            That's what I thought, but alot of people refer to 'You
            Give Love a Bad Name' as 'Shot Through the Heart' because
            those are the first words.
    
            Most of the Bon Jovi fans started liking him after 'Slippery'
            because that's the pseudo-metal stuff that people like.
            But I figured you knew the difference.

    topic to ask this.  Has anyone heard if Cinderella is working on

    	Well, according to WAAF (radio station in Boston, MA)
    	Bon Jovi's new album is due to hit the stores on Sept.
    	15.  The name of the album is New Jersey.
    
    	The single, Bad Medicine, is due to hit the airwaves
    	on September 7...keep your ears open!
    
    	According to AAF sources, the album is supposed to be
    	less glitzy and more "heavy" as Rick Mckenzie put it.

Well, this is true for a local band, but this isn't what Buck was talking
about. Whenever a new album bya major artist is being released, the label
usually throws a record release party. Usually these are just excuses
for people to eat and drink for free. All that happens is that local radio
and retil people, along with the record company staff, are invited to
a place (usually a club) for a couple hours, where you get free food and
drinks and listen to the new album about 10 times over.

They are actually pretty boring, usually. Occasionally, the artist will
appear, which makes it much more interesting. For example, Elton John
was at the release party for his new LP at Spit, and he played a few
old hits for about half-an-hour. And at the redord release party I went
to for Crowded House, the band played for a little while. But these
occurences are rare.

I sincerely doubt that the band was at this record release party, although
they could have been.

BTW, I've met Jon before (actually, a couple times). He's a pretty nice
guy - not too much of an ego or anything. Also, last I knew, he was
very dedicated to his girlfriend (sorry gals!).

    I caught part of an interview with JBJ on MTV Music News when I
    was putting on my clothes one morning earlier this week.
    
    He said that he was definately single and probably would be for
    some time (ie, no prospects).  He said "there's probably no girls
    out there that would want me for more than about 10 minutes".  (this

    Well Kim it is like this....
    
      This a.m. I'm getting ready for work rockin to my newly purchased
    Cinderalla tape.  I said to myself "self you should probably be
    listening to the radio you are probably missing Bad Medicine." 
    So, listening to myself as I usually do (no one else does 8^)) I
    shut off Cinderella (as difficult as it was, I love that tape) and
    sure enough I just catch the end of Bad Medicine.  I heard enough
    to know I like it.  I can't wait til the 19th til the album hits
    the stores,  I"ll be there and then they go on tour, I'll be there.
    Life just doesn't get any better!

      Saturday night everyone's favority channel MTV will be showing
    the making of the Bad Medicine video and then world premering the
    video.  This all happens at 10 o'clock.   All I have to say is where
    ever I am sat nite better have MTV or I'm going home!

I heard that the tour is going to start in Japan and then Europe (or was
it the other way around), and then hit the States next spring - just in
time for those lucrative outdoor stadium shows!

    I have to admit, I watched part of that BJ special on MTV when I
    got home last night.  I'm not hating 'Bad Medicine', the song, as
    much now that I've heard it a couple of times.  I still think it's
    pulp, but can actually manage to sit through the entire song now

    released over here (England) - monday 19th actually. Ive just bought
    it on CD but havent got my CD player with me at the moment, so Ill have
    to wait to hear it. Ive also got my tix for Wembley Arena on the
    9th of December, looking forward to it as it is my third time, and
    tour. - 7800� F at Newcastle Mayfair and SWW at the Hammy Odeon.

    I too have got the new album, and I thinks its good.  I like "Love
    For Sale", "Bad Medicine" and "Blood on Blood" the most, in that
    order.
    
    Love for sale's got some good Sambora guitar work on it.

    I think it's got a Bruce Springsteen sound. Don't get me wrong I
    still don't care for BS, but it sounded alright with my hunni-bunns
    singing it. 
    
    I especially like the song 'Born to be my baby'...yeh,yeh,yeh..
    
    There are alot of ballads on there, that's fine, I LOVE ballads,
    especially sung by my one and only....................

    by the boy-gawd from NJ, I do have three of his vinyls.  They are
    all about the same, musically.  It'd be a great opportunity if you
    wanted to have a Bon Jovi dedication_type band... learn one tune,

    I have not heard the entire new (jersey) album, but what I've heard has
    been very underwhelming.  As I said in the Over-played note, I'm
    starting to get sick of Bad Medicine already.  One of the songs I heard
    also reminded me of Bruce Sp.... (can't say it...). 
    
    I heard something that might be a clue as to some of the reason it
    lacks originality.  JBJ said they (the band, producers, etc) didn't
    pick the material to go on the new album, they did a sort of 'market
    survey' by getting 50 kids together and played a bunch of songs for
    them.  Then they had the kids rate the songs and they used the results
    to determine what went on the album. (I heard him say this in an
    excerpt of an interview on the radio, his own words...) 
    
    No wonder it's *&^^%ing repetative!  If you have kids listen to 5 songs
    once through, they are gonna pick the one that sounds most familiar as
    the best because it's the most accessable.  Perhaps it's a way to sell
    more records, but it's crap as far as I'm concerned, because your not
    making music, but making money.  I guess that's the name of the game.

    OKAY, OKAY, OKAY, enough ranking on Jon and Co., [and BS], I'll
    admit they *do* sound a bit repetitive, but if they changed, what
    would you be saying then, huh? "Oh, I like them the way they were".
    
    Take VH for example, when Sammy first started singing for them everyone
    complained at the fact that it "wasn't the same old Van Halen",
    nobody likes change.
    
    I think I'm hearing alot of jealousy over this band, because, though
    *I* like them for the music the write and play, most people just
    sit and listen to "how familiar it sounds to what past albums" [gimme
    large break!!!!], or love Jon, Rich or their hair.
    
    Do me a favor, don't listen to the single. Every band has ONE
    over-played single, read the lyrics to some of his songs, I think
    one of them is written for his brother, and a couple are love songs.
    
    Incidently, just for the record [pardon pun, couldn't be helped],
    his last three albums sound NOTHING alike. The first one is a beginner
    album the next was the hit album, then the GOLD, this one will go
    too, you watch. 
    
    I agree it has a Bruce Sp. sound, but it's not, it's BonJovi, and
    no matter how you slice it......

    I haven't heard the new BJ..but based on past albums theyre good
    at what they do.  They pose for pics in all the teeny-boper mags.
    they make all the right "Heavy Metal" faces.  They wear all the
    right makeup.  They have all the right moves in they're vids but
    the one thing theyre not good at is quality writing.  In that category
    I think they're severly lacking.
    
    	Who knows maybe the new album is better but I doubt it.

    I saw the video to Bad Medicine yesterday, the video was made with
    a lot of fun by the looks of things, loads of lovely women around
    the stage filming the guys as they perform. The song is good as
    well, but it is rather distracting seeing althoughs ladies in their
    tight little skirts..........sigh.

    I finally got the New Jersey tape.  I haven't listened to it all
    the why thru yet.  But, from what I heard I like.  I don't think
    it sounds much like Bon Jovi.    My favorite song so far is 
    "living in sin"  I think is the name.  Bad Medicine doesn't do much
    for me anymore I've heard it one time tooooooooo  many.

    Well, I think he's pretty sincere...In some interview I was reading
    (in one of those rag mags, he was asked why he seemed to love being
    a rock star.  His response, was something like:
    
    "I'm in this business for the women!"

BTW, two things I had forgotten to mention earlier. I had said that Jon
had a girlfriend he was very devoted to, and every one else replied back
that he was single. But I just remembered that not only did he have a
girlfriend, but you can check her out on the inside cover of 'Slippery
When Wet'. I'll have to go home tonight and see which girl it is, but it
is one of the ones washing the car.

Also, I remember an interview with with Jon when 'SWW' came out. He
listed his favorite singer/performer as Bruce Springsteen, and said he
aspired to be as good as Bruce someday. I guess from the early reviews
of the new LP, he is trying.

    married last year with (one of) his girlfriend called Dorothee. This
    was kept in secret by the record company that didn't want John's image

    	that the dates may change)  Bon Jovi will be in Providence,

    I went to see them on Friday. 'Twas a very good concert. They certainly
    have developed over the four times I've seen them (The first at
    Newcastle Maifair in '85 on their 7800�F tour). 
    There was a good mixture of material, but I felt they could have
    paid a bit more attention to their earlier stuff (IMO).
    
    They were unable to come back for their 3rd encore as Ritchie managed
    to run into a light and sustain a fairly hefty cut on his head.

    	I called the Centrum to find out the details as to
    	price, time, if they're giving out wrist bands etc.
    	and here's what I found out.
    
    	They are playing March 12.  Tickets are $18.50/piece.
    	Tix go on sale at 10:00 and if I understood the recording
    	correctly, they will be giving out the wrist bands starting
    	at 9:00. (I'll be there long before that!! :)  )
    	And the Box Office is open till 6:00 for those who can't get
    	there sooner.
    
    	Unfortunately I can't make it to meet with you guys the night
    	before :(  because I have a surprise b-day party to go to Friday
    	night.  I had to cancel on BK too... :(  I wanted to go too!
    	Anyway, I hope to see all of us at the show...we'll have to
    	find out where everyone is sitting.  Maybe with a little bit

    	a note in about what I heard from the Centrum Box Office recording.
    	Well, when I got there (got up at 5:30 to be there) I found

    	wristbands on Friday!!  Needless to say, I was quite p***ed!!
    
    	But we found a guy that was only buying 4 tickets and he agreed
    	to buy our two.  So I'll be there!!  And they did add a second
    	show for March 13.

                These ticket  places  are  a  pain in the ass.  A
                fiend of mine  works  for  Ticketron  (handy  for
                Providence shows), but Ticket  Master  works  the
                same way, basically.  They  hold  back  something
                like 10% of the seats in  each section to release
                either the day of or the day  before  the show to
                help  stop scalping (Jack walked into the Centrum
                box  office  the night of QR/Def Leppard about an
                hour  before  the  show and got front row!) Also,
                there  are    different  access  codes  dfor  the
                tickets, and if  you  know the "super" codes, you
                can have access to a much better ticket selection
                than  the other Ticketron/masters.   He  gave  me
                bracelets for Dio in providence the day before, I
                was  psyched,  number  one,  got  there the  next
                morning  all  ready to walk to the front  of  the
                line and laugh at the people that had been  there
                all night,  but there was absolutely NOBODY there
                at all!  I still got 3rd row for that one though,
                even though I didn't get to bust any balls . . .

    I seen Bon Jovi in Charlotte friday night! The guys put on a great
    show! They played for an hour and a half! I was'nt too impressed
    with Skid Row, They did'nt sound as good as the album! But over

                there were plenty  of good seats (including quite
                a few in the  first 10 rows).  I got 2nd row Ozzy

            I thought it was pretty good - Skid Row and Bon Jovi
            both did a pretty good job of keepin' the place rockin'.
            Admitted, they both sound much better in the studio -
            but I had no real complaints.
    
            Bon Jovi did "Runaway", so I was happy - although they
            DIDN'T do some of the other stuff off of "BJ I" that I
            would've liked to hear (Shot Through the Heart, Roul-
            ette, and Break Out come to mind).

    What a concert.  I had an awesome time.  It was nice to
    meet some of you guys before the show.  I thought it was
    great that he came out into the audience.  I was actually
    about 10 feet from him at one point.  I thought that if
    I jumped, I could climb up.  Actually, it would of been
    worth getting thrown out to do it.
    
    My voice still hurts and I went on Sunday.  I did alot
    of screaming.  Does anybody know where JBJ will be playing
    next?  Any comments on last night's show???

    Did you's know:
    
                   The first nites show was 20 min. longer than 
    last nites show. And both shows were suppose to end at 15 min of
    11. The band combined two encores into one and did not play a third
    encore, which they were doing for New York and New Jersey. The 
    band will be touring in the summer- rumor has it Great Woods is
    on the itinerary. Aug 9th they head to USSR for some shows...
    The Centrum was the only arena in this leg of the tour doing two
    shows. Even the Meadowlands is a one nighter. 
    
    Just a few of the things i pick up from being a stagehand at the
    Centrum.

    Just heard that Jon was arrested last week while in New York City!
    Seems he and his girlfriend and two others wanted to go ice skating
    at the Rock(plaza) after hours. they were arrested for public
    trespassing!  What a joke! and to think I payed money to see
    a criminal!

    
    Last night after Flesh at the Channel, I went to Bunratty's
    to see Pieces.  Rumors were al over the place that Bon Jovi
    was supposed to show up there.  I didn't stay too long (urgent
    business called) and I wonder if they showed.

    At the last minute, I too got tickets to Monday's show at the Centrum.
    And what great tickets-section 3, 5th row!!  Richie Sambora is even
    better looking in person than in any publicity shot I've ever seen!
    
    I do have to agree with the others that have said that Skid Row
    was nothing special in concert. I didn't even go to my seat til
    they left the stage.
    
    I hope like hell that I get to see Bon Jovi again if they do end
    up playing at Great Woods in the summer.

    Front Row is fine in a pinch or if you really want to see someone
    up close, but they charge an arm and a leg to get there.

Bon Jovi/Skid Row added another date in Providence - its either June 2nd
or June 7th, I couldn't tell what the ad said. I think tickets are already
on sale, but I'm not sure.

Also, there is supposed to be another MA date about the same time, but I think
they are still trying to decide where to play (it maybe Worcester, but it may
also be Sullivan Stadium).

    me and my remote control and a bowl of popcorn, I was flipping through

    immediately glued my eyes to the screen. Well, I figured, it's 7:30,
    that was a R.I. channel, that means that it will be on again on
    another channel.
    
    So, I flipped through them til I saw the repeat show! Sure enough,

       Well anyway, I was watching MTV last night and there's going
       to be a BON JOVI Sunday this week. (April 7).  Unfortunately
       I won't be able to see it.  I'll be in Bermuda, catching
       some rays along with some guys, parties, etc..!!! I'm going 
       to try to get someone to tape it for me though.  I'm sure Jon 
       will understand.  If I can't watch him on the tube, at least

    JBJ, people should listen and like a band because of their musical

    	I DO like their music...I love their music...but I also
    	like their appearance....and as I said, if he's happy,
    	then I'm glad.....
    
    	I've read in magazines and seen on TV talk shows that
    	it is "healthy" to have fantasies or adoration for someone
    	that you can't have.  It's normal...and good for a relationship.
    	You wouldn't be human if you didn't.  And there is no reason
    	to feel guilty for it.
    
    	Unfortunately, the press and other numerous people tend to
    	dwell on the fact that Bon Jovi and many many others have
    	a certain look that "helps" to sell their records.  I'll
    	be one of the first people to tell these people to go to
    	h*ll!!  A band or person should be reviewed on their musical
    	ability...and not because they're a "pretty boy band"...Jon
    	hates the fact that people constantly talk about his hair.
    	He wants to hear more about his music.  But that's not what
        the press wants to talk about.  It's more glamorous to talk
        about his looks and the fact that girls swoon over him because
    	he's attractive and sexy....Buck is right, sex sells.  
    	Sometimes, unfortunately.
    
    	I'll say it again.  Jon has known Dorothea for years (from what
    	I've heard and read)  and I admire his stamina for staying with
    	her when he could probably have any bombshell he wanted.  Some
    	may have misunderstood what I was saying in my other reply.
    	Yes, I do feel she is not one of the most attractive women I've
    	seen, and was not what I was expecting to see.....I sometimes
    	get taken in by the media too...so shoot me...  but he loves
    	her and that's all that matters.  And I hope that I do NOT

    I've been reading some of the 'trash' in the newspapers about JBJ
    getting married, and all of those dissapointed young heartbroken
    women out there. Like wow. Bummer eh? Do they actually think any of
    them ever had a snowballs chance in hell of clamping on to this guy?
    I *really* don't. The odds were probably better to winning Megabux in
    Pennsylvania during that mad rush to buy tix for that 85 million $
    jackpot a coupla weeks ago. Sure, it's OK to fantasize... but to be

                sneak in on boats,  etc.   it's not a *BAD* place
                for a concert as long  as  the  mosquitoes aren't
                out.  i saw dokken there  and got very rained on.
                You  can sneak in without paying, but  don't  get
                caught.  .  .  when I  go,  I pay just to save me
                the  trouble   of  climbing  fences  and  dodging
                security.  5  years  ago if they had these though

    Well as Mr.Scary knows,my sister Nancy (a.k.a. Spanky)has worked
    as the BON JOVI wardrobe manager on the previous 2 tours and even
    though their music is not technically mahvelous,it is made for mass
    appeal versus fun such as Metellica.As I have met all the band members
    and had a chance to hear them warm up before a show,I can assure
    anyone that if Jon would let Ritchie put some of the rippage he
    knows on vinyl,we would have another H/M-thrash band to enjoy.(since
    I think 80% of their material is cheesy.Thats life).

    Actually, I woudn't doubt this.  As I was driving home last night, I
    was flipping around the radio stations and landed in the middle of a
    pretty screaming guitar solo.  As I was thinking "Huh?  I don't
    recognize this...it's pretty hot...wonder who it is?...", it finished
    and went back into the song.  
    
    I couldn't believe it, it was "Lay Your Hands On Me", which I consider
    one of the lamest tunes to ever get airplay.  I'd never managed to
    actually listen to the song long enough (without being overwhelmed by
    nausa and having to either change the station or leave the room) to
    make it to the solo section.
    
    Sounds like old Ritchie can still play!  (But I agree with Todd (or
    Perry or whatever the one that started with K was, WHOEVER the heck
    this guy is...), most of their current stuff sounds cheesy.)

    Went to the GW show last night and had the `pleasure' of having dinner
    with Skid Row and the Bon Jovi boys.  The guys in Skid Row are REAL
    quite people!!!  Amazing the difference when they get up onstage!!!
    Everyone in bon jovi were real nice too, except for Jon...the guy is a
    freakin pig!!!  He sat there at dinner making rude comments regarding
    fans (esp of the female gender), and was a pig in general (no dinnder
    manners).  A bad case of the egos it seems. 
    
    Stayed for Skid Row, but left after them....sorry, missed mr. ego!

        No...we had dinner with the bands in the cafeteria at
        great woods in back.  Jon left mid-meal to go out and
        address the masses at the `backstage bar-b-q'...the rest
        of bon jovi didn't even wanna deal with it!!  
    
        FYI, the lead guitarist of skid row just ruined his hair
        with a real nasty perm/dye job...talk about burnt!!!  JBJ's
        hair isn't much better...they both looked like junk yard rats.

    When I met them the first time in Atlanta everyone but Tico was
    cool.(Tico stays in his own little world 99% of the time)Anyway,
    I came away satisfied that a person CAN make it big and still act
    like a human.But,on the BAD MEDICINE tour I met them twice more
    in Charlotte and Atlanta and both times Jon was a real life Run D.M.C
    attitude with hair.Not to mention Alec and Tico crackin'on de women
    in a most uncool(drunken)way.Ritchie and Dave on the other hand
    were mellow and would sit around and TALK to people.I'm giving Jon
    and Tico one more shot at their upcomeing show in Columbia S.C.to
    prove that their not really #ssholes and besides,my parents will
    get to meet them so the true colors should show.Stardom doesn't
    give people the right to be snobs and I hope the Bon Jovi boys 
    can prove it this time.

    If I remember correctly, they did one or two from the new
    album and the rest from "Slippery When Wet".
    
    I read in the Herald that at a show in Manchester someone
    tried to steal Richie's guitar.  Jon's brother and a couple
    of other guys "roadies" saw him and chased him.  I know they
    filed a complaint.  I wasn't sure if they were going to press 
    charges or not.  Anyonelse hear about this???

    This note is GREAT!!  I can't believe there are as many "devoted"
    fans of JON BON JOVI as I am!  I am completely and totally IN LOVE
    with the man, and I'm proud of it!!  I discovered this note a couple
    weeks ago, and just finished reading all the replys and decided
    to write and tell you about my EXPERIENCE with JON(heartthrob) BONJOVI.
    I got on the guestlist for the "backyard Bar-b-que" on the 28th
    of June.  And I have some GREAT!! pictures of the man himself...
    a HUGE poster I had blown up... he was INCREDIBLE!!  I was in total
    shock standing right next to (and touching) the man of my dreams...
    I asked him if it was alright if we got a picture together... and
    his words to me were.... "SNAP AWAY BABY!!"  I almost fainted...
    he said it in such a sexual way too... oh my GOD!!!  He signed
    autographs, and took pictures with everyone... he was VERY NICE!!
    I have to say that I was disappointed reading the BAD PUBLICITY
    that some of you have been telling about him.... it doesn't seem
    like it could be true, but I wouldn't put anything past anyone...
    I STILL LOVE HIM THOUGH!!  Anyway, I also went to the Sheraton that
    night, and then went to the Sheraton the next day before the concert
    and talked with the guy that was doing the room service for Jon
    and the boys... he seemed to think they were Wicked cool!!  Then
    I went to the Concert that night, and went back to the hotel, and
    was in the lounge, when Tico and Dave came in to party... got great
    pictures with them too... they seemed EXTREMELY friendly too!! 
    If anyone is around the BXB facility and is interested in seeing
    some of the pictures, your welcome to...

    I taped the whole show.... I have to say, that I was alittle
    disappointed with the BONJOVI part of it.  You could tell that they
    had been playing for a while before they showed the PAY PER VIEW
    audience... Jon was all sweaty right when they "first" came on...
    but they played AWESOME!!  Wanted to hear at least an hour of rockin
    from them...   
    
    I didn't think Skid Row sounded too good.  Thought that Cinderella
    was good, and Motley crue too were good.  Ozzy was weird as usual...
    and did you see the "beautiful" get up that the lead singer from
    Gorky Park had on??  Kinda funny!!
    
    Just my opinion!!   How's everyone doing today??
    
    

    I thought that Bon Jovi was okay.  I was a little disappointed that
    Jon didn't come out after when everyone was jamming at the end. 
    Made me think that he has a attitude problem or something.  Richie
    came out and jammed but Jon just waved bye!!! I was so disappointed.
    But for the most part, I thought they did a good job.
    
    I thought that Skid Row, Motly Crew, and Cinderella were pretty
    good.  I liked when they showed them back stage or touring in Moscow.
    They were cracking jokes about there being no malls or anything.
    They asked one guy on Motly Crew what he thought of the audience
    and he started to moon the cameras.  I thought that was funny.
    I also liked when Skid Row was riding around in a Golf Cart and
    they couldn't figure out why Russia has golf carts when they 
    didn't have any F***ing golf courses.  It's stuff like this that
    I wish they had shown of Bon Jovi.

    I think it was recorded earlier, cuz like with BonJovi, he looked
    like he had been playing for a while, he was all sweaty.  I was
    disappointed too that he didn't stay out and jam with them on stage.
     I don't like to think of him as "too good"... but some of the things
    he does kinda indicate that... but I still love him!!
    
    I loved watching the behind the scene shots with the bands.. they
    look like they're having a ball... and they'd be fun to hang out
    with.....

    with a pal.
    
    Mild-mannered Jon, 27, laid into Crue drummer Tommy Lee during a
    row at a NY management office.  The punch up centered on a dispute
    detween partners Doc McGhee and Doug Thaler who managed both Bon
    Jovi and Crue.
    
    A Jovi insider said: "Jon was really shouting at Tommy and they
    started throwing blows.
    
    "Then McGhee and Thaler started fighting.  It was incredible.  Tommy
    landed a punch full in Jon's face and he ended up with a black eye."
    
    McGhee and Jovi stormed out and have cut themselves off from Crue.
    
    The insider added: "Jon was always moaning about Crue's outrageous

    funny. Back when Motley Crue was on the cover of every rock
    magazine, and were on top of the business, and Jon's band
    were opener-peeons, I remember reading a few interviews with
    Jon, and he was bragging about his wild drinking nights with
    the band, Nikki Sixx in particular. Then again, every band in
    the biz back then used to say they partied with Motley Crue,

    BJ is a business, selling his looks, his songs, his show.  It is
    what it is.  Yes, he's talented - talented at writing hit songs,
    talented at catering to the post-pampers crowd, talented at saying
    "baby" 30 times in every song.  I hope Richie Sambora gets tired
    of taking a back seat to BJ and makes a break.  He can sing much
    better (IMO of course) and he's a damn good player.  I still like
    the old BJ much better, like the 1st album.  "Runaway", "Roulette",
    and "Tokyo Road" are killer.  Everything since then sounds like

    Bands that are popular, but consist of ugly musicians, will be
    perceived as good musicians because the public knows they did not
    make it because of their good looks...

    have the possibility of being perceived as poor musicians, and the
    only reason they are popular is because of their good-looks.

    I don't see why you feel you have to be personally offended because
    someone made negative comments about JBJ, who you obviously like.  It
    seemed like most of the people that made negative comments about Bon
    Jovi did say that they thought he was talented.  I didn't see any
    blanket statements saying that ALL Jons fans are adolescent, nor did I
    see any personal attacks on any of you.  

    What I do see is your unwillingness to accept or allow others to state
    their opinions, even when they worded them reasonably intelligently and
    backed them up with the reasons they felt this way.

    Kathy, your example of the bash on Metallica is totally different from
    what's going on here.  You simply said they s*ck and have no talent,
    but didn't give any reasons for feeling this way. 

    (...and Shawn's right, if you want to talk about why you don't like
    Metallica or their music, the appropriate place is the note on that
    band.  While I know you were just trying to make a point, I don't think
    this was a good example.  I don't say that simply because I like
    Metallica, even though I do, I would say the same if you used that
    example in the Metallica note to bash Bon Jovi).

    I think that most Metallica fans would take comments like this in
    stride since the style of music which Metallica plays is controversial
    by nature will never be universally popular.

    I ran into Bon Jovi yesterday.  I was offsite at the VALID Users
    Conference here in Phoenix, which was being held at the Squaw Peak
    Pointe. 
    
    Anyway, it seems that many, many women found out that he was supposed
    to stay at the Scottsdale Marriott after the show Tuesday night.
    They pulled a quick switch and went to the Pointe where we were.  He
    and Samboro were there around the pool with 2 goons.

    I just wondered if anyone else has been hearin the Bon Jovi remake of
    Thin Lizzy's "The Boys are Back in Town".  One of the local station out
    here in Iowa has been playing it the last couple of days, and claiming
    to be the only station in the world that has a copy of it.  According
    to them the rest of the country will get it next week.
    
    As far as there cover goes.  It sound pretty much the same as Thin

              Sixx has branded Bon Jovi a 'lying asshole' after 
              the New Jersey frontman told us that he had nothing 
              to do with the incident at last August's Moscow 
              Peace Festival which prompted Motley to dispense 
              with the services of co-manager Doc McGhee.
              
              the Crue fired McGhee because they claimed he gave 
              the Jovis preferential treatment at the MPF.  For 
              example, Bj were apparently allowed to use 
              pyrotechnic effects while MC were not.
              
              JBJ has also refuted Crue drummer Tommy Lee's 
              claims that he punched him after a bust up in 
              Moscow.
              
              JBJ said:  "I would've busted his f*ckin head, he 
              wouldn't be alive to talk about it!"
              
              Jon has since described Sixx as the Kevin DuBrow of 
              the '90's and accused Crue "being afraid to live in 
              Bon Jovi's shadow".
              
              "Do you really think JBJ could kick anybody in 
              Motley Crue's ass?  Nikki Sixx told me recently.  
              "If he wants to man, I'll meet him!"
              
              "Obviously Jon Bon Jovi's a liar.  He went and got 
              married, then he said he didn't; then he said he 
              did.  He can't make up his mind what he wants to 
              be."
              
              Sixx went on to accuse everyone (bar the Crue) 
              involved in the MPF anti-drug and alcohol concert 
              of being drunk for the duration of the show. 
              
              "listen, we were the only people in Moscow who 
              weren't drunk and f*cked up and it was supposed to 
              be an anti-drug concert.  ok?
              
              "There's so much lying that went on.  If you're 
              over there to talk about not doing drugs, how the 
              f*ck can you go over there and get sh*t-faced?  i 
              don't think any of it was done honestly.  I don't 
              buy into it!"
              
              Sixx described BJ's music as a 'sell-out' and 
              claimed Jon's version of events in Russia was 
              'bullsh*t'.
              
              "That group of people lied," he said, referring to 
              McGhee Entertainment, the management company 
              responsible for handling Bon Jovi's affairs as well 
              as those of other MPF acts Skid Row and Gorky Park.

The last one sounds very good. Somebody else is singing with Jon, I guess it's 
Ritchie. Also the guitar solo is very good.  Isn't this song that they sang 
during a Award-type of show ?

    I saw them twice after the 7800� album, both time they opened, and they
    did (Can't believe I'm saying this) kick some @ss. I also saw them on
    the "Slippery" tour, my girlfriend made me go, she useta be a LGTB
    (tm) but I converted her. Anyways they were headlining and I felt that
    they lost some of the energy that they useta have. JMHO. 8^). That
    coupled with the bubblegum smell made the concert less  fun than the
    previous two times I'd seen them.

Couple of points:

a.) I've also met Jon and his wife (then girlfriend), and they were nothing
    but very nice and curteous people. So he's not *always* an a**hole. (This
    was at the beginning of the 'Slippery When Wet' tour, when they backed
    up .38 Special at Great Woods.)

b.) Am I the only guy in the file who thinks that Bon Jovi (the band) has 
    gotten *better* with each album? I think that 'New Jersey' is their 
    best yet - great songwriting, much better lyrics, more expresive solos,
    great production, the whole works!

c.) There is no doubt that Bon Jovi (and Jon himself) became so popular
    partially because of their looks, and partially because of thier sound.
    But why do people see them as "selling out"? Seems to me that, if 
    anything, they have more musical integrity than ever before. And hey - maybe
    they *like* playing that kind of music! Its not "selling out", nor is it
    even their fault, if the music the like to play is also popular! (I know
    that, as a (semi-)musician, that the songs I like to play happen to also 
    be very popular, and people like them. Now am I selling out, or am I just
    playing what I like? Aren't they mutually exclusive???)

    Ritchie *maybe* a good guitar player, but personally, I haven't 
    heard ANYTHING outstanding since his solo in "Only Lonely" which
    shows IMHO, he MIGHT have something up his sleeve.
    
    Now, this could be because of someone(Jon or Producer) is holding 
    Ritchie back as far as flashing his guit skill(if he has any).
    If his solo album shows any talent, then I'll gladly retract
    this statement, but until then, I'm not impressed.

    It looks like Bon Jovi are going to resolve their much publicesed
    differences with an open air New Year's Eve show in Japan, followed
    by a 15 date tour of the Far East and China.  All five members of
    the band have agreed to play the shows.  The New Year's eve show
    will also feature Skid Row, winder and Cinderella.

    Richie Sambora's solo album should be released through the Underground
    label in April.  It doesn't, as yet, have a title.  There are quest
    apprearances from Eric Clapton and members of Bon Jovi.
    
    Richie will be coming to England during mid March to appear at the
    Royal Albert Hall with Eric Clapton, on the last night of the tour.

    The drummer in my band has a sister that travels with BJ and does all
    their wardrobe and backstage arangements (food 'n thangs ...).  He's
    been to LOTS of BJ shows, plenty of backstage jams, and was also at the
    keyboard player's wedding.  ANYHOW, he said Richie can *burn* when he's
    not confined to sappy love songs.  I think this should be a good album.

    My point was that I just don't think his solo project would
    be very interesting. I mean, if he was a guitar wiz and released
    a completely instrumental album, that would be interesting. If
    he really liked heavy metal, and released a very heavy metal
    album, that would be interesting. If he really likes R+B, or 
    Country, etc. ... you get the picture. 
    The only thing is, it will probably be BJ type music, or geared-
    for-pop radio music, to his current audience, and it will be nothing

    Richie Sambora was recently in London and he has squashed all rumours
    that Bon Jovi have permanently split.  They will reform and work

    Heard on MTV that Ritchie Sambora got Eric Clapton to play on a tune
    called "Mr. Bluesman" or something like that.  The keyboard player and
    drummer for BJ will be on the album too.  I bet this is gonna be a good

    Ritchie Sambora (IMHO) is a GREAT guitar player, and I like his
    attitude.  JBJ, on the other hand, makes my bile boil.  Sounds like
    Springsteen getting an enema with a firehose.    8^)
    
    Ritchie said in that intreview that he probably would only play
    acoustic on that cut, and let Eric play all the electric parts - should
    have seen the smile on his face, he was genuinely happy about it.  He
    said a lot of folks were expecting a guitar album, he said it was gonna
    be "an album of songs".  So, I guess he's gonna demonstrate his writing
    abilities as well.  They'll tour, depending on record sales.  I think
    it'll do *very* well.  Why ?  I think the backbone of BJ's signature
    sound will come shining through, and it won't be tainted by JBJ's
    voice.  IMHO, Sambora can sing circles around him.  But then, Reb Beech
    can clobber Kip Winger too, but ...

When Guido and Tom said lets do I'll Be There For You, I went "Ack!", but after 
the first time we played it live, I'll go OUT OF MY WAY to play it.

    Itchie Slamdoorza's new album is out.  I've heard the single "Ballad of
    Youth" a couple times now.  I wasn't impressed after the first listen
    so I thought I'd give it a chance.  I'm still not impressed.  It just
    doesn't sound much different from JBJ's stuff.

    I think Sambora has a bigger hand in the BJ sound than a lot of folks
    think.
    
    But he may have slipped into the BJ mold of trying to make a marketable
    album, rather than just an `expression' of himself, which probably
    wouldn't sell didley ...

    To say the least I Can't Stand Bon Geeky.... But they have done a lot
    for ROCK N ROLL. The key word here being Rock n roll, Not Metal. With
    all their albums equaling aroiund 25 million sold, I'd say they were
    pretty rich... Though I can't stand them and I never will, they deserve
    the vanguard award, because they did help break down that barrier that
    Dance and Pop were creating to isolate the public from Heavy Metal and
    Rock N Roll. but, in any case I would have given the Award to someone
    like Queensryche, whose lyrics are much (100 times) better than Bon
    Jahova witness's....

    What we have here is a_offensivly devious scheme to influx the selfish
    genre of 80s/90 teens with the idea dat one can live by flash over
    substance and that all you gotta do is look good and have minimal
    talent. While I have no argument to the FACK(tm) dat JonBOmb(tm)
    does make alot a money and he no doubt had to work to get it, the image
    he portrays while quality of his music diminishes, yet sells bigtime,
    clearly shows that with a proper marketing scheme and a bit of hair,
    the easily influenced genre of 80s/90s teens cain be coaxed into
    purchasing flashy trash. At one time JonBomb(tm) didn't resort to hair
    and videos to dictate his style. Some of his earlier efforts are very
    impressive. With the emergence of eMpTyV's popularity among a_age group
    that previously only had records, tapes, radio, and concerts to judge a
    band, JonBomb(tm) saw a potential goldmine and struck out at it. After
    hitting Sam's new and used spandix shop, Le Pep�'s hair salon, and a Red
    Devil fireworks stand, Da new JOnBomb(tm) was ready to hit the video
    scene. After a flashy firework/hair tossing session they knew the vid
    would sell. With video being the main criteria used by most 80s/90s
    teens for determining the quality of a band more time was spent making
    triumphant videos and less time was spent making excellent music. Save
    for some who recognized the FACK(tm) that gimmicks, et al. were taking
    away from the music that meant so much to them. So while Poison and
    JonBomb(tm) and the like, prospered and grew fat off the shreiking
    LGTB's(tm) and groups like Motley Crue and Aerosmith sold out to the
    video god, groups like Queensryche were in relative obscurity content
    to let their music speak for itself. I can't speak for musicians
    because I ain't one, but if'n I was and if my music meant as much to
    me as most musicians claim it does. I'd fight like hell to keep it as
    pure as possible and not sell out to the fashion/video trend.

    Really? Old Van Halen did fine without Videos. Hail, Led Zep did great
    without the big video push. Queensryche and Metallica are examples of

    video to it. Shame others can't.

    I tend to disagree on a couple of points.
    
    You said QR got mass appeal from O:MC, however the only video they did
    for that one (prior to it getting big), "Eyes Of A Stranger", was a
    total flop.  It got play on MTV for about a week.
    
    Yeah, they hit the BIG bigtime with stuff off Empire, but their core
    audience, the one that bougth about a million copies of that album the
    first week it was out, was not built from videos.  Probably not true of
    their next album, which I think is kind of sad.
    
    Metallica was fully established long before they did a video for One, I
    do not believe that had substantial impact on their success.  It seemed
    to me that Metallica started gaining a lot of sales with Master Of
    Puppets, not later.  
    
    Of course, I also believe that most people that only like a band
    because of one song are not true fans and don't do a lot to contribute
    to the bands long term success.   People that listened to One or Silent
    Stupidity and hated the rest of QR or Metallica's stuff won't buy
    another album (if they even bought that one).
    
    I have to agree about old VH though, they had a lot of videos and
    gained a substantial bit of popularity because of them.  They were
    among the first bands to capitolize on the growing music video
    industry.

    They were popular before MTV started controlling the minds of the
    young.  Music videos started in what? '81?  VH had at least two, maybe
    three albums out then.  Music videos didn't start impacting the system
    until around '84, when bands started jumping on the bandwagon because
    they realized it was selling records.
    
    I think we all acknowledge that videos can boost record sales, the
    issue for some of us is whether we feel like the group or artist
    compromised themselves of the quality of their music and used videos to
    pump sales of an inferior product.  
    
    I personally think that Jon Bon Jovi did that with that song from the
    Young Guns II soundtrack, it was a poor song and I don't think it
    deserved the airplay or sales it received.

    BUt neither band changed to fit the MTV image. The musicl quality was
    as consistant as it had ever been. The people who have been listening
    to these guys forever know that. Sure, Video helped sell a few albums,
    but neither band changed to accomidate it. Which was my origional
    point. 
               I don't remember many preppy type people asking me what the

    	about him.....it was about the movie.
    
    	FWIW - and this is not just because I'm a Bon Jovi fan, 
    	Young Guns II - the whole album - is probably one of his
    	best projects.  95% of Bon Jovi's lyrics are written about
    	things *he* feels or things the band feels or things that
    	have happened in their lives.  This time he had to write
    	about something he didn't experience.  The lyrics are good
    	and the music is good.  The best song on the CD (IMO) wasn't
    	released, called "Santa Fe".  He belts out some great notes,
    	has a chorus and violins included.

    Well, I went out at lunchtime and picked up a few tapes, including
    'Slippery When Wet'.  The *only* reason I bought the tape is because I
    really like 'Wanted Dead or Alive'.  Having listened to the tape the
    whole way through, I have to say that WDoA is *still* the only reason I
    bought the tape.... I've never been much of BJ fan anyway, but I've
    been wanting to get a copy of WDoA for a long time, and the tape was on
    sale anyway, so it wasn't a complete waste of money.
    
    

    I remember when I went to the NEW JERSEY record release party.
    What a bore...the album was a loser on the 1st listen!!  Had more
    fun talking war stories with the trooper assigned to the soiree.
