| Ed,
I had one very similar to yours except for the year... mine was a 1970,
all original, excellent condition, etc. It was appraised by Gruhn at
$1250 and I sold it to a guitar store for $900. I have no idea whether
a '79 would be more or less valueable than a '70.

I am assuming this was made during the "Norlin" era. It should have
an orange label inside the body, visible through the F-hole on the
top side of the body. The neck should have a "volute" which is a
bump in the headstock. Volutes were added in an attempt to strengthen
the neck/headstock to prevent breaking.
I own a 1975 ES345 which appears to be identical to yours except
for the color. Mine is wine red. I would estimate the value of
your guitar at ~$1k. Ironically, I have been thinking of selling
mine lately.
There are several books on the market that list prices for vintage
guitars. George Gruhn has one and there are others as well. It
might be worth your' while to pick up one of these price guides.

Thnx - Marc and Mark! My guess is it worth around $1K. She is such a
beauty I really hate to part, but I am financially strapped right now
and I may have no other choice.
A 1970 345?? Maple or Mahogany?? Sounds NICE!
Thnx Again,

It was sunburst, and yes, it did sound nice. Played great, too. I
needed "that Gretsch sound" though.
