2732.0. "GKS and Postscript level 2 and new Printers" by EVTAI1::LEREUIL () Thu May 15 1997 11:27

    Hi

May anyone help me on GKS drivers ? I don't know anything about
GKS so excuse me if the answer is obvious or if my question is inapropriate
    in this notesfile.

My customer works with LN17ps and LPS17 with DECPRINT Supervisor 1.3
and GKS 6.5	, and he randomly encounters problems with files generated
    by GKS.
By default, GKS produces Postscript Adobe level 1 and not level 2.

I would like to know if there are any plans with GKS in order to be able
to include these new printers : ie. lps17, ln17, ln24 ... and so on.

GKS Engineering didn't make any changes to its Postscript specific driver
    to support Postscript Level 2.

    Thanks indeed in advance

I suggest contacting the printer/printer software groups. We have
no plans to to any work on the GKS PostScript output format. In
addition, I would hope that PostScript level 2 is fully compatible
with PostScript level 1 so the problem maybe with the printer.

Hi , many thanks for your help but these problems are only encountered
on the new printers level 2 Postscript , never with the old printers
I presume a bad Postscriptcode is generated by GKS (only level).
Do I need IPMT ? for the new drivers..

    Thanks indeed

Sure, generate an IPMT for the printer, not for GKS.
