Steve Stevens now has his own band called Steve Stevens Atomic
Playboys.
They just released and album under the same name on the Warner label.

You're KIDDING! the radio said, last night, that it wouldn't
be out for three more weeks! I was gonna ask Kerry to snag
me the CD....and the new Steve Jones that should be out this
month!
Time to go to Budget (even tho its not ON my 'budget'!!) :-)

Well I picked up this cd this last weekend. If you like Steve
Stevens with Billy Idol, you'll love this new one. Some of the
songs sound really in the style of the Billy Idol sound. Some of
the songs are really hot, some I haven't made up my mind on. May-
be after a few more times listening I'll have a different point
of view. Any comments from anyone? Ya just gotta love this guys
guitar work!

| Yo,
I saw Steve on MTV (HBBall) and he said he's got an acoustic
instrumental on the album. What'd you think of it?
The tune they play in their first video was decent. I wasn't jumping
up and down about it, but I love everything that Stevens has done
so far, so I'll definitely check it out.

Motorbreath, The instrumental you spoke of is very good. It's kinda
short but good. Did you know that Stevens even does some lead singing
on his album. I listened to it a couple of more times last night. I
think I'm going to be playing it alot.

RE: Pete
In most stores here, CDs average about $14.99-$15.99......$12.99 is probably
they lowest you can get around here on most CDs (that are worth buying).....
Mass is MUCH cheaper....

| Yeah, I have the album and its GREAT...outdoes all the Idol stuff IMHO
(sorry Carla). The singer IS great....a great style, and although
there are some noteworthy influences heard in his voice, it fits great
with Stevens sonic-mindwarp guitar playing.

I've got the album playin' in the Walkman right now ... Steve
is quite impressive. He's not what I'd call a speed demon,
but he's got good stuff.
I skipped through the disc last night, but this time I'm
gonna listen all the way through. So far, I like.
Steve does vocals on one song ... "Woman of 1000 Years".
He's got a "scratchy" voice, from what I remember hearing
last night. After I hear it again I'll be able to formulate
a better opinion.
What's the name of the album, and the name of the group? The
CD just says "Steve Stevens Atomic Playboys".

| I just bought this one last night. I haven't heard it all the way
through, but I'm really happy I got it just from what I have heard.
I love his playing...
I was also going to ask about the group/album name. In the cassette
sleeve, it lists the band members as the "Atomic Playboys", but it
seems like the album is by Steve Stevens and is named Atomic Playboys.
Anyone know for sure?

| The band's name is Atomic Playboys. Steve said he put his name
there for now, for recognition's sake, to help the band out.
I love the album.
One pet peeve...
I'm getting sick of hearing "this guy's good, but he's not very
fast." Who cares how fast a guitarist plays????!?!!
/Motorbreath...thinks Pet the Hot Kitty sounds like Bulletboys!

602.25 | Why do some people want to make music a competition? | CSC32::G_HOUSE | Ghastly ghoulish apparitions | Mon Sep 11 1989 12:21 | 18 |
| Like Motorb sez, with Steve Stevens it doesn't matter whether he can
play at supersonic speed or not (maybe he can and doesn't record it),
he gets some incredible sounds and has a great melodic feel.
Don't get me wrong, I love fast playing too, but only if it's done with
some taste. I love to listen to Paul Gilbert or Yng, but someone like
Chris Impelliterri turns me off totally. If you got taste and speed,
that's great, but taste alone will do it for me.
I'd say that Steve has reasonably good speed, he's no slack. But he
really has a lot of taste in his playing. That's what I like about
him.
That aside, after listening to it more (I'll definately be listening to
this one a lot), I noticed that some parts on this new album remind me
a little of Steve Vai. Highly recommended.

RE: Motorbreath and Greg
I didn't say I didn't like him 'coz he's not fast ...
I said I DID like him, and he's not a speed demon.
Basically, I put that as an informational point ...
just to let people know the facts. Maybe it'll in-
fluence someone one way or the other in buying the
album ... maybe they don't want to hear Steve playing
like a speed demon, and therefore will buy the album
on that merit.

vocalist sound ALOT like the guy from Dead or Alive.

Steve Stevens has kicked vocalist Parry McCarthy out of the band. It
is suggested that the reason is because of the poor live reviews (in
particular of PM) the band has received.
