Yes, best of luck! Like you, if I left I would probably not
stay in this industry. Fyi, this month's GP has several
articles about jobs in the music industry - from local gigs,
studio session work, to guitar/amp repair. I believe there
are books that are recommended as well.
For me... I'd be the guy playing by the pool at the hotel
at some resort... tee it up every morning, dive in the pool
before "work", and never buy a pair of long pants for the
rest of my friggin' life!!
Peter - take the opportunity to do what you want to do.

3123.9 | Not "Goodbye"... more like "See Ya Later" | SCAMP::PAGE | | Tue Dec 26 1995 09:15 | 35 |
|
I didn't think this conference needed yet another "Goodbye"
topic, and since I'm not sure this really *is* "Goodbye", I'm re-using
this thread...
I work for Digital Learning Services (DLS), which is part of MCS.
For those of you who read Livewire or the HUMANE::DIGITAL conference,
you've probably heard that DLS has been sold... and where DLS goes, I
go...
We've been bought as a new venture and renamed Global Knowledge
Network. As of now, I am officially a GKN employee, although my
paychecks will probably say Digital on them for a couple more weeks.
Though I view this change with the concern any rational person would
have, I believe it's a change for the best... Digital has not viewed
Educational Services with the respect it deserves, and now we have the
opportunity, the freedom, and thanks to the investors, the $$ to treat
Training as a core competancy. I also hope it will present me with new
opportunities and advancement that's been sorely lacking 'round here.
I hesitate to say where this will take me-- for the forseeable
future, I'll still be sitting at MKO, with a VMS account, Digital
E-mail address & access to the Digital network. So I guess it's not
"goodbye" yet... I'll still be around for a while. GKN and Digital will
be very closely connected, as we will continue to be the exclusive
provider of Digital Customer Training, so for all I know I may be
around 'til retirement... but then again, you know how quickly they can
change their minds...
Anyway, that's the scoop... I expect to be talking to you all
again, but if I suddenly disappear, at least you'll know why...

| My turn.
After 17 years of DEC and Digital, I'm headed off to greener pastures.
My last day here is 9/20/96.
Have fun, succumb to GTS when necessary, and always strive to improve.

Sam, take care. I've always enjoyed your notes, and am glad that we
had the chance to meet while you were here in ZKO!
It's very wierd to read the goodbye notes. Many times I'll tell my
wife that a good friend of mine from Notes has left the company, and
she'll remark "Good friend? You've never even met the person."
Oh yes I have.
