376.0. "Most missed rocker? [Death note]" by SUBURB::DALLISON (I'd buy that for a dollar!) Thu Dec 01 1988 11:08

I think we should have a discussion on the most missed deceased
    rockers who we all miss.

    The obvious ones are :

    Randy Rhoads
    John Bonham
    Phil Lynott

I'm sure there are lots more.

Who do *you* miss the most ??

Jimi Hendrix did OD, but that isn't what killed him, he was strapped
down to a stetcher, he threw up, then choked to death on it because
he was strapped down. The EMT's were careless, and it could have
been avoided. I believe it happened in Britian or somewhere else
    in Europe.

Hendrix: He died in Germany. Apparently German 'ludes are made
to be broken into quarters before being taken. Jimi did 4 times
the amount of the drug he thought he was taking. He passed out,
vomited, and choked to death. There were medical people around
but they didn't clear his throat.

    re:376.23

Jimi Hendrix's cause of death was suffocation due to babituate
intoxication. This means that he chocked on his own vomit. Jimi
was at his girlfriend's apartment at the time of his death. ( can't
remember her name). Early in the evening of his demise he had taken
some sleeping pills,he then proceeded to drink quite a bit of wine,
followed again by Jimi taking more sleeping pills. Jimi and his
girlfriend then went to sleep. His girfriend awoke early and went
to the store for a paper or something. When she retured she noticed
that Jimi was in a strange position and that there was a strong
smell of vomit in the air. She tried to wake Jimi but could'nt
so she called Eric Burden(then of War before the Animals) who alerted
her to call an ambulence. The rest is history...

I have heard lately that Hendrix may have commited suicide.
I don't remember the whole story around his death, I have the
newspaper report somewhere. I kept it along with the story of
Jim Morrison's death. Also I seem to have heard that Hendrix
was at Eric Burdon's place at time of death. Does anyone know
for sure? I'll see if I can find the article.

It was Friday, March 19th, 1982 at about 6am in the morning.

The road crew and band were en route from a concert the following night
in alabama to one in FLA. They made a stop over at an airfield for
refuel or something. The bus driver of one of the rigs had a plane
there, so he invited Randy and the bands hairdresser for a ride. he
was being a jerk and was buzzing the tour bus with the band inside (to
wake them up?). Anyway, on one pass the plane's wing clipped the bus
and sent the plane spinning head over heels into a nearby house. I
remember it was one of the saddest days of my life. He died exactly
two weeks before his sceduled show at the Boston Garnen (on Friday,
    April 2nd, 1982).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a sad day for Guitarists the world out.

Allen Collins of Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Rossington-Collins Band
passed away yesterday in Florida. He was 36.

    Details were unavailable.

All I know is that Skynyrd is responsible for an aweful lot of personal
happiness for me, and I learned a lot about the guitar by listening
to Collins' work. I'm positive I'm not the only one.

    He'll be missed for sure.

Not the most missed, but Nichollis "Razzle" Dingley. The drummer
from Hanio Rocks, who died in a car crash with Vince Neil. I think
Hanio were right on the verge of makin' it big. The disbanded, after
the death, and haven't really done anything since. (Micheal Monroe
    solo and Cherry Bombs)

    	But atleast it wasn't Vince...

Hey come on, Vince and Razzle were both drunk, its not like
Razzle was sobber and Vince killed him. It was manslaughter (accidental
death) Vince did 30 days in jail (18 actually with good behaviour)
did probation and community service and paid out over 3M dollars
(and not on defense like OJ) I'm not sayin that is a tough sentence
or anything, but I mean it was accidental. Its very similar to that
kid who was drunk with his friends and his two friends died in an
accident. The prosecutor want to give the kid the max, but even
the parents of the two dead boys didn't want the kid to go to jail.

out making money to pay to the victoms.. You and I would have done
much longer time, but then again, you and I wouldn't have had to
    shell out 3 million.

Not to come to his defense, he did a bad thing, he got hammered and
in effect, accidentally killed his friend..
