And why do some copies of albums include lyrics while
others don't?
A friend has "Point of Entry" which has the lyrics, but
my copy doesn't. That's strange.

| Yea, and do you find yourself with one ear up against your speaker
re-playing a certain verse over and over to try to figure out what
the song says. And then, after re-playing it, you still can't figure
it out!!!! Some bands leave the words out because it makes you listen
to the song more intensely.
I say we ban all albums that don't have lyrics!!!!(Ha ha ha)
jab. How_does_that_song_go???????

| > Shawn, in your case you have an early release of the album.

Actually, just the opposite usually happens! An album will have extensive
liner notes and/or lyric sheets. But when they are reissued as budget records
after a few years, that paraphenalia is usually left out.
One reason there are no lyrics on the inside of an album is because of
budgets. On a new band's album, many times there isn't enough money in the
budget to pay for an inner sleeve, so you get the generic white sleeve.
Other times, the artists just don't want you to have the lyrics. They may feel
that they are not important, and should not be taken outside their context
(which is the music).

I suppose all you guitarists would like the song sheets
included in the packaging as well.

Nope - its fun transcribing stuff. Gives you a sense of achievement
when you finaly get it down.
I spent two evening transcribing Gary Moore's "The Loner" and I
got it down to a T. I was wicked pleased when I did it.
