410.0. "Leatherwolf" by 26959::ROTHBERG (Hey! Pass me a yodel.) Mon Jan 02 1989 11:08

Well, had to add a note about another band that
I've been into, but just started listening to all
the time; Leatherwolf. Anybody else listen to
this band? It's like crossing TNT with White
Lion and throwing in Yngwie on the guitar.
                Incredible band.

                - Rob who's waiting to get his car back with the
stereo put in by someone else . . .

I've heard a couple Leatherwolf tunes on the metal show on WBCN.

They were great, and I've been close to buying a Leatherwolf album
many times, but they're never high enough on the album priority
list since I haven't heard enough of them yet.

What I heard impressed me though.

I've got the (self titled) album. Its okay, but nothing to write
home about - all blonde locks and leather.

Do they really need three guitarists though ?? It ain't that hard
    to play !!

Leatherwolf are supporting Vow Wow tomorrow night so I can probably
get a brief run down on their live set for you by WED. (If the brain
    still functions)

I'll write something up on WED as I said. Just don't blame me for
    the Spelling mistookes. It's a 02:00 finish.

As promised here is a brief note about Leatherwolf/Vow Wow livw.

The mix was very good, the only problem being the Vocals were just a bit
too boomy. I know this Venue (Ritzy's Night Club) very well and felt that
the staging was set up too close to the centre of the club, therefor the
P.A. was sort of killing it'self (if you know what I mean).

Leatherwolf: The drummer was phenomanal (sp?). From the start I could see
he was using a single "Kick" drum, but it sounded too much like he was
using "double" pedals. *WRONG*. It was all done one footed. 8-)

The Second # in the set was "BAD MOON RISING", the best cover of this song
I have ever heard. (Better than the original!)

There was comments somewhere about why the band used "3" guitars. Live they
only use three guitars when the 2 leads are harmonising/riff swapping. The
Bass guitarist was boring to look at but he sounded good. The vocalist was
"OK but nothin special".

Due to the limited space available at this venue, I don't think that
Leatherwolf got across their Stage Show. Watch out for these guyz, and try
to catch them as a headline act.

Vow Wow: What can I say except ..... Brilliant.

As a combination Leatherwolf/Vow Wow rivalled the Bonefire/Judas Priest
gig earlier this year. It was close to being the best gig I have caught
in the Aberdeen Area. Not quite as good as Whitesnake on the "Slide It In"
tour, but so very close......

Bonzo. (if there are any mistakes int the typeing. I don't care. There
is a worrying bit too this. The hangover ain't started yet......)

I aquired a copy of the new Leatherwolf "Street Ready" lp and let
me tell you, it is f!@$%^ amazing. Its blows away many of the
other pussy bands about. I can't sing its praises enough.

    Exellent.

    BUY IT !!

Why is .8 set hidden ?

I got a loan of the second (I think. the cover shows the bands
shaddows) album. I have only listned to side 1 and that was at
respectable volume. I'll listen to the whole thing to night and
    put something in here tomorrow.

As promised here is my honest opinion of the Street Ready album.

There was only one track that stood out as far as I am concerned
and that was called "Hideaway". Like Bon Jovi with ballz, or, Yngwie
    without the boring sweeps.

Overall the album was O.K. but nothin compared to the live performance
with Vow Wow, that I saw last month.

Anyone know why note #.8 has been set hidden..... I know that TTT
wrote the reply but why was it set hidden.... rude?....crude?...
    or simply a mistake?

I think he used a "naughty-bit". Not as good as
the first album, huh? I thought the first was
the yones! The second even come close?

To be honest Rob ,,, I haven't heard the first album...

I recorded Street Ready last night and listened to it this morning
on the way to a customer site.... (it did put me in the mood to
go to the pub), I think I may have made a mess of the recording.
See my new entry into DYJFIW for the details.

On Rob's recommendation, I purchased `Street Ready' last
weekend, and although I haven't given it ALOT of play, I'm
impressed, although they don't exactly remind me of
Queensrche (maybe a little more TNTish, but not exactly like
        them either).

I'll post a better review after I play this tape a little
more, but from what I've heard so far, it's good !
