1239.0. "fast 3D rotation in IDEAS gets system dizzy ?" by GYPOS3::EIBL (Reinhard Eibl @FKR, DTN 865-4027) Wed Feb 05 1997 12:19
Hi all,
have a customer suffering from system crashes (not X server crashes) which
occur when he tries to rotate a huge object too fast within IDEAS.
(Unfortunately no cores and no crash dumps are created).
Rotating the object slowly gives no problem.
Here some configuration data:
AlphaStation 255/233, 160MB, 512MB Swap (2 Partitions), PowerStorm 3D30
Digital UNIX V3.2G (Rev. 62), Open3D 3.4, IDEAS 3.0
System is tuned according our internal IDEAS installation and tuning guide.
X server options: -nice -2 -bs -su -terminate -I -ffbDoDMA 4
To give an imagination of the object size: the part file is 72 MB.
Anybody seen a similar behaviour, explanations or ideas what's wrong ?
Thanks in advance for help.
/Reinhard
