Just a quick question about a friends AC30T...... Does anyone know what sort of valves would be found in a 1964 Vox AC30T with original blue speakers .My friend owns this babe of an amp and wants to know as much as he can about it .I've passed on all the info from previous notes on the amp but they dont say anything about types of tubes and which tubes would be good as replacements. At one point he was thinking of selling it but he was only getting offered about 350 quid which is just not enough for something this good. Any info about this amp would be much appreciated.... Cheers J.

The power stage is an EL84 quartet. I'm not sure what else is used off the top of my head. | |||||

Yes, there are four EL84s in the power section, as mentioned in .1. The preamp section contains four ECC83s and an ECC82, and there is also a GZ34 rectifier valves. I'm afraid I can't help you much with regard to equivalent replacement valves, although I wouldn't have thought that these would be difficult to find, especially given the success of the Vox AC30 reissues in the UK in recent years. What other information does your friend need? Dom |
