    	I just recently saw Motley Crue in Lakeland, FL while I was
    	living down there this past winter.  Guns & Roses opened for them.
       
    	They were terrific.  Tommy Lee going upside down and all around
    	was the highlight of my evening.  Along with a lot of other
    	things.
    
    
    	However, I heard that when they played here in Worcester - 
    	they were awful and that Whitesnake blew 'em away.  I find
    	this hard to believe.
    
    	What's the real scoop?

    	I didn't think it was right that Whitesnake blew them away,

    	engaged, or going out with models/extreme beauties.
    
    	In one of the HM mags, Vince said something to the effect

    	   Oddly enough, I happened to be in Worcester when the
    	Crue and Whitesnake came to town.  While I didn't attend,
    	both of my run-around buddies went, and both agreed that	
    	Whitesnake blew the Crue away.

     I went to the Crue show in Worcester and I thought they were great! 
    Maybe because Whitesnake was riding such a high profile at the time
    everyone was really psyched to see them or whatever, but I went
    to the show to see Motley Crue. I could've cared less who warmed
    them up. Whitesnake was good, But I am a MUCH bigger Crue fan so
    I'm a little biased towards them.

    I wasn't there, but it wouldn't suprise me that Whitesnake blew
    away Motley Crue. Coverdale assembled an INCREDIBLE band for that
    tour, and any band would have a hard time keeping up with the guys
    in Whitesnake.
    
    C'mon, do you really think Mick Mars can go onstage after Vivian
    Campbell and look good? Man for man, Whitesnake has Crue beat by
    a mile!!!

    OK, so I'm not the biggest Crue fan in the world...

    Yeah yeah yeah, the people that say that Whitesnake "blew the Crue
    away" aren't Motley Crue fans, they're Whitesnake fans, they went
    to see Whitesnake. Now what are they going to say about the show..???
    
    	I went to the show with some friends, one of which hasn't heard
    much of either band's music. I thought Whitesnake and Motley Crue
    was an AWESOME show. I personally thought the Crue was fantastic.
    Whitesnake was good. The guy that hadn't heard much music by either
    band thought the Crue were the balls. A much more exciting show
    I thought.

    Well, it seems that for every person who says the Crue was awesome,
    there's one who says that Whitesnake was awesome.  I guess the whole
    show was a major success.
    
    I wish that Whitesnake had opened for them in Lakeland instead of
    Guns'n'Roses.  At the time, G&R were still unknown.
    
    
    Question for everyone.  Do you like their more recent stuff or do
    you like the very beginnings??  I, myself, prefer the more recent
    stuff.  Vince's voice has developed a great deal since their meager
    beginnings.

           M�tley Cr�e connotes a raw sound - in other words, the
           music shouldn't be quite as refined as it is because the
           name of the group goes against it.
    
           They peaked at 'Shout ...' and have been developing a top-40
           sound, which is 'whimping out'.

    	Well, be it new or old, I like Motley Crue.  I admit they're
    	softening a bit (whimping out to use your words), but!

    Ahhh. I think that Motley Crue's first two albums are absolutely
    what Motley Crue really is, what they are supposed to be, and what
    they should definitely go back to being. 
    	The first album was incredibly raw, scumbag, pure energy metal,
    and I loved it. Back then, they were a HEAVY METAL band right off
    the streets.
    	The second album is a classic. They were one of the best metal
    bands around. 
    	Then comes incredible popularity. Nikki says "we're not a heavy
    metal band, we're a rock-n-roll band." Booooooo.
    	Then Theatre of Pain, spandex, purple makeup. Vince in this
    period is Poison's inspiration. 
    	GirlsX3 is a return to leather, and some kickass music. I say
    BACK TO HEAVY METAL!!!!
    
    	I once heard Nikki Sixx say in an interview "hey, we're just
    trying to develop. I mean, we could just go back in the studio and
    make another Shout at the Devil album."
    
    I say they should stop trying to be Aerosmith, and get back to what
    THEY are good at. 
    
    	When I saw them in concert, they played almost every song off
    of "Too Fast for Love", and "Shout at the Devil." That's their
    best stuff! I mean, as good as a band like Whitesnake is, what song
    can they play in a show that's gonna get people up as much as 
    Live Wire, Looks that Kill, or Too Fast for Love?

    	I haven't heard Girlx3 but I know Theatre Of Pain didn't do
    a thing for me.  "Live Wire" is what I ALWAYS crank up at "The
    Whitehouse" when I've got some blues to chase away.  I hope the
    Crue doesn't continue to chase the younger crowd similar to what
    "I" think KISS did and they sorta fell from grace.  KISS started
    out like a ball of fire and the Crue did too.  Crue shouldn't polish
    their songs to much, they're not that kind of band.  They're raw
    and rough, bad boys if you will.  They shouldn't put on the 3 piece
    suits even if they're tiger-stripe spandex !

    	a short while ago on accusations that these two kids were 
    	injured at one of their concerts from "pyrotechnical devices"
    
    	One of the kids (ages 17 and 19) received a split lip and the
    	other one was blinded in his right eye.
    
    	Nikki said that since the pyro stuff was behind the band there
    	was no way it would reach the audience.
    
    	The whole thing was declared a mistrial, I believe; and will
    	have to go to court again.

    Funny Kim, I was just talking to a friend today about Vince's 
    wedding. Actually, Charisse was a model in Surfing magazine's
    swimsuit issue before she married Vince. Yeah, she's a bimbette,
    but she's awesome looking, and I don't think that Vince is 
    any genius himself.
    	By the way, I guess Vince's wedding was THE place to be. 
    Nikki was best man, all the band was in the wedding. David
    Coverdale was there, I think just about EVERYBODY that is somebody
    in the HM world was there. Do you know some of the other people

    I just heard a good one on the news.  Some place in Montana they
    are playing Motley Crew and Twisted Sister 24 hours a day at high
    volume to keep ducks and geese away from a cyanide contaminated
    pond!!!  The ducks and geese hate the music so much they won't go

    	RUMOR:  The Crue had to pay a million dollars to two
    		concertgoers injured at a show in Alabama.
    	FACT:	Robert Miller lost an eye and David Wright got a
    		split lip at the Motley Theatre of  Pain concert
    		they attended in Huntsville, AL.  They claimed
    		that the injuries were the result of flying
    		debris from special effects, a dry ice machine
    		in particular, and sued the venue, promoter,
    		city, and the band for over $1 million.  While
    		the cases against the others were thrown out,
    		the charge against Motley Crue stood and went to
    		trial, where the band's lawyers proved the equipment
   		was not at fault.  However, a deadlocked jury
    		caused a mistrial, and the two youths later
    		agreed to accept an out of court settlement
    		from the band's insurer for upwards of $175,000
    		most of it to Miller.

    		Vince as saying that legalizing the relationship
    		was a big mistake.

    It was banned because the storyline contains a guy who has murdered
    his wife/girlfriend and throughout the video you see evidence of
    her demise and the steps leading up to her death, and the police
    arriving at the end. I thought it was one of the best videos i had
    seen by any band that concentrates the video around an idea. You
    do also see occasional shots of the band members in action.
                       
    I think i had better watch it again before i try to interpret
    in any more detail.

    TFFL is a CLASSIC kick as* album. It is a very raw dirty 
    album by (then) young Motley Crue true dirtbags. An album
    full of the energy of a band that was living VERY dangerously
    at the time. It's also one my fave all time albums.

        that the ripped jeans and tee-shirt stage was over and now it's

    	From the pictures I saw, they looked like a cross between
    Shout at the Devil, and Girlsx3. Vince is blonde again, Nikki's
    got the 'Shout' hair, and they're wearing those leather skivvies
    again.
    They look good.
    
    The latest I've heard is that Nikki and the rest of the band
    are completely CLEAN. No booze, no drugs. 
    Nikki's been a recluse (according to him) for the last year,
    staying in writing music. He says he only leaves the house to
    work out, for two hours every day.
    	Dr. Feelgood is about the usual topics, SEX, and sex, and
    a couple other themes I can't remember.
    	Nikki says that Mick Mars has been doing a lot of writing,
    and that all members have been actively involved with the 
    music on this album.
    	They've got 17 tracks that they want to release. SInce
    contractual agreements prohibit them from releasing a double
    album, Sixx says that they may have a surprise this year, releasing
    TWO albums. One with kick-ass heavy metal (he mentioned a speed
    metal ballad?), and the other named "Motley Crue Ballads". He's
    supposedly written quite a few ballads. A hard album, and a ballad
    album. Interesting.
    	
    	Cinderella plays on the album, Brian Adams sings backup on
    the album, Aerosmith appears on the album, and some other 'names'
    that escape me presently also make appearances.
    
    	Nikki says that he hasn't felt this hungry since 1981, when
    the band was trying to make a name for itself. He credits his
    new clean lifestyle for making him an "animal" and making him
    get as excited about the band as he is. He says all he cares
    about is this album, and his three rock and roll brothers.

No, but I also believe that the band has a responsibility to protect their 
fans in every way possible. There is no way a band should play so loud that 
there is a chance of injuring someone in the crowd. It is not reasonable for a 
fan to expect that sort of injury - she shouldn't knwo better, but the band 
should!

I mean, if attendance is the issue, where does the line stop? If someone 
smashed into my car, am I at fault, because no one is *forcing* me to drive?

Sorry, Tig, but I can't follow that line of reasoning. If the facts are true, 
and the girl did lose her hearing because the band was too loud, I think the 
band should be accountable for that.

    The Rolling Stones were were fined heavily on their last US wing
    around the big arenas for playing some dates at 156db!  OSHA states
    a person should not be exposed to 117dbs for more than 20min at
    a time, and 140db is the threshold of pain, so in that case its
    the bands fault for being irresponsible!
    
    I agree with cat, noone should have to even worry about bodily harm
    when they go to see a show.  Didn't one of their fans get blinded
    by a flash pot or something?  That's their fault too!

    
    
    	I see your points, but I still think she didn't HAVE to stay
    	up front.  Florida has General Admission to their shows (At least 
    	the show that I was at) and to me that means she could've
    	moved back when she started to realize that the music was 
    	too loud.
    
    	I guess what I'm trying to get at is the fact that although
    	the Crue (or any other band for that matter) was playing too
    	loud, she should've attempted to remove herself from the 
    	situation.  Just like you're going to try and avoid a car
    	accident, you're going to try to avoid something that is 
    	harmful to your hearing.

I'm not sure that is a legitimate answer. Many times, I have been to shows and 
had my ears ringing afterwards. But it didn't hurt, or even bother me, during 
the show. It wasn't until afterwards that I noticed the effect. So she may not 
have even been aware of the problem at the time.

Besides, even if you argue that the bands are not legally responsible, they 
certainly should be *morally* responsible to their fans, and should take their 
health into consideration when performing. I personally would never want to be 
in a band that caused a fan to lose their hearing - I would feel incredibly
guilty (even if it was not directly my fault)!

    	Unfortunately, business law puts the responsibility of your
    	safety with the business, even though you are acting in an
    	irresponsible mannor. Also, the trend for laywers is to go after
    	"deep pockets" I'm sure the lawyer argued that a barrier around
    	the speakers should have been 15 feet away.
    
    	Not too long ago, some teenagers climbed over a 10 foot fence,
    	topped with barbed-wire, into some type of electrical transformer.
    	One of the kids touched something and fried himself. The parents
    	won the lawsuit. They claimed that the area should have been
    	impossible to get into.

    	her daughter to the concert and claimed she only stood in the

    If this is true then I have to side with the woman and would actually
    suggest a larger damage award.  Can you imagine never being able to 
    listen to Metal again!?  If the Plantiffs' Lawyer could prove that
    the The Crue had control over their volume and knew what level it
    was at and didn't turn it down then they should be penalized.

                Buck, I  have to dispute your quote about Rolling
                Stones playing at  150db+.    The  worlds loudest
                concert ever is Manowar  (believe  it  or not) at
                124db.  Before that, it  was  The Who at Charlton
                Athletic Football Ground in London on  May  31st,
                1976 with 76,000 watts at 120db.   Loudest  noise
                ever  created  was  from  a  48'  horn  at  210db
                (400,000watts) which is loud enough to bore holes
                through solid material.

    Aerosmith used to roll a 125dbs off the front on the stage back in
    their heyday!  I saw the Rolling Stones thing on the 6 o Clock news...I
    really doubt is was a bunch of bull.  My old 100WT Marshall top would
    churn out 128dbs (clocked) at full tilt (one cab), so I know that
    higher sound pressure levels are obtainable than what you listed.
    Bands just don't play as loud these days as they used too. 

                
                Nah, it was  an '84 copy actually.  The SPL isn't
                measures 2 inches in front of the speaker anyway.
                My car stereo is 127db,  but  outside,  not  even
                close.  I'll see if I  can  dig  up a new copy of
                TGBOWR and see what it says.

                I still say 150db+ is absurd though.
                

    
        Correct me if I'm wrong but sound decreases in intensity with 
    the square of the distance.  So the question becomes not "how
    many decibels was it?" but rather "At what distance was it at that 
    many decibels?"  Obviously there must be some distinction here.  My
    stereo has a decibel meter on it and it reads 100+ at times.  I've
    been to "softer" concerts that left my hearing impaired for days.
    I guess what I'm saying after all this rambling is that there has 
    to be a difference in the way they measure the output.  Maybe
    it's the wattage.  Anyways that's my 2 cents worth.

                It's usually measured at xx db @ xx meters.
                
                The Who  was  measured  at  50 yards.  If Rolling
                Stones were that loud, it must have been measured
                at about 10 feet.    Loudest car stereo I know of
                (there may be louder) was measured at 154db.

    Right...its done/meter.  As in the case of the MC sueing, the band has
    to be in limites from row 1, so maybe the Stones were db'd right in
    front of the mains. 
    
    Iron Maiden was touring with a stereo 130,000 watt PA for their
    Powerslave tour, I bet that could push a few db's if it wanted to. 
    
    Also for those infomaniacs here, you need 2x the power to produce an
    increase of 3db.  So, a 70WT amp is not louder than a 50WT amp.  You'd
    need 100WTs to have it be louder, and then it would only be 3db louder. 

    

                actually, it is louder, just not noticable to the
                human ear...
                
                for example, i  have 640watts in my car at an spl
                of 127db.  to  achieve 130db, id need to increase
                wattage to 1280watts!!!
                
                

    Not on the subject of the base note, but I thought it worth wrapping up
    the discussion on sound levels. IMO the damage or otherwise caused at
    concernts is often due to the quality of the PA and of the goon behind
    the desk.
    
    For instance I saw Vow Wow at Reading a year or so back. It was one of
    their first tours of the UK so didin't have their own PA and were
    hiring systems in each toen they played. In Reading the PA wasn't that
    big but was it distorting, my hearing was topping
    out. The guy behind the desk couldn't mix a rice pudding and it turns
    out he's been mixing bands for YEARS and his hearing's gone, so all he
    does these days is wack it up. Sounds good to him!
    
    On the other hand, Motorhead had an infintiely larger PA and were VERY
    LOUD. But it was more like a huge hi-fi system.
    
    The moral of the tale? I saw Vow Wow on a Monday night, couldn't hear a
    thing on Tuesday and normal aural service didn't return until Thursday!
    I saw Motorhead on Wednesday and normal service returned on Friday.
    
    Now, back to Motley Crue.....

    I think I'll stand apart from the crowd here (with Tigg!) and
    say that I think the song kicks ass. It has a raunchy feel to it,
    I like the guitar work by Mick in it (say what you want) and to
    me it sounds totally 'Motley Crue.' I'm encouraged by it, because
    I like the single, and the released single from any album is usually
    not my fave cut on the album.
    
    	I think it sounds just a BIT heavier than ANY Poison tune, and
    I didn't hear Ratt there, but that's me...

    I just saw the video for this new tune last night.  I guess the songs
    ok, I see what you all mean about that solo.  It fits ok with the song,
    but requires no great technical expertise to play.  Heck, *I* might

    There is an old blues number by that name that some old rockers have
    covered in the past.  I remember Joe Perry used to play that YEARS ago
    in like high school bands...and once a friend (who knew Joe)  and I
    went to see the first incarnation of the JPP at the Paradise, he yelled
    up "Hey Joe, why doncha play Rattlesnake Shake?"  In which Joe quickly
    replied "Hey man, you can do that one in the bathroom!"  ;^) 

    Fleetwood Mac did "Rattlesnake Shake" waaaaaayyyy back in the late
    60's when they were a blues band.

    I just got a copy of "Dr.Feelgood" on Cd yesterday (Only �9.99)
    pritty good considering most cd's here cost twelve pounds or so!
    Anyway I listened to the album but i didn't think it was very good to
    start with but once i listened to it again it got better......!
    I like the track TnT, Slice of my pie, Dr.Feelgood and few other
    tracks like Kickstart my heart.......
    I have all the M�tley Cr�e albums except :-
    
    				TOO FAST FOR LOVE!!!!!
    I know it's avaliable on CD because in the Girls, Girls, Girls inlay
    card it's say it's avaliable!
    
    I still think M�tley Cr�e's best album is :-

    	I heard on MTV this past weekend that the Crue have split from
    	longtime manage Doc McGee.  So MTV says, the Crue weren't too
    	pleased that Bon Jovi got higher billing and more stage effects
    	than the Crue.              
                                    
    	Backstage in Moscow, Tommy threw a punch at McGee.  For awhile
    	there were no confirmed reports of exactly what happened. Later
    	on, McGee released a statement saying that the two had split.
    
    	He says he feels the Crue is the best heavy metal band and
    	says that seven years together is a long time and it seems as
    	though a change is in order.

song they played was of course "Dr Feelgoog". At the begining of the song, am I
dreaming or you can hear the same "Doctor ??, please doctor ..." voice that

    I was listening to "Dr Feelgood" again on the radio last night and was
    thinking that even if Mick isn't such a technical player, they always
    seem to get him an awesome guitar sound on record.
    
    The tone he gets during the intro on that tune is among the best I've
    heard lately (and there are a lotta people getting great guitar sounds
    these days).

    The line 'Skydive naked from an aeroplan' reminds me of an interview
    with Tommy Lee, back when Shout at the Devil had just been released.

    being called a Wild Man) and that he had to "try everything, like

    I'd agree with the guitar -> Marshall for most of the song, but I
    thought the intro sounded a little different.
    
    Isn't there some sort of something extra going on in that intro.  It
    seemed to have some really high overdub or something, maybe real heavy
    exciter or part of the signal delayed a bit with the highs boosted
    through the roof.
    
    Whatever, you're right.  It's a basic kind of sound, but for some
    reason it just seems a little different the most of what I'm hearing.

Well, no one else seems to have noticed what I thought was obvious. Doesn't 
anyone else think that "Dr. Feelgood" sounds like "Welcome to the Jungle - 
Part 2"????

First, the most noticeable thing to me was the production/mix - its *very* 
similar to the GnR debut. Guitars are Les Pauls thru Marshalls, the way the 
ride cymbals cut through the mix - very familiar! Next was the song itself - 
like just after the solo, where they bring down the volume and Mick does his 
little sound effect stuff with a slide - just like in 'WTTJ' where Axl sings 
"You know where you are..."

Am I the only one who thinks so?

    	Then again, I'm not a technical person, so I don't pick up on

    Tickets have just gone on sale (today!) for 2 November at Wembley
    arena.
    
    BTW it now looks unlikely that Skid Row will be supporting the band
    on any of their tours!!!  (I am sooo upset, sob sob, Hahahaha!).
    This is because SR are managed by Doc McGhee and Motley are managed
    by Doug Thaler...and we all know what happened there don't we!!!

    I just bought the album about two weeks ago.  Haven't really given it a
    chance. So, I brought it to work today.  Has anyone else out there
    bought this tape?  I think the albums ok.  I like "Sticky Sweet" and of
    course "Dr. Feelgood" but, "She goes down" is lame, lame, lame, I
    pretty much find a lot of the album B-O-R-I-N-G.  And that song "Don't
    go away mad (Just go away)" - I wish that song would.  And, is it my
    imagination, or do I hear horns In "Rattlesnake shake".  Wonder what
    Tommy's gonna do this year?

    to that album every day for nearly a year.

    Its called Hate Into Fire and is a live LP of the Crue playing
    somewhere in America in 84'.It has 9 songs on it and an interview.
    It is released on the Devils Records label.  Does anyone know about

     Re-2,
           The copy of 'Hate Into Fire' could be worth up to 30 pounds, as
    it is a very limited release. I happen to have the Picture Disc which
    i picked up a couple of years ago at a record fair in Reading. On the
    whole picture discs tend to sell for more. The same day i picked up
    a copy of a Kiss album called 'Kiss This Live' in picture disc, only
    released as 500 copies to the Italian Fan Club. The album has a crude
    picture on the back (i didn't buy it cos of that honest).
    
           I guess if you can find the right Fan you could sell it for more
    than this, the picture disc cost me 15 pounds two years ago. I also 
    have a picture discs limited release called 'Helter Skelter' which
    is a compilation of 'Shout At The Devil' and 'Too Fast For Love' and 
    features the classic 'Live Wire'.
    
           Hope this covers what you inquired about.

    Here in the States I picked up a picture disc of the Crue about
    five years ago and it has Helter Skelter on it along with two other
    songs, I can't remember 'cuz it's been along time since I took a
    look at it, still have it though.  It also had a poster in it about
    6 feet tall and three feet wide of them, still have that too.  Anyone
    else have this?  I picked it up along with a picture disc from Slayer
    called Live Dead (i've never played it 'cuz I don't care for them,
    but the disc is cool).

    MAtthew Trippe claims that he was Nikki Sixx during the period between
    Shout at the Devil and Theatre of Pain.  He has substantial
    photographic evidence, etc.  He says that the original (and now
    present) Nikki (aka Frank Ferrano) was in a car crash and was severely
    injured, but becasue Motley were just beginning to break through they
    just replaced him with a lookalike.  Now Matthew Trippe is trying to
    get his hands on some of the royalties...he says HE wrote the songs for

    I can almost-barely-notreally-alittle believe the record company
    getting a lookalike to replace Nikki for photographs etc, but
    1) they were TOTALLY broken through with Shout at the Devil already
    2) I VERY HIGHLY doubt the record co. would try to cover up Nikki's
    	car crash, especially if it was severe (besides, the Crue have
    TONS of friends in the HM/ROCK biz, it would have leaked)
    3) Nikki Sixx is about 95% of Motley Crue. He writes almost all
    of their material, there's NO WAY some geek with a poof-hair-do
    from Florida is going to just step in and take over his writing
    chores for the band.
    4) I don't believe that the company would risk millions allowing 
    	this guy to not only pose as Nikki, but to also write music
    for the band.
    5) I don't believe the car crash story either.

    Yes, I agree with all your arguments - I too, do not believe Trippe's
    story, but he has some very good photographs to compare "Nikki" over
    the two periods....there *are* differences.  The Crue are always saying
    how they do not like the songs on TOP: these are the one's that Tippe
    is supposed to have written.
    
    As yuou said Moto' they had broken through with SATD, so I wouldn't put
    it past them to cover up the accident.

                seen them 4  or  5 times over the years, starting
                back  when they backed  up  Ozzy  at  the  Boston
                Garden.    Every  time, they've  s___ed.    Vince
                sounded  like $#1^, Nikki was screwing  up,  Mick
                couldn't play to save his life, etc.    The  only
                one  who  even  sounded somewhat professional was
                Tommy.   If  they  make  it  back to the Centrum,
                maybe I will  go  check  them  out this tour.  Oh

    I had a great time at the show saturday night.....I'm ashamed to say,
    that it was my first Crue concert...but it won't be my last....since
    i've never seen them before, i can't comment on their playing or vocal
    abilities etc...but the show was reall well done, very pro.......i
    LOVED the talking face at the beginning, the pyrotechnics, Tommy Lee's
    flying kit and yes, even the girls...they did a great
    job.........funny thing was that when my girlfriend and i went back to
    the hotel..(Marriot) where we were staying (hey why not, do it up big
    time whenever you can!).....all the kids who had the place staked out
    started chasing us through the halls cause they thought we were the
    Crue Girls......it was hysterical and i'm not making this up.......they 
    followed us upstairs...called and knocked on our door all night. they were
    singing "girls girls girls" outside the door....hotel security was around 
    but they came back and called up periodically........what a scream!...all 
    in all a GREAT evening!....both the show and the ego bonus points we got!!
     ....can't wait to see them again!............/karen
    p.s. Warrant and the Crue really shouldn't have been together on the

    	heads.  Then it would go from one end of the Centrum to the
    	other.  Turning. (not upside down but side to side so everyone
    	could see him)  All the while playing little clips of classics.

    drumset idea is probably the coolest I've heard.

    	Mostly because it took so long for him to get up on the

        Hello! I'm new to this NOTES thing. I'm psyched that I
    found a topic I could relate to. 
    
        Anyway..........on the subject of Motley Crue...I caught
    their show on Saturday night (the 16th), I had NO complaints
    about it. It was perfect (IMO). AND............after the show
    I was lucky enough to meet them. Nikki is even sexier in person!
    I didn't meet Vince, he didn't come to the party. OH, I took some

    I have to agree....I was very disappointed with the CD.
    Dr. Feelgood and Kickstart are the only two songs worth

        I LOVE the drums in Kickstart, they get me going. 
    I must have listened to the album about 5 times last
    night and I came to the conclusion that I really did't
    like the song "Change". I really like "She goes down"
    and "slice your pie", and I thought the horns on 
    "Rattlesnake Shake" were really funky. I should say
    that I just love everything about them, basically!
    
    
        To the dude that asked if I had a sister Nancy.......
    NOPE. But, I have a brother named Billy. I DO have a
    relative named Nancy, but she is about 32 or so.......
    (I'm only 18).
    
    
        If any of you guys went to the Crue on Saturday night,
    you might have seen me........I was the one with the BRIGHT
    blue sequined dress. The lighting dudes up in the girders 
    were having a great time shining the lights on the dress for
    the better half of the night! I left there deaf and blind!

    hind-quarters all over the stage and back into the alley behind City
    Aud. Actually I kinda like Dr. Feelgood too, but in a different way.

    I saw thier recent tour (Dr.Feelgood),let me tell you it was
    unreal.Warrent was opening for them,when they were on,almost everyone
    around me was sitting,but as soon as Motley came,We're talking a
    major concert.They opened the show with "Kick start my heart"wich
    was wild.I lost my voice after the thrid song.
        They some of thier old stuff like "Too young to fall in
    love","Looks that kill",Live wire"It was unbeliveable.The show was
    just awsome from begining to end.Motley Crue has come from along
    way.They took alot of crap,but they came back fighting.
        Now,it's the 90s',The boys cleaned up thier acts and started
    to do some serious a$$ kicking.In about the mid 90s',They're coming
    out with a greatest hit album,I'm not sure the name,I got it on
    the music note #1156.It's got all thier albums and year on it.
        I've been a fan since "Shout at the Devil"came out.I loved that
    album.Then I found "Too fast for love" and I fell in love with that
    one.Crue would always be up thier with Ozzy,Metalica,Dio,You name
    it.I like em all,I love em all.
                           Crue forever.

    	In today's Globe there's a small article about MC stopping one of
    their shows because stuff was being thrown on stage.  The article said
    after Vince Neil was hit in the face with a cup of ice, he put down his
    guitar(does he play one?) and walked off the stage with the rest of the
    band.  After Vince was treated for a minor injury the band returned to 
    finish the show.

    Vince realy does play guitar.He plays on one of the songs off
    "Dr.Feelgood".I seen him play at Worcester,he did pretty good.I
    think we'll be seen more of Vince Neil playing guitar.He's not a
    bad player,as I said before.

    It just doesn't seem to have any style to it.  I'll listen to Salty Dog
    before I'll listen to this...they're basic, but they groove.

Anyone else notice that the beginning of the 'Dr. Feelgood' album is a direct 
steal (tribute?) to Kiss's 'Destroyer' album? Complete with car crash sound 
effects and everything....I keep expecting them to go into "Detroit Rock 
City"!

    GFTPM had an interview with Mick Mars a couple of months back.
    It was completely intentional on their part to rip the Beatles
    off. He did mention some other places on the album which were
    quotes from other songs....but I don't have the interview in front
    of me so I can't site them. If anyone is interested I can dig up

Haircuts aside.....

The Crue put on a decent show, I thought. They weren't 'awesome', but they did 
sound better than I thought they would live. Only real complaint was that it 
was way too loud. But I guess that is to be expected.

I gotta say this for the boys - they know how to work an audience. It was 
quite a presentation - lazers, smoke bombs, fireworks, they played all the 
hits, etc. It's all been done before, but the crowd loved it, and I guess 
that's all that counts for them...

    Which night did you go?  Saturday night it was great !!!  They
    played really tight and the sound was not as bad as I had
    expected.   The special effects were great....and Tommy Lee is 
    really an exceptional drummer (IMHO).  As far as Nikki goes....

    store with one. I go into a store for cigarettes and the buttons are
    all over the counter, and T shirted teenies are hanging around outside.
    I look out the window of my house, which is across from a Jr. High and
    down the street from a High school and  run out of fingers counting em
    up. I can't stand it anymore. I heads down to the local Bad Book store
    and see calanders, and NKOTB Magazines scream in my face.

    or the fact of just when she got pregnant....i had a more cynical
    view of the whole thing....the point was, she doesn't need to lift a
    finger for the rest of her life now.....and yes, i do think that some

    again...as for doing that to her body...well some people have been

    have you ever heard Megadeth's version LIVE. If not now I know why you
    hate it, if you have, then I don't know what's up with you. I really
    don't think the song will be any good if you can dance to it. Which is
    what you can do to most Crue songs. Uppity beats and a cowbell will not

    It seems to be the in thing a few years ago for American bands to cover
    the Sex Pistols(Anthrax...god save the queen,Megadeth...Anarchy in the

    festival 3 years ago (in Zwolle,Holland).

    them awhile back, there were skin heads, but they were getting beat
    just as much as the rest of us. I don't know what it is, but people
    like to let out aggression through music, but I can't see people

    Don`t get me wrong - i think Crue are excellent,and agree that they
    were one of the best bands around when metal was particularly 
    stagnant (84-86 `ish).

    Not to put Crue fans down, I have a few that are major fans, but I'd
    have to say that a Thrash band has the most dedicated, and intense
    fans. All you have to do, is go to a Testament, Metallica, Megadeth,
    Slayer, Anthrax concert and see the fans jumping on each other,
    PUNCHING each other, but the thing is no one takes it personally,
    everyone knows that you're out to relieve  a little pressure, A Mosh
    pit is wuite a site. People say that if you're moshing than you're not
    paying attention to the music, TOTALLYT UNTRUE!!! When you mosh you
    usually do it to the beat and the words of the song. Like Exodus's
    Toxic Waltz. Anyway, Crue Fans bang the stage with their fists, others
    bang people with their fists. nothing personal. 
    
    sorry to drag on, I just think that if mustaine had been at the channel
    and threw a bottle into the audience that hit someone, I doubt there
    would have been a law suit, espescially if the bottle was thrown at him
    first.

    Agreed, too. I must say that pits have gotten out of hand, because of
    what I think is the SKINHEAD emergenge. I went to see Pantera awhile
    back, and right in the middle of a friendly but rough (not violent) pit
    a bunch of skinheads joined in and then PERSONAL fights began to break
    out. Now I have nothing against Skins, but they do tend to start a lot
    of personal fights. As for the bottle, I don't think Dave would have
    laughed if he hit a girl, but if she was a true 'Deth fan she would
    have accepted the apology under the circumstances, and so should've the
    girl in springfield....

    impressed.  It sounded like pretty generic sounding rehash stuff.  Take
    the old Crue formula, put a few new words over it and then have Mick

    For the first time last night I heard the original version of
    "Livewire" from their first album when it was released on an
    independant lable.It was very raw and Mick Mars guitar sounded not so
    good but geez it was excellant.One of their better songs,in fact,my 
    personal favourite,so for me it was very excellant.Now Primal scream

    Motley Crue has influenced me in such a life changing way....
      After I saw the Too Young Too Fall In Love video my life turned 
      around. It's kind of like my Beatles or Led Zeppelin.  So saying that
    I'll report this:
    
             Mtv said Vince Neil has left Motley Crue to pursue a race car 
    driving life?!?! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The band said "He no longer
    shares the passion for music that we do" and are currently looking for
    a new singer. (IMMPOSSIBLE)!!  
    
     I don't know what this does to you but my mind,body and ALL of my
    friends are confused.  My roomate who is a HUGE cruehead is in hell...
    He's eternally depressed.  I told another one of my friends and he

    Cr�e back in high school and college. I'm kinda at a loss for words.

    I saw the deal on MTV about this and they said that Vince was "leaving"
    the band because of his lack of motivation and because he'd fallen off

    actually looking forward to hearing the 'new-and-improved' Motley Crue! 
    I hear it's supposed to be a lot more "ballsy".  Just what they need,
    IMO.  Plus, Vince sounds like total sh*t in concert!  His voice is just

    It does'nt matter what Vince sounded like. He was a MAJOR part of 
    Crue, and without him, they will never be the same.. I've been a 
    MAJOR fan of them for YEARS.. they are what go me into the 'band'
    business, When I heard 'Looks that Kill' I bought the album.. the 
    1st band I ever REALLY liked.. since then I've collected everything
    they had.. I've got some bootlegs they are VERY rare... 
    
    They might get a singer with a better voice, but Motley Crue, they
    will never be again......

    Jim, he might have been a major part of the band -then-, but that's why
    they kicked him out, they said that he was never, EVER, around during
    the song writing process, and he's the singer!  You'd think he could at
    least come up with the words...at least sometimes...
    
    Don't get me wrong, I'm a Crue fan but their old stuff definitely beats

    *just* another hard rock band, there were dozens of bands that had
    similar sounds.  

    If you want to talk about bands that brought about a revival in the
    hard rock/metal genre in the early 80's, it was bands like Van Halen
    and Ozzy that did it.  Motley Crue were NOBODY back then!

    I mean, everyone thought they were Kiss clones when they first came
    out!  I saw them when they toured for Shout At The Devil and was
    massively underwhelmed.  Years later, I saw Poison tour for their
    second album and I remember thinking that there were a lot of
    similarities.

    rockin...Scorps were tearing it up...Judas was in meltdown mode...

    poseur bands from LA-LA land.  I saw Motley on the SATD tour, with
    Ratt backing them up in support of their OOTC tour.  I thought
    Ratt was a better band, but no by much!

    So,I wonder what it came down to..?
    Did Niel fall off the wagon and into a Race Car???
    Bet they kiss and make up within a year.
    Either that,or it's all a plot for them to have a GRAND reuion tour

    I always remember an interview they gave on UK tv about '85-'86.They
    said that if ever a band member leaves then they would go on without
    a replacement.I always thought this to be a bit strange as what if
    the drummer left or handsome Mick Mars??Anyway,Crue will never be the

    it said David Lee Roth has already contacted Motley Crue about having
    him as their new singer..... 
    
    I don't know if this is good or bad... can't really see Dave singin
    'Looks That Kill'.... I think he's over the hill anyway.. he proved
    that his last tour... Maybe he'll get a sudden burst of energy!?

     I saw/heard the telephone interview with Vince Neil on Mtv.
       He said in NO way was he pursueing a race car driving career.
       Must has always been #1 in his life...
       He said he was fired out of the blue and it came unexpected.
        He said he feel really sorry/sad for the fans because he
    thought/think Motley Crue was one of the best band ever.
      He also said he doesn't like the Crue's 'new' direction.
     Kurt Loder asked if it was like a Paula Abdul album and he said
    'pretty close'.  He's going to be doing a solo career....

    I heard they were getting a duel singing combo, Snoopy and Rin Tin Tin,
    then they were gonna change the name to "Mutley Cr�e".

    I also saw/heard the section about this on MTV's "The Day In Rock" last
    night.  They had Tommy Lee on there talking about something, but I
    couldn't hear what he said 'cause the baby was yellin.
    
    They had a telephone interview with Vince who said (as Friz already
    mentioned) that he was definately fired, not a mutual parting, and that
    it was a total surprise to him.  He said that he was not persuing a
    career in car racing, that was nothing more then a hobby for him.  He
    also mentioned being excited about persuing a solo career.
    
    From what Vince said, sounded like he thought he was blindsided!

    Motley Crue was also my favorite band all through high school. They
    were the first band I saw live and I fell in love with them. That
    was the Theatre of Pain album. Too Fast for Love, Shout, and Theatre
    were excellent but after that I think they started downhill. They 
    were the best as a Hard band. Once they started with the glam they
    were not the same. I just hope they start playing on the harder
    side again like they used to. If Vince goes solo I hope the same 
    for him. 
    
    Who knows maybe this was what they needed to get them back to the 
    way they used to be???  I HOPE SO

       VN left Motley Crue for ONE reason...  He didn't like the
       new direction that MC was taking..  The rest of the band
       was bringing in Synth. and backup singers for the new
       songs.  VN got fed up and left, he still has a contract with
       the record label, and he will be working on a solo album
       soon...

    that he was FIRED.  I *heard* him say this in a telephone interview on

    What gets me is the amount of sh*t that band members say when the band
    is still together.
    
    Only a few months ago Nikki was on a UK rock program called Raw Power
    saying that if one member of the band left or died then there would be
    NO MORE CREW.
    
    We will just have to see if this is the end of Motley Crew. I doubt

    I just saw Vince on MTV's Rock Line (dialin interview program).  He was
    talking to Martha Quinn about getting the ax, how it happened and all.
    
    FWIW, he seemed to be honest about it and was taking it pretty well. 
    He showed no evidence of bad feelings toward the rest of the band at
    all.  In fact, he encouraged people to buy their new stuff!
    
    At one point, Martha was like "This is TOO intense!" and Vince was like
    "Naw, not intense.  These things just happen."
    
    I was a little surprised at how well he was taking it, acted like a
    true gentleman.  I've found new respect for him because of this.
    
    FWIW, he has cleaned himself up (ie actually shaved) and lost some
    weight and looked pretty good.  A *lot* better then the last interview
    I saw with him where he looked like a fat sloppy slob.
    
    He said a lot of musicians had been calling him wanting to work with
    him.  Might be interesting...

    I'm kinda interested in what Vince may come up with. It'll be
    interesting to hear him singing thrashier stuff, assuming the Metallica
    he was refering to is older Metallica. 

    Yeah, I agree with Jim, Vince seemed a little depressed about it.  I
    didn't think it was too cool of Martha to keep diggin at him trying to
    get him to talk more about it when it was clear that he'd said all he
    wanted to about it.

    Another interesting thing was how he dealt with her question about him
    and Axl Rose.  He basically said that they never talked, but he didn't
    have anything against Axl anymore.  Said he just got mad at the time,
    but that's all behind him now.  He did add that he was good friends
    with some of the other members of GnR and frequently went out with
    Duff.

    I'll say it again, I was real impressed with his integrity!

    We don't know yet if this will be different from the VH/DLR split up,
    since it was the VH side of the camp (especially EVH) that did *all*
    the mud slinging that I heard.  I never heard DLR say anything bad
    about VH.
