| Hey! I heard that song "Walking Shoes" the other night and loved it!
For the life of me I couldn't place the voice....no wonder....I have
never heard of Tora Tora before.
Have you heard anything else by them?

Yeah, its pretty cool, isn't it? I heard it again on WHEB-FM (100.3,
Portsmouth, NH), and liked it even more the second time through! BTW - the
guitar solo sounds like its straight off a Pat Travers album! Really!
> Have you heard anything else by them?
Not yet, although I may get ambitious enough to by the album or CD, if the
price is right. I did find out, however, that the band is from Nashville, of
all places! Wow - HM right in the heart of country-music-land! I bet that woke
a few of them up! 8^)

Yea....I heard the same thing. The song even starts off
sounding like a C&W song, but turns out to be REALLY good!!!
I was impressed!
Does anyone else think the singer sounds a little like early
Vince Neil??

I've now heard "Walking Shoes" on WHEB, WGIR, and WHJY. Also, Tora Tora were
the guest DJs on the Headbangers Ball this past weekend, but I didn't get to
see it - how was it?
Has anyone heard the album yet?

Cat -
They weren't the guest DJ's, but they did come on the show
and talk for awhile with Adam Curry.
Basically they talked about how they got their name, some of
the gigs they'll be playing and the general 20 questions type
interview.
I LOVE the song, too and I'm really thinking about getting the
album, too.

I saw it this weekend also. I thought it was O.K. The thing that
I liked about it was that it was different. It had a real bluesy
sound, something you don't hear very much. I'll rate the record
and 80!

Way up here in the vast expanse of territory known as Maine,
the days are long and life is slow. Thus explaining why I heard
"Walkin Shoes" by Tora Tora a month after everyone else. But I
still will give my .02$ worth. I think the song rocked! At first
I thought it was the new Crue. But the lead singers voice lacks
something that Vince Neils' has. Anyways, the song was good. Does
anyone have the album yet? If so can you give it a review?
Thanks in advance.

RE: At first I thought it was the new Crue.
Y'know?! I've heard the same thing from a few different
folks who also thought the lead singer sounded like the
new Crue.
I don't know if that's good or bad, but I'm pickin' up
the tape this week!

555.15 | familiar riff | HAZEL::STARR | Kids flash guitars just like switchblades | Mon Aug 07 1989 17:07 | 8 |
| It took me a while to pinpoint it, but I finally figured it out why "Walking
Shoes" sounds so familiar - it is real close to a Fastway song called
"Non-Stop Lover" from 'All Fired Up'! Well, maybe not *real* close, but the
riff is sorta that same...
But I still love it!

on Saturday, November 4th for a triple bill with:

Should be a pretty good show. I havn't seen D.T. or T.T., but I
have seen L.A. Guns at the Channel and they rock!

Tora Tora's album is great!
I like it a lot, it is kinda bluesy, but not in the same vein as
LA Guns, Junkyard I don't think. Someone mentioned "more intelligent"
and although that's kinda a tough way to describe a band's sound,
I'd have to agree, compared to the aforementioned bands.
This band would be GREAT to see in a small club!! Definitely
bluesy kick-ass beer sucking music!!

Typical I'm afraid of lots of soundpeople. They get it so it sounds right
to their burned out ears. High frequencies go first...
I usually need some earplugs to "normalize" the high end emphasis... I hate
wearing them though. But, if I still want to hear by the time I hit 50...
