That SNL guitarist seems to do the same thing, although I've
only caught him a couple times. So either I happened to see
him do it the only 2 times he ever did, or he does it all the
time.

| There was a classic line in the Rolling Stone review of
Woodstock (the first one.. god, I'm old!), talking about
Albert Lee (Ten Years After/Going Home) and steel wool...

| Well, he wasn't a guitar player, but watching Dizzie Gillespie's
cheeks when he played trumpet was pretty frightening...

| In one of the music-related files around the net I saw someone's review
of a Buddy Guy show, in which their main comment was, "He made all the
right 'blues faces'" blah, blah, blah...
I didn't agree with the review, but thought it was a cute comment. :-)

P.S. How long will it take db to start talking about the "Steve Morse
face" and how it's better than everyone elses? :-)

3218.10 | Morse is about as exciting (facially) as Charlie Watts | DREGS::BLICKSTEIN | The moment is a masterpiece | Wed Jul 24 1996 08:50 | 14 |
| Not at all, I'm probably laughing harder than anyone.
Morse is stone-faced when he plays. If we had to watch his face, we'd
all get bored very quickly. Watching his hands... different story.
I think the most notable guitar facial expression is every second
"Nigel Tufnel" plays. It's one of the funniest aspects of the Spinal
Tap thing.
I love the Tap commercial they're playing during the Olympics.
It's hysterical. The best possible send-up of that IBM series
of commercials imaginable.

| Watch Pat Metheny when he plays. Half the time his eyes are closed
Not to mention Carlos Santana with that tight lipped, eyes closed look
too!. I mean, it's one thing for a horn player. Keith Jarrett does this
on keys too. Amazing!

What about Carlos Santana, same era as the Alvin Lee reference
in clips from the original Woodstock.

| This smacks more of body gyration but how about Neil Young whenever he
plays his Les Paul? Neanderthal man or what?
Then again, "I know Neil Young, and Neil's no Joe Cocker".
