1079.7Many OS upgrades...DECWET::MARIERMon Mar 31 1997 16:2310
It has been almost a year and I am still getting
these errors. I am now running X4.2-8 and just got
this same error AGAIN....

I just filed 3 different QARs all related to video (pvp)
problems. Hopefully this will get someone to come up with
a solution to my video problems.

Does anyone have any advice on who I should contact to
get this ongoing problem resolved.

    There has been a patch available for this for a while.
    Most of the people who had the problem received the
    patch. Unfortuantely, you were not one of them I gather.

    However, that's not a problem: the new Open3D v4.3 kit
    is now availble, and it has the new software in it to
    solve this problem. See note 4.last for a pointer.

1079.9The patch needs to be in the BASE OS.DECWET::MARIERFri Apr 04 1997 17:278
When will this patch be included in the steel OS?

I have not installed any special Open3D kit, I've just
installed the OS and get hit by this problem.

I have filed Show Stopper QARs against this as I can
no longer install the newest version of Steel (bl9)
and I need to get my work done.

    Um, it's not clear to me that the ZLXp-L devices are
    yet supported in Steel. PRobably not. Use a supported
    device if you can't wait.

    As to when the p-L devices will be supported, maybe
    another month or so.

1079.11A new video card is not an option.DECWET::MARIERMon Apr 07 1997 18:199
This is my desk top machine. I've had it for almost a year,
and it has worked on all prior versions of Steel. I'm not able
to get a different video card, I have to work with what my
hardware person gives me. Now I can't even install steel bl9.
I need to do development work on steel, but I can't even
run the newest version. I need a work around of this problem
not an excuse...

Sorry if I sound a little upset... but I am.

    I wasn't offering an excuse; no excuse is necessary.
    Those were just facts and trying to set your expectations.

    If it worked on previous versions of Steel, and now it
    doesn't, perhaps you could get a workaround from the OS
    folks? Something they did has changed things, so perhaps
    they could un-do it for you. Just a thought.

1079.13QARs filedDECWET::MARIERTue Apr 08 1997 13:3423
I filed the following Show Stopper QARs 52259 & 52260.

Both of these have been assigned to the OPEN3D group.
The Install group has verified that the propblem is in
the code which open3d

The following is the response from the Install group on
QAR 52259:
<<<<< Appended by WEB/QAR [grist] on - Fri Apr  4 07:41:52 1997 >>>>>

 I can not get PVPCI to run windows in a BL9 install, or
 on a BL9 or BOS-installed BL10 system.

 In all cases the screen is flashing and the RM process
 is getting a SIGKILL.

 I'm going to re-assign it to Open3d because there have
 been no graphics changes through BL9, and it appears to be
 a start up problem with the RM process which only Open3D
 knows about.
