1258.0. "OpenVMS 7.1, ZLXP-L2 installation problem" by EPICDA::GEORGES () Mon Mar 10 1997 11:59
Alphastation 254-266
Alpha firmware V3.8 update
OpenVMS V7.1
Open3D V3.5
ZLXP-L2
Hi,
A customer of mine is trying to intall a ZLXP-L2 graphic card on an OpenVMS V7.1
system without success.
For a ">>>SHO CONFIG" the card is correctly seen
PCI BUS00 SLOT 13 DIGITAL PV-PCI graphic controler (this is correct for
ZLXP-L2 graphic card)
But when starting DECwindows there is a "No graphic device found" message.
When he does an MC SYSMAN IO AUTOCONFIGURE the result seems to be the load of
SYS$GUBDRIVER for device GUA0.
For "SDA>Clue config" there is a track of GUA: PixelVision 3D (this is for
ZLX-L card),
And within the SYS$SYSTEM:SYSCONFIG.DAT new OpenVMS 7.1 file that is supposed to
content all the possible devices, there is no track of ZLXP-L2.
I have found that the minimum required for ZLXP-L2 installation is
OpenVMS V6.1-1H2 Open3D V3.0 + Open3D_E16030
Is Open3D V3.5 enough to replace Open3D V3.0 + Open3D_E16030.
If yes, what may be wrong there ?
Thank you for your help!
Pierre.

1258.1 | Open3D V4.1? | EPICDA::GEORGES | | Mon Mar 10 1997 12:18 | 6 |
| Hi,
I have found that Open3d V4.1 is specially build for OpenVMS 7.1.
Does this mean that only the V4.1 version of Open3d does work with OpenVMS 7.1?
Pierre.

| For OpenVMS V7.1, no version of Open3D prior to V4.1 will work. This is
because OpenVMS V7.1 contains the X11R6 server (prior had R5 server). Open3D
V4.1 is the only release with R6 DDXs.
