Movie: BIRD
I just rented the movie BIRD (directed by Clint Eastwood) that
chronicles the life of jazz saxiphonist Charlie "Bird" Parker.
I'm hoping that some of the jazz guitarists in this conference might
be familiar with Charlie Parker's work. It was unclear from the movie
whether he was recognized just for his performing or was his composing
also of note? Can anybody clarify....elaborate.
Terrific movie for people whoi appeciate jazz music of the BeeBop era!
Sad to see another example of a fine musical artist whose life and
career ended as a result of drug/alchohol abuse; he died at age 34.

Bassist looking to get in with a band or just some people to jam with.

I saw the Benny Goodman story once. I thought it was awesome. There was
quite a bit of actual footage, and that big band smoked!
Also caught a movie once called New York New York (I think) same scene
thought it was neat.
Did I read in here about Brad Pitt playing SRV in a n up and coming
movie about Stevie's life?
