176.1 | Borderline Heavy_Metal, but GOOD stuff!! | ANT::SLABOUNTY | A Momentary Lapse of Reason | Wed Aug 03 1988 09:32 | 14 |
| I love 'Sign in Please' - alot of kick-butt songs on there!!
My Girlfriend's Boyfriend Isn't Me
Cloud 10
Turn up the Radio
Deep End (my favorite from this album)
And my mind goes blank as to the rest.
I haven't heard the others (except for 'Blondes in Black Cars'
and 'Hammerhead(? - instrumental)' and "That's the Stuff" off
of "That's the Stuff". Nor have I heard them live.

I rememebr the first time I heard autograph it was turn up the radio.
Stacie's current SO and I were quick to critique! Basically, your
average HM band with a hot tapping guitar player who played probably
ALL his hottest licks in the solo to the hit.
Assumptions were basically confirmed when I was dragged to see them
at the Channel. i was bored with Mr 8 finger tapper after 10 minutes!
Oh yeah, the band...they didn't do much for me either.

The thing I LOVE about Autograph is that they're not out there
to impress anyone. It's evident that they're not the best
bunch of musicians around.
They just seem like they wanna have a good time ... I mean,
they don't write songs about violence or devil worshipping
or politics ... they take situations and write songs about
them ...
My Girlfriend's Boyfriend Isn't Me

| I think that band would be more popular if they would ditch the
goober on lead vocals ... he's not pleasant to look at, and his
range is next to zilch ! The guitar work is OK, provided you're
into hammer-on's and nothing else. I think Eddie already covered
that ...

They used to be called "Wolfgang", well, at least a couple of
them did. I think it's the lead singer and bass player.

I read recently that two of the band members left (one of them was the
keyboard player), but the other three were to carry on and they already had
replacements lined up.
Discography : Sign In Please,
That's The Stuff.
Lound And Clear.
The first album is great, 'That's The Stuff' is good but not as good as
'Sign In Please' and the third which incidentally got brilliant reviews in all
the press is the best of the bunch, 'Loud And Clear'. IMHO the last album was
ahead of it's time slightly and would not have been out of place being released
now. It's is real powerfull and well worth the cash.
The band are supposedly working on a new album now, but not read anything
since the members leaving was announced 2-3 months back.
Let's hope the next release breaks 'em in to the big time, they have been
playing the club circuit long enough from what i've read.

I can remember seeing these guys at the Mohawk Club in Shirley back
in '84. Got to meet Kenny Richards and even went out to Denny's
at 3 in the morning with him and a few friends. Great guy and a
very good band that deserves better. If I'm not mistaken, Kenny
is one of the members who has left, but is already in another band.
I can't remember what the new one is though.

I got "That's the Stuff" for $1.99/buy one get one free,
and I listened to it once so far.
It doesn't have the "kick" that "Sign In, Please" has.
I'll give it a chance, though.

The album isn't bad, but "Sign In, Please" is definately better.

176.16 | ex | FUTURE::DSMITH | | Wed Jun 13 1990 14:02 | 7 |
| Great band - serious potential...last I heard of them was in Southern
Cal getting lost amongst the rubble of *millions* of bands...since
the last album was late '87 they are definately due...industry words
on the street says that they're trying again but the label's didn't
give the promotion enough kick...the other rumor is that if they
can't get a deal, they'll be going further in their separate ways
(some members have contributed on other albums)...

Actually, "Turn Up the Radio" is somewhat lame when compared
to most of the "Sign In, Please" album.
"Night Teen and Non-Stop" "Deep End"
"My Girlfriend's Boyfriend Isn't Me" [and a couple others]
If you like the vocals on TUtR, then you'll probably like
the album alot.
Trust me.

Yup, the album came out in '84. I believe they toured
with Van Halen that year. The songs on 'Sign in Please"
were: (if I can remember 8^)
Send her to me
Turn up the radio
Night teen and nonstop
Cloud 10
Deep End
My girlfriend's boyfriend isn't me
Thrill of love
Friday
In the night
All i'm gonna take
IMHO: Lame vocals, lame bass, lame keyboards, but for some
reason, I really like their songs! Go figure.
It's about time Steve Lynch looks for another band, this guy
is good!
