yeah, they were kinda cool...Thought about buyin the lp.
They sounded a lot like Kiss to me, with some Cinderella thrown
in.
What's this with Metal bands going back to playing Les Pauls??
Glad to see the modified strat has died away, I was getting sick
of them.
The les paul, and less-is-more guitar solo reminded me of Slash
from GnR's, who knows, he may of started a new craze and not even
known it??

Yeah, in my mind the Les Paul will always be THE rock'n'roll guitar!

Well, I went home and re-listened to this band. Whoever
it was that said they sounded like old KISS and Cinderella
were sort of right.
I think two reasons why these particular bands were picked
is because one of the guitarist's looks somewhat like Eric
Brittingham of Cinderella; second reason? The lead singer
sort of looks like Paul Stanley of KISS.
They're not bad....they're not terrific, but they're not
bad. Then again, I didn't think G&R were so hot when they

[RE 1]
The Les Paul is such a versatile guitar for heavy metal
that I hope it can re-emerge in HM, I mean everywhere now its just
Kramer Kramer Kramer.....which is fine to a point, except I don't
like the last 2 years' models *at all*!!!! And now Hondo makes Jackson
guitars (yes Hondo the untunable guitar co.). Rhoads and Page were
once there to carry the torch for the LP, but now one's gone and
the other's too stoned to remember what day it is. And it's such
an ***awesome tapping guitar***. Ask Jeff Watson, Steve Lynch or
if you could, RR. Hail the Les Paul.

And EVH used a LP on my favorite Van Halen song - "In Simple Rhyme" off
of 'Women and Children First". As far as I know, that is the only time
he has used a LP (he also used a LP live on that song, but only that
song).
And don't forget the classic tone that Beck got on "'Cause We Ended As
Lovers". I can't imagine any other guitar sounding like that.
BTW, I only recently found this out, but Page used Telecasters in the
studio more than enaything else. He used it for the whole first album,
most of the second, and intermitently after that, including for the
solo on "Stairway to Heaven". It's funny, because he was the one that
turned me into a fan of Les Pauls, but he didn't even use them as much
as I thought he did.

Opinion #1 B-Fox is a cheap cinderella copy, not that cinderella
is anything to rave about either. At first glance I thought b-fox
was Cinderella with a diff guitarist.
Les Pauls are great!!! I love the sound of em!!
Angus Young from AC/DC tried one for a show and since he's always
moving the constant slamming of his leg into the git combined with
the weight of the LP gave him a limp that will be around forever.

| The lead guitarist of Britny Foxx, and I believe the drummer too, were
original members of Cinderella with Tom Keifer and Eric Brittingham.
The night before Cinderella signed with Polygram records, tom and
Eric cut these guys loose.
However, there are no hard feelings between the two bands, at least
none that I know of. In the credits for Foxx's album, they thank
Cinderella with extra special thanks to Tom and Emily Keifer.
The album is incredible. "In America", "Girlschool", "Long Way to
Love", and a cover of Slade's "Gudbuy t' Jane" are all high points.
I can't wait to see them in concert and compare them with Tom and

I know looks (or hair) shouldn't count, but now that MTV has
all but put radio under, looks are just as important (if not more
important) than the music.
Bands these days don't seem to care about radio, airplay, etc...
They know that all they need is to get in the Top 20 countdown or
Dial MTV, and they're instant gold. Take Winger (or Britny Fox
for that matter, just so I don't get chastised) do you really
think they'd have made it on radio alone? I mean they're good,
but would they really be attracting all the attention they have
if they didn't have Kip_baby flashing those teeth and finding unique
(or not-so-unique) ways to wear his gym socks??

144.61 | A New Release | CYNO::FERRIS | How many more times?... | Mon Dec 09 1991 09:13 | 10 |

I picked up the new one from these guys this weekend. It's called
"Bite Down Hard". I like it alot, nothing really special about this
band, but they have a great sound. Its typical of the last two releases
no real surprises, just great rock and roll. If you like alot of power
chord crunch with a truly guitar driven band you'll like it. Alot of
catchy tunes. I thought it was intresting that Zack Wyld and Rikki
Rocket appear on this new one.

Re. 62
I don't know who does the singing in this band. Its the same guy who
did all the other vocal work on previous releases. However, I don't
know if it is the mix or what, but he sounds much different. Kinda
sounds like Paul Stanley of Kiss.
GTI - I agree!! they did a great cover of Hair of the Dog. I like it
better than the original.

OK, after looking on the CD, Tommy Paris is the new guy in the band.
Michael Kelly Smith is the other guitarist. I looked on the previous
release and he was on that one. Has anyone heard of this guy?

This is a bit late but I thought I would say a little about the Britny
Fox show last week at Rack & Roll. First of all that is a small place
to hold a show with a band with so much equipment. Anyway.
The opening band was a group from Denver called Uncle Rip. Now, most
of the time I have alot of respect for all musicians (being one myself)
and try not to really flame a band or a player but these guys were just
plain lousy. I have no idea where they got these guys from, but most of
the local talent here in C Spgs could have put this group to shame and
sent them back to their practice place very embarrased. I's sorry but I
have nothing good to say about these guys, as a matter of fact they
would have to pay me to show up at another one of their shows.
Seriously though, other than really band stage presence, a play list
that had horrible songs on it, a general lack of talent by all espec-
ially the singer, they weren't too bad.
Britny Fox came on and really rocked the place. Very loud! very power-
full sound, of course I can't imagine why, they only had to boot half
the people out to make room for Marshall stacks. (just kidding, kinda).
And let me tell you, these guys have some serious hair. I think all the
women there were jealous. 8^).
Like I have said before in this topic, these guys aren't the greatest
musicians but they play with alot of energy and have great presence on
stage. I was very impressed with how great they sounded live, all of
them did vocals and sounded much like the studio cuts except for the
raw edges of it being live. They played most of the material from their
3 albums and got a great response from the crowd there, which was SRO
by thw way. It was great seeing this band in a small club, and the band
seemed to be really enjoying playing to a smaller crowd, talking with
the people and making some jokes.
For all the musicians that might be intrested in equipment, both of
the guitarists were playing BC Rich guitars through Marshall amps, the
bass player was using Ampeg Amps and I'm not sure of the bass, Gibson
I think. Drummer was playing Tama drums. I had a good time it was worth
going out to see them.

Can you say 'samples'? We opened for these guys a few months back,
95% of the backups were sampled.. Thats why all the vocals sounded
great! ;')
But hey, they did sound great and put on a good show...

But the real question is how did their tone compare to Coop's?

The vocals were sampled huh? well they did sound very clear. Its funny
because I was saying someone there that they almost sounded too good if
you know what I mean.
