Yup, they do have a live album out ... I got "Live Inject-

"Psycho Cafe".
The live album's OK ... a few good songs out of the 6 that
are on it.

I picked up the cassette over the weekend and think it's
alright. The lead singer has a very "distinct" voice but
it gets a little monotonous after the first couple of
songs.
....and FWIW...the drummer's first name is Tigg!

| Tell me if they don't look like The Cult. Geez. Isn't anything
sacred? Listen to the beginning of the first song. Compare it to Sun
King on Sonic Temple. Listen to the last song at the beginning.
Although it's a really good guitar solo, it's a LOT George Lynch.
Anyway, I like it for the most part. Someone Like You is a really cool
song. It really kicks. The rest of the album is just a little better
than average, but at least it's a little different.

The Cult, huh? You should see the lead singer for The Front!!

Decent sounding band, though.

I can't believe this! I feel soooo stupid! These guys are
playing TONIGHT.....HERE! (Only drawback, they are playing
at Tremors? Go figure.......and it's only $4)...
Anyway, I just saw their video, and I would HARDLY call them
the "next Skid Row" as someone mentioned in here earlier, but
I was amazed at the fact that not only do they look and sound
quite a bit like The Cult, but they are GOOD! But, in their
own way, they have their own sound. (I know, that doesn't
make sense, but it does to me...)I'm a major
Cult fan.....and I will definately go out and buy this CD
(just as soon as I get the outrageous sum I'm SURE they are
charging for it here...)

Yo B.A.
I told you I've got the tape if you want to listen to it. I think
that the band really is quite good. I wasn't too impressed with the
Cult so I don't understand why a comparison is made between the two
bands. I would suggest that if you buy/borrow the tape/album/cd that
you put it on, turn it up, open your mind, and get ready to ROCK.

Listen to the tape that .17 is offering before you buy the album.
Someone Like You is a killer tune...but the rest of the album gets
boring (IMO) and the dudes voice gets REALLY obnoxious after about 6
songs or so...
If you're into the Cult like I am, then you'll understand. After
examining Skid Row and BT for similarities, I found them closer to SR
than anything else. Not the next SR, though.
Certainly not the next Cult, either.

I haven't heard much Skid Row......at least not enough for a
comparison...but they illicit the same response in me that
the Cult does. Very unique sound, very unique
voice....perhaps that is the comparison I'm looking for...not
that they sound the same at all....but the feel.
> Certainly not the next Cult, either.
A band would have to try d@mn hard to top the Cult, in my
book. They are just so unique..that is important to me in a
band.

If you check out the new Skid Row single, Piece of Me, and compare it
to a couple of BT songs, like Someone Like You, you'll see a lot of
similarities, in voice, style and even the guitar riffs and solos.
Not to rag on either band, though. They're both cool with me.
Let me know how the show was. I missed them up here. :-(

Is there a note in here where you could carry on this "debate" about
the pros and cons of HM music's image??
I for one don't think it's limited to HM. Rock 'n' Roll has a bad
image but only the people who dress like WWF wrestlers. Also, the
lyrics have alot to do with whether a particular band is portraying a
negative image. One thing ya have to keep in mind...... Hard rock
and/or heavy metal is the type of music that get's ya up and moving!!
Aggressive behavior kind of goes hand-in-hand with HM. However,
violence doesn't necessarily mean ya just listened to HM. Look at all
the crap ya see with some rap band and the violence they create. It
all has to do with the lyrics and the on stage performance of the band.
I've been listening to hard rock/HM since it started and it's the
lyrics and/or the "on stage" dress and performance of the bands that
make the crowds do what they do. I've been to see the Scorpions and I
thought they were great. Motivational music to say the least but
nothing negative or violent about the music. I was probably close to
the oldest one there.... the crowd was mostly 16-22 years old. Some of
outfits I saw were wild, but the behavior was fine. They were there to
have a good time and listen to tunes..... like most of us.............

This is true. Bands like Faith No More, Suicidal Tendancies, Janes
Addiction, RHCP are some of most original acts to come out latley. But
look at the ratio of good creative bands to crap conformist bands.

some of the creative stuff - my comments were just an
observation).

In the near past, there was a major slump in good new bands making
music. Late 60's and the 70's produced the largest number of great
bands. I'd have to say that the mid 80's we're real dead for new
talent. If the bands WE'RE out there, no one was promoting them. We
had the disco craz (GAG!), and now we have the rap craz (bigger GAG!)
and we have always had our steady stream of pop music (CHOKE)!!! Seemed
to me that Rock 'n' Roll/HM took a vacation for awhile. Sure, we had
our regulars pumping out great tunes but it's hard to keep you
interested when there's no one out there breaking new ground.
Thankfully, we have a resergence of new talent and ideas. I'm not all
that thrilled with some these bands playing satanic type music, but
that's an opinion and we all know about them....... However, some of
the bands that have come out in the last 3-4 years are getting my
attention and I'm very thankful to them for bringing back good,
wholesome, foot-stompin', @ss-kickin' Rock 'n' Roll/HM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, I was listening to "Over My Head" by King's X this morning......
EXCELLENT!!!!!!

| Friz loaned me his copy of "Dancin' On Coals" today and I can't seem to
make myself turn my Walkman off! This is a really good tape! (He may
not get it back as soon as he'd like)
I especially like the variety of guitar tones used and the rhythmic
patterns they used. A lot of funk influence in this, much more then
your basic rock.
Given that I'd never really listened to this band before, I went back
and read the earlier replies. I can't speak for the first album, but
if this one is similar I don't see how anyone could conceivably compare
them to The Cult (who I also like a lot), they sound totally different!
The Cult is much simpler rhythmically and much more of a basic rock
sound. There is much more guitar work (and more skillful guitar work)
on this tape then on any of the Cult's material I've heard. Nothing
like Skidrow either, a lot more funk influence.
Now, what it *does* remind me of is the Steve Stevens Atomic Playboys
album. I think it's a similar sound and the guitar and vocal work are
kind of close.
But of course a lot of you think my tastes in music are whacked anyway.
I'd love to watch you flee in disgust when I crank up Sonic Youth or
something like that... ;^)
