| 412.1 | It was a good year | PARITY::STACIE | Cult of Personality | Wed Jan 04 1989 07:55 | 14 |
| | There were a lot of good tunes being kicked around out there. I'm
    really proud of MTV for finally acknowledging what was staring them
    in the face for so long. They do tend to play the lighter side
    of "metal," if you even want to call it that (but that's another
    topic altogether), but they're trying. The Headbanger's Ball is
    pretty good. I guess they had no choice. No matter what they did,
    the Dial MTV countdown was consistently hard rock.

    It was the year of Guns & Roses, for sure. Personally, I liked
    Kix, Living Colour, Faster Pussycat & Jetboy. The best of the
    best was Sam Kinison's "Wild Thing." Talk about scenery!!! (And
    I don't mean Jessica Hahn.

    	Now Stacie...I know who YOU were looking at in the
    	Wild Thing video!!  SShhh....our secret  (^;

    	I must say I wasn't totally disappointed with 1988.
    	Musically, like Cat says, metal exploded...whether
    	it was glam or the "real" thing, I loved every minute
    	of it!!!

| 412.4 | It was always heavy to me | RAVEN1::ROSENBERG | won't get fooled again | Wed Jan 04 1989 15:41 | 8 |
| | Yea 1988 was the year that I find out that Heavy Metal was supposed
    to be something new. I always thought that I was always listening
    to HM when I heard Boston,Black Sabbath,Blue Oyster Cult,Uriha Heep
    and any number of other hard rock'en bands. Sh*t we were playing
    in air bands and sweating our ass off in Detroit long before the
    lip sinc shows were out. IMO heavy Metal has been around for years.

    Oh, great.

    As if Metallica at 5:30am isn't enough.
    (I have a 16 year old headbanging brother who showers to the likes
    of Megadeth, Metallica & Anthrax)

    This morning I awoke to "It's a madhouse, or so they claim..."
    Or whatever it is. God help us.
