| >Partial discography:
> Girls to Chat and Boys to Bounce
> In the Mood for Something Rude
> Fool for the City
> Live
> Boogie Motel
> Tight Shoes
Some more titles:
Foghat
Energized
Rock and Roll Outlaws
Night Shift
Stone Blue
I was a HUGE Foghat fan back in the 70s, when they were at their peak. I knew
(and still know) every note from Foghat 'Live'. That album has some great
boogie-blues-rock music I have ever heard. In particular, I have always been a
big fan of Rod Price's slide playing. Another really good album from the
is 'Stone Blue' - the title track, "Sweet Home Chicago", "Chevorlet", and
"High On Your Love" are all standouts.
I saw them at the Channel about a year ago. Although it was enjoyable to hear
those old songs, they are just empty shells of them former selves - the
original line-up was SO much better!

What was the name of the tune that went like "Hi Ho Hi Ho Silver?
Had some killer guitar work in it!
I've seen them about 6 times. All with the original line-up!
My favorite albums are Energized, Live and Fool for the City!
As you can tell, it's mostly their early stuff.
The only member of the band that I can remember s Lonesome Dave
Prevett(sp?).
And then I know the Drummer used to date Cher! Along with every
other rock star!

Here across the pond, getting FOGHAT albums is like gold dust!
I've been looking for a copy of LIVE for about 5 years now
since hearing a tape an aquaintance once had - my fave track on
that was "I just wanna make love to you (?)" I've managed to get
some of the earlyish albums, - Nightshift, Energised,Fool for the City,
Stone Blue - apparently according to one of my 'extensive' rock'n'roll
reference books the albums after Boogie Motel are a bit weak.
I gather Bearsville have sold re-release rights to Rhino records
- but have yet to see LIVE re-released. Over here have to rely on
US imports - strange since the band is English - and the big record
stores in London town seem to gone all CD. (apart from Tower)
BTW, Cat and all ye rock historians out there might be interested
in a tome I've got called "A New Rock Record" which lists all rock
albums and EPs the author knows about, all the lineups and catalog(ue)
numbers and issue dates. Its as thick as "Music Master" but just does
'Rock'. Ideal for finding out how many bands Cozy Powell has been
in and the like. The author does an update every couple of years.
Also check out the Pete Frame Rock family tree book (count the Rainbow
lineups)
ps. also after the Black Oak Arkansas live opus but no joy....

It seems to me that you have all of their really strong albums (of course,
with the excpetion of 'Live'). Some of the others are OK, but none of them are
outstanding in any way.
Rhino has released all those old albums on CD, so you may be able to find it
as an import CD. (I have 'Live' on CD, and love it! Next to pick up is "Stone
Blue", when I get some spare bucks...)
If you really don't have any luck with finding it, send me mail and I can mail
you a tape of it....

Sounds like a pretty good book! I'll have to search my local bookstore to see
if they can get it for me. (I just finished reading the Billboard Book of
Number One Hits - that was real entertaining!) Thanx for the tip!

Thanx for the info, Cat - but I haven't got a CD player!
Just spend 500 pounds ($800) on a record deck which vastly improves
the quality I get from the ole vinyl. On a good pressing I reckon
the sound is pretty close if not more natural to CD.
Anyway, think I'll have to get one for these CD reissues that
are coming out. I've spotted some Jon Lord titles re-released
and being a great admirer of the old boy....
Looks like I've put off getting that D50 another 5 years...

Thanks for the info!
BTW - Rhino also released a 'Best of Foghat' CD. It has 16 songs on it, and
seemed to cover most of the stuff you'd want. I dunno whether they used the
liver version on some songs or not though.....

About the current line-up.......
All I know is the new singer. His name is
Phil Newdelman. The last time I saw him, he was
in his last semester at Berklee and bartending
at Bertucci's in Cambridge, and then he calls
to tell everyone that he has just joined Foghat.
Lucky guy. He used to sing for a Boston band
called In The Pink.

Of course, few people know that the *original* In The Pink lineup
had Pat Badger (from Extreme) on bass and Ira Horwitz on lead vox.
In fact, it was Pat who custom painted Rob's (from ITP) Strat
Megenta (Pat used to work at Maurdian guitars - not sure if he still
does or not?!?).

566.17 | | DPE::STARR | SRV......I can't believe you're gone.... | Tue Apr 02 1991 00:41 | 14 |
| Hold onto your hats - there are TWO versions of Foghat touring the country
right now. The one Buck mentioned has been kicking around all through the
80's, and weren't that great (although for part of that time, original
singer Lonesome Dave Peveret was with them, and that was ok).
But now there is *another* Foghat touring, and this features both Lonesome
Dave and original lead guitarist Rod Price (who is one of my all-time favorite
slide players!). I haven't seen the new lineup, but I'm there when they come
back to New England!
Check it out to see which version is playing - if its the reunion one, you
should definitely check it out!!!

566.18 | A few years back, pass the glass to Rod... | MSHRMS::FOSTER | Fantastically Original | Tue Mar 17 1992 11:14 | 12 |
| Rod "The Bottle" Price is my favorite slide guitarist (no disrespect
intended towards Joe!) I saw them live at Fitchburg's Wallace Civic
Center, what a great show but didn't care for the place much.
I saw them again with Blue Oyster and The Outlaws in Worcester, they
had a replacement guitarist then but I forget who he was (no Rod,
that's for sure). Outlaws were the headliners, but our section must
have tee'd them off cuz we were screaming for Foghat for the encore!
Love Dave's lyrics, wicked p*ssa ! My favorite band !!
