| Good band! I was really into them back around '79/'80, my last year of
high school and first year of college.
I liked the first three albums better then the more recent ones. After
(and including) "4" they seemed to lose their edge and got more of a
commercial, "I wanna make lots of money" type sound.
One of my favorite songs was the title track from "Head Games" (I like
the lyrics, meaning I *don't* like head games).
Lou Gramm also had a solo album out about 3-4 years ago. It had a hit
with the song "Midnight Blue" (which I liked a lot).

My favorite by them is "Long Way from Home" ... great stuff!!
"Juke Box Hero" is in the top 3 also.
"Double Vision" completes the top 3 ... but not in that order.

Foreigner's first was definitely the best. One of my favorite
accoustic songs of all time is "The Damage is Done." There is also
a pretty good song off of Head Games called "Love on the Telephone"
that I like also.

I've always liked Foreigner. They did have some
descent tunes out back in the late 70's, early
80's. I would have to agree though, that `Inside
Information' wasn't the best album I've heard,
but some of the tracks aren't half bad either.
`Down On Love' comes to mind from Agent
Provocateur, as well as the aforementioned `Love
in Vain'. (I'm drawing a blank now. :^))
They also had an instrumental on Hot Blooded,
second side, second track, but the only name I
can think of is something like `Transmaniacon
MC'. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
(Which I probably am) That wasn't a bad tune when
cranked. :^)
Definately a group that deserves credit. They
were definately kick-a$$ when I went to school,
but as things change through the years, they did
mellow a little.

My fav- was the "Head Games" LP. Mostly because of the tune,
Dirty White Boy! A real rocker I thought! Plus a couple of the
other tunes on that album. Love on a red Line? I think is another.

I have their newest, "Inside Information". It's excellent.
Maybe not as rockin' as previous releases but a well put together
album nonetheless. "When a Heart Turns to Stone" is one of the
songs you might be familiar with.

Quite honestly, I don't remember the song, but I really doubt that was
the name. That's an old BoC song (and a good one at that).

Well. . .I know it was something strange like
that. I'll take a look at the album tonight and
get the real name. It was something weird like
that too.
In answer to your question. . .yeah. . .BoC
on the brain, and all I heard this morning was
Godzilla. :^)

Being the Foreigner fan that I am I ran across an $1.99 album
this past weekend buried in the "G's"...It was by Lou Grammatico.
.....now known as Lou Gramm! Not bad for a 1970 first album....
-my two cents worth-

| I've also *was* a big Foreigner fan until 4 came out
big disappointment. Head Games was their pinnacle album. I think it
was the last one with Al Greenwood (keys). I never bought anything
after 4.
Best songs: Long way from home, Need you, At war with
the world, Head Knocker, double vision, Blue morning blue day, spell
binder, lonely Children, head games, rev on the reline, love on
the telephone, dirty white boy.
Just my opinion

| ...just wanted to say that I recently completed my Foreigner
collection by pickin' up the "Head Games" CD. I'm amazed that
I didn't get round to this one sooner, coz it has some classy
rockin' tracks which certainly merit some "volume".
I particularly like " Seventeen" , especially the Mick Jones
style "scratch" lead towards the end.
Other faves off the album are "Dirty White Boy" ; "Rev on the
Red Line" and "Love on the Telephone"
I must agree with earlier notes, I prefer Foreigner up to and
including the "4" album. I found their subsequent stuff too
inhibited by tonnes of keys (there are a "few" exceptions)
and (I believe the word is ..) "schmaltz".

| Caught the "new" Foreigner last nice in a excellent live show
in Syracuse, NY. This show didn't quite sell out but came close.
I figured a lot of people thought Foreigner without Lou Gramm wouldn't
be as good. From what I could tell nothing was missing. Their new
singer, Johnny Edwards, has got the Gramm voice nailed. Seriously,
a lot of songs the comparison was incredible. No doubt the crowd
came to hear the familiar Foreigner classics and the band delivered
them well. The new songs "Low Down and Dirty" and "Only Heaven Knows"
went over quite well. Their new CD is titled "Unusual Heat" and after
a few listens I give it a thumbs up. The touring band was a six-piecer.
The main original member is guitarist Mick Jones. The bass player was
not in the original Foreigner but was on the last three or four albums.
All the little embellishments were there, the sax solo in "Urgent", the
multi-layer chorus in "I want to know what love is", and the original
guitar solos done to the "T".
Opening song: Long, Long way from Home
In between: Low Down and Dirty
Feels like the First time
Waiting for a girl like you
Dirty White Boy
Urgent
Only Heaven Knows
Juke Box Hero
I want to know what love is
Cold as Ice
Encore: Hot Blooded
That's not all the songs, but just what I can remember on the Monday
after a concert. BTW - XYZ opened the show and were very impressive.

| Foreigner has a new album coming out. I *think* it is a greatest hits package,
but I'm not sure about that. Either way, I heard a new song on the radio
the other day - Lou Gramm was back singing with the band! Not only that, but
this song totally rocked! It reminded me a lot of the sound they had around
the "Dirty White Boy" era. Way cool!

Gee- I just saw their CD Unusual Heat (1990) in the cut-out bin
for $6.99. So far that's the only Foreigner album without Lou Gramm
on vocals. And hows this for a coincidence - the only CD from a
band called Shadowking (w/Lou Gramm, Vivian Campbell) was in the cut-out
bin as well. No wonder Gramm is back with Foreigner!!
