My boyfriend has recently purchased a beautiful Lowden acoustic guitar. After trying out many different brands and models for his first nice acoustic, Lowden it is. Lowden guitars are handmade in Nothern Ireland, originally started up by George Lowden. My boyfriend ended up selecting the O25 model, which is a large guitar (almost jumbo size), with a cedar top and Indian Rosewood back and sides. It sounds soooo beautiful and very balanced. He purchased it at the Lexington Music Emporium, which many of you have browsed around in. The Music Emporium is a little pricy, but they also give a lifetime warranty to the original owner. Whenever I hear him play this instrument, it gives me chills. Now I want one. :)

I remember seeing a Lowden on my recent visit there; it may have been the same one. Indeed, a very nice guitar. /rick

I think it's really nice of the Music Emporium to be willing to repair your boyfriend, no matter what goes wrong with him. (I originally had "fix" instead of "repair", but that didn't read quite right...)

I've a friend who lives in Louiville who went thru much the same process that you describe and also purchased a Lowden. Not sure which model but he positively LOVES it. Payed a handsome sum fer it too. He prefered it to Martins and Taylers and the like. |
