I can't find anything in this conf...... How do you get the best compromise between action/playability and tone/volume when setting up your guitar? I have a Patrick Eggle Berlin Pro that seems to have no structural problems, but if I want to get rid of all fret rattle, the action needs to be quite high. Alternatively, if I set the bridge to give a nice playing action, after about the 10th fret, it is prone to fret rattle. Any hints (to a fairly inexperienced player) on how to approach this? Maybe a step-by-step approach to set up? Thanks

I'm not to familiar with your guitar, but a lot of guitars have slightly bowed necks, I could be WAY off base here but your problem could definetly be caused by your neck. May be having someone a little more knowledgable in this area to take a look at it would be a good idea. Good luck, kevin | |||||

There's quite a few reasons this will happen, one of which is a bowed neck, (re:1) and sometimes, the frets need some attending to.. best bet is to bring it to someone who's decent with setting up guitars, and let them set the action for you... After a point in time, it becomes a compromise between action and buzzing.... But you should be able to get the action low enough to make you comfortable with the playability. |
