Got back saturday from a festive, fun filled, week of skiing in Utah.
Hit 5 resorts:
Solitude 3/16
Alta 3/17
Snowbird 3/18
Park City 3/19
Brighton 3/20
Alta 3/21
Solitude is a gorgeous ski area. Very quiet, very difficult. The
conditions were soft corn and powder on Sunday. The glades here are
outstanding and steep.
Alta is huge...snowed over a foot while we were there. Plenty of bowl
skiing...everywhere. Plenty of powder.
Snowbird is the toughest ski area I skied at. The double diamond
trails there are truely scary. I've never skied terrain as tough as
the bird (yes, tougher & steeper than Tuckermans!). My favorite one was
right under the tram at the top of the mountain.
Park City is park City. I was not impressed with the expert terrain
here. The only thing worth mentioning is the terrain off the Jupiter
lift and the Park City Village. Park city base is at a very low
altitude and the snow is very mushy. I was amazed at the 6 person
chairlift.
Brighton in Big Cottonwood Canyon is a gem of a ski area. The skiing off
the Millicent double is extremely tough if you venture to the left of the
lift (not too mention the lift itself is pretty tough too!). I
enjoyed skiing the chutes under the quad chair. There are glades are
everywhere off all lifts. This place is a great and uncrowded not too
mention they actually have a high speed quad.
I went back to Alta on Friday and the place was packed!!! The skiing
was soft and temps were pretty warm.
