563.0. "CJSS" by PFLOYD::ROTHBERG (Get the priest as well...) Tue Jun 20 1989 15:19

CJSS is another RacerX type band. They consist
                of

                David T. Chastain on guitar
Russell Jinkens on lead and backing vocals
Mike Skimmerhorn on bass, backing and lead vocals
                Les Sharp on Drums

Note where the name CJSS comes from now. They
have a few albums, I believe 3 on Leviathan
Records and Chastain also has a couple of solo
albums. If you like RacerX, you'll probably like
                these guys.

Ah, I've heard a little about Chastain. He's supposed to have done
studio work on quite a few other peoples stuff.

I saw part of an interview with him somewhere and he seemed sort of
odd. Kind of a quirky personality, I guess. He claimed that he had
thousands of songs he'd written just laying around and that he wrote a
song every time he picked up his guitar. Seemed like kind of an
    arrogant statement.

How *is* he as a songwriter?

I haven't heard his solo stuff, it's supposed to
be a lot better than CJSS, but again, the CJSS
songs are similar to RacerX, but not even that
good. Kind of crunchy sounding. It might be
worth picking up one tape as they all pretty much
sound the same. I recommend Praise the Loud.
