2 releases have been on a Christian label.
Maybe he didn't make enough $. ;-) It costs a LOT to live in Costa
    Mesa!

Eight former members of Yes are uniting for YESSHOWS '91. It will be a
one-time-only world tour that starts in N.America in April. It will be
stopping at the Worcester,Ma. Centrum on April 17th. I know I'll be
there because I work backstage security. BTW tickets go on sale this
Saturday. I also know that there are rumors flying around Centrum
management that they are trying to book Queen for late April and Guns N
Roses for three shows in early June timeframe.

I went to see Yes on the 30th June at Wembley Arena.

It was very good (if not a tad egotistical), but they didn't play
Starship Trooper (booo!!). It was all based around a large round stage
in the middle of the Arena, that slowly rotated.

    Most impressive...

I am just back from my holidays and I just have to say that I went to
see YES at Wembly Arena on the 28th, 29th & 30th June..

I have to agree that it was just amazing and that they even played
The Awaken, for me that made my night.( All three of them )..

        It's not 90210 - it's 90215
And I know for sure it's not on either of those two.

I love there early stuff - Close to the Edge,Fragile, Tales ...,
"Awaken". I just think like many bands, they entered the hip-hop rock
of the early 80's. It's not bad but the younger stuff was better. I
feel this way about Rush too.

Yeah, that's about what I think too. I like some of the later stuff
(by both bands mentioned), but it's almost like listening to a
    different band.
