3103.0. "Kramer Guitars (1976-1985)" by ESBS01::WATSON (What do you want ?) Thu Jul 20 1995 03:34

    Does anyone have any catalogues, reviews or other information on Kramer
    guitars (1976-1985). Even pointers to a particular back issue of Guitar
    Player, Guitar World or The Music Trade would be useful. These years by
    the way were before the wooden necks were intoduced.

    I suppose it would be too much to ask for a translation of serial
    numbers to a given model and year ?

    Any held much appreciated

    Regards.

    i have a candy-apple red kramer pacer guitar with a wood neck,
    that i'm positive was purchased no later than 1985; my guess
    would be 1983. it also has a floyd rose tremolo system.

    I actually really like the tone of the early 80s Kramer guitars for
    hard rock. They have a real nasty bite to them and a wicked midrange.
    They kind of suck for anything else, though ... and the latter models
    really bite the big one.

    I'll check my catalog file and see if I have something (what I mean is:
    I'm sure I have something, but finding it is another matter entirely).

    So what exactly do you want to know?. I have some catalogs, but they
    obviously don't have any serial # information. In '79, the top regular model
    was the 650 Artist, followed by the 450 Deluxe. There was a DMZ series
    topped by the DMZ 6000 with active electronics. There's also a picture
    of a guy in a leisure suit!

3103.7Vintage Guitar article!MILKWY::JACQUESVintage taste, reissue budgetThu Jul 27 1995 09:235
    Vintage Guitar magazine did an article on the early Kramers a few
    months back. Most of the models pictured have aluminum necks ala
    Travis Bean. I'll see if I can find the article tonight.

    Danny, Mark,

    	Is there any chance of you photocopying the catalogue(s) and
    Vintage Guitar mag article and dropping them in the internal mail to me ?

    	Thanks in advance,
