3134.0. "Electra Guitars?" by BNICE2::MASHIA (Every lil' thing gonna be all right) Mon Nov 06 1995 09:28
I recently came into ownership of an Electra MPC guitar, model X320.
It's a Les Paul clone (heavy!) with brass hardware and rectangular
(fake?) abalone fretboard inlays.
Its most unusual feature is a large cavity in the back of guitar, which
contains a battery holder and two removeable plug-in effects modules. One
is a 'Power Overdrive' and the other a 'Phase Shifter'. I know what these
are, but I don't recall ever seeing a guitar with built-in effects
before, at least not removeable built-in effects. I haven't tried them -
I don't even own an amp - but I was curious to know if anyone had ever
heard of Electra guitars, and if they know anything about this particular
model.
I'm assuming its a Korean/Taiwanese made instrument, but there is no
"made in xxxx" label that I can find, and it does seem to be well
constructed, but I'm no expert when it comes to electric guitars.
Can anyone help? I'd also be curious about it's worth, though I don't
intend to sell it.
Thanks,
Rodney

| The whole "Electra MPC Guitar" line was sold by St Louis Music Co back
in the late 70's(78,79). Yes they are an import. A niffy idea that
never seemed to catch on. You can probably give SLM a call and get some
info about them or look in some old Guitar Player magazines.

| Thanks Rick. I figured it was pretty old - the hardware looked 'aged'.
I have a bunch of old GP's in the attic - I'll check them out.
I even have some vague memory of seeing an ad for one, now that I
think about it...
