48.0. "Krokus" by TIGER::SLABOUNTY (A Momentary Lapse of Reason) Thu May 19 1988 12:09

        Discography:

                     Pay It In Metal
                     Metal Rendez-Vous
                     Hardware
                     One Vice at a Time
                     Headhunter
                     The Blitz
                     Change of Address
                     Alive and Screamin'

These guys are towards the top of my 'favorite' list. I love
Marc Storace's voice, and Fernando Von Arb can play with the
best of them. The drums are good, and the bass is OK.

They are one of the most under-rated bands around right now,
although I don't know why. They have a good sound, and can
definitely hold their own in concert (saw them open for JP
        in Springfield Mass.).

Marc has been there since Metal Rendez-Vous (don't remember
the original lead singer), and I believe Fernando has been
there for the whole ride. He wrote most of the stuff for
the first album, and still handles alot of the writing for
        the band.

They've got their share of cover tunes as well:

        School's Out (Alice Cooper)
        American Woman (The Guess Who)
        Ballroom Blitz (Sweet)

I believe someone said that 'Stayed Awake All Night' is a
cover, but don't know if that's the case or not.

Any other Krokus fans out there? Let's hear from ya.

                                                          GTI

C'est moi!!! (Geez shawn we better be careful, we're agreeing too
    much!!)

    I love Midnight Maniac!  It's off The Blitz;

My girlfriend and I were cruisin' in her little yellow Subaru a couple
summers ago to that particular tune. She would swerve to the beat.

Good thing no one was coming the other way!!!

If you look at the credits for Stayed Awake All Night (if my memory
is working) it lists Randy Bachman (of Bachman-Turner-Overdrive and
the Guess Who) as the writer of this great tune. I've never heard
any other version except Krokus' but since they have recorded other
groups songs I am assuming that this is the case. Don't forget
Screamin' in the Night on a list of their best songs.

Some of my favorite Krokus songs:

        The Blitz - Ballroom Blitz
                    Out of Control
                    Midnight Maniac

Headhunter - Screaming in the Night
                     Ready to Burn
Eat the Rich (I have this shirt - incredible!!)
                     Night Wolf

One Vice at a Time - American Woman
                             Long Stick Goes Boom

Change of Address - Long Way from Home
                            Hot Shot City
                            School's Out

The other stuff is OK, but these are the best.

The shirt I have shows a wolf with a severed hand in its mouth.
The hand is covered with rings and bracelets, and the caption
is 'Eat the Rich'. ($1.99 at Spencer Gifts about 2 years ago).

                                                          GTI

48.4I like 'em anyway !!RAVEN1::JERRYWHITEThu May 19 1988 23:578
I like Krokus too, but sorry to say, they kinda fall into the
same category as Autograph. Both are great bands with good players
and good tunes but they just don't get the credit they deserve.
"Midnight Maniac" even though down here the radio stations wore
it out, still gets the volume knob to 10+ when it comes on.

I heard 'Let It Go' on the HBB Saturday night ... do they
have a new album out or what?

Not their best song, but pretty good ... Fernando toned
down the solo a bit (compared to other Krokus stuff).

I heard they have a new album out. Supposed to be
(at least according to my best friend) pretty good.

    Yo Tig~,

I think you must be refering to Heart Attack which has been
out some time (it is an OK album, nothing special). If there is
one later than this then it will be minus Fernando Von Arb and Marc
Storace, cos' they have left and it is now the Chris Von Rohr group
    (all the sacrasm intended).

    Prince Of The Dawn.

I think it is called Heart Attack. I, myself,
like The Blitz, but...can't put down what I
    	have yet to hear.

The Blitz is the business, definitely my favourite Krokus album.
The Headhunter comes second with Change of Address a close third.
Change Of Address is well underated, Heart Attack is as i said OK
but really isn't gaining any new ground , guess things had gotten
to a stage where things were stale. Favourite tracks of Heart
Attack, are Wild Love and Everybody Rocks. I suggest you give it
a listen. The album is a mixture of the last three albums as far
as style goes, Axx Attack is very much a Headhunter era track.

Hope this isn't boring you Tig~, i'm sure you didn't really
    want to know all that.

    Prince Of The Dawn.

It's not boring me. When I like a band, I want to hear
what else they have to offer and the opinions of
    	others, also.

Up until now, I thought the only other lover of Krokus
    	was Shawn (GTI)!!

    	Glad to hear there's more!!

I guess as my vaxstation 2000 is registered as 42.27 Krokus, then
yeh i like 'em. You shouldn't have told me that tig~ as i may write
some more. Favourite tracks on the whole are 'Hot Stuff','Boys Nite
Out' and 'Rock The Nations' off of da Blitz and funnily enough all
of Change Of Address, also most of Headhunter, he says not having
played it for a while and deciding he had better cos' he cannot
remember half of the track names.

If I hadda pick 1 song off of every album, my favorites would be:

The Blitz - Out of Control (the guitar solo is INCREDIBLE!!)

Headhunter - Eat the Rich (I have this shirt - incredible!!)

One Vice at a Time - Long Stick Goes Boom

Change of Address - Hot Shot City

I have liked Krokus since I heard them in high school. Their
"Screaming in the Night" really gets to ya. "Our Love" can
    be a tear jerker....

Just for a laugh I thought I might mention that there is a new
KROKUS album out called "To Rock Or Not To Be"....

I didn't even think they were still around, so I guess it will
    be a real stunner, NOT!

The most unoriginal band in the world. Having said that I still like
tracks like "Bedside Radio" and "Streamer" from the first album. When
they released the second and had a song called "Smelly Nelly" I decided
    to keep my distance.
