2943.1 | One Of Many Mongrel Gibsons | TECRUS::ROST | Don't use cruise control in reverse | Fri Jun 17 1994 07:06 | 10 |
| The Marauder is from the mid seventies, an (unsuccessful?) attempt at a
low cost Gibson. The pickups and electronics were designed by Bill
Lawrence. One unique feature for the time was a pickup panning
control. They were gone from the market by 1980.
In general, these are not considered great guitars, are not colectible,
and most surviving pieces in the US are pretty beat up. Typical US
resale is $200.

| There was a second version of this with a toggle switch instead of the
blend control.
The bridge pickup was a "blade" type for extra highs.
There was a "Custom" version with a bound fretboard and some of the
later ones had maple fretboards. As Brian mentioned, these were not
considered a classic Gibson design and died a quick, well-deserved
death.
