| Thanks PK - It's a real drag when you lose a good pal, and a good
musician. It's worse when he was 33 and had three young boys.
Cancer blows.
I've got some corrections to the base (bass?) note:
The Bass Guitar is a Yamaha BB5000A. It's neck-thru, Gotoh
bridge/tail, rosewood fretboard, and pearlish-white.
The AMP is Amplified Music Products, BH420, has lo/high eq, plus a four
band parametric eq, FX loop, bi-amp and full-range outs,
compressor/limiter blah-blah. It comes in a two space rack package.
I'm not really positive about the output power, but I know it's loud
(like a GK800 loud).
The SWR Cab is a "Basic Two Way" model, has a port in the back, plus an
attenuator...bi-amp and full range. The thing is like new, as he
bought it jsut before he got sick.
Also added to the pile is a Ampeg "Gemini 12" 1x12 combo. All-tube,
(2) 6V6 valves, tremolo circuit, foot switch, two channels... The
speaker inside sez Fender on it, and it's blue... Tubes are all new.
I *like* this little amp, and may keep it for fun - but just so I can
balance the books - whats it worth??

| Coop, sorry for your loss. This is truly a sad story.
Since none of this gear is considered "vintage" except for the
Ampeg Gemini amp, I would value the gear as such:
Average resale value on the used market would be 50-60% of
the original selling price when new.
As far as the Ampeg amp, I've seen these selling anywhere from
$100 upto about $250, depending on the condition. I assume this is
one of the older amps with swirled vinyl covering and chicken-head
knobs. These amps sound really nice when cranked. A lot like a
Deluxe reverb. It's fortunate that this amp uses 6V6 power tubes.
Some of the ampegs used tubes that are no longer available. What
are the preamp tubes in this amp?

| Well, this Ampeg amp was modified to accept 6V6's; I know, cuz I helped
do the mod. The old power tubes were 7591's. It does sound cool though.
It's big too - Twin size with one speaker. PreAmp toobs are:
(3) 12AX7's (PreAmp)
(1) 6CG7 (Rectifier?)
(1) 7191 (Driver???)
BTW - You should HEAR this thing thru a 4x12 with the volume up!!
Wow!!

| The fact that the amp has been modified is both a blessing and a curse.
It's a blessing as the mods may have improved the amp and made it more
serviceable. It's a curse because it detracts from the vintage value of
the original amp.
I'd still value it around $200.

Ouch Coop,, what a tragedy.. this hit's sort of close to
home,, My brother inlaw , who incidently is also 33 and
plays bass, came close last year (intenstinal Cancer) he's
recovering now after loosing 50% of his small intestines,
and part of his stomach, but thank God, looks like he'll
be one of the lucky ones, We came *way* to close...
he's one of the best friends I have, and easily the best
Bass player I've ever worked with..
My condolances to friends and family.. Hope the wife and
kids can manage... good luck with the equipment..

3113.7 | need replacement value for these items | OUTSRC::HEISER | watchman on the wall | Thu Dec 14 1995 21:58 | 11 |
| I need to estimate replacement value on these items and haven't kept in
touch with the market enough to know what the going rate is. Any help
on the market value of these items would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,

1990 Ibanez RG550 : $300?
1966 Fender Mustang : $250?
1966 Vox Cambridge Reverb : $200?
1972 Fender Super Reverb : $200?

3113.8 | My guesses | CUSTOM::ALLBERY | Jim | Fri Dec 15 1995 07:56 | 15 |
| Assuming the stuff was in good condition...
While the Mustang was an entry-level instrument, I think $250 is too
low for a '66. I'd guess at least $300, maybe even $400-$450.
$200 for a '72 Super Reverb seems too low as well. I'd say more like
$250-$350. The ridiculous prices people are paying for blackface
Fenders seem to be causing the silver-face ones to go up too.
I saw an early 70's Princeton Reverb the other day that the store was
asking $275 for...
I'd recommend picking up an issue of Vintage Guitar and checking the
ads to get a better idea.

| Exsqueeze me, but REPLACEMENT VALUE (as far as Musical Instruments and
Insurance is concerned) comes from what it would cost to replace the
item. This means retail, gang - and insurance companies (at least
mine) would get that info from the Orion Blue book...
Mike - These books are in MOST music stores and pawn shops. Go visit,
tell them why you are there, and ask to look a few items up. :-)

| $300 is too low for the RG550 -- a brand new one will cost you ~$650
now!!

3113.13 | still, used they're fetching $450 in Boston area | POWDML::BUCKLEY | Reason for the Season | Mon Dec 18 1995 12:29 | 5 |

For 96? Not sure -- they were still available a year or so ago when I
asked, and I was shocked to hear they were around $750 list!!
I have no idea what the current Ibanez production line up is like now?
