1248.0. "is ZLXp-E1/E3 homogeneous multihead ?" by GYPOS3::EIBL (Reinhard Eibl @FKR, DTN 865-4027) Thu Feb 20 1997 11:34
Hello all,
have a question to dual-head support in Open3D 3.4 UNIX.
The SPD says following:
- The ZLXp-E options support homogeneous multihead. This means that
up to three ZLXp-E options can run on an AlphaStation, and 3D
is supported on each of the heads.
- The ZLXp-E options also support homogeneous 2D/2D or 2D/3D mul-
tihead. Up to three ZLXp-E options are supported; this means that
one ZLXp-E option can run 2D while other ZLXp-E options run 2D
or 3D.
Does homogeneous mean: only E1/E1, E2/E2 and E3/E3
or is eg. E1/E3 also a valid homogeneous combunation ?
I'm asking because a customer reported sporadic X server crashes on his
E1/E3 dual head systems (DUNIX 3.2c, Open3D 3.2). He told the E1/E3 is
stable with DUNIX 4.0b, Open3D 4.2 but he cannot upgrade all systems.
Before having him upgrade Open3D from 3.2 to 3.4 i'd like to check the
homogeneous multihead issue.
Thanks for help in advance.
/Reinhard
